Paying to park will now be easy, digital and convenient

Lansing, Mich. (Oct. 17, 2019) — Beginning today, drivers in Lansing, Mich. can use the Passport Parking app to pay for on street parking at nearly 3,000 spaces throughout the downtown area. The app, powered by mobility management company, Passport, enables users to digitally pay for parking without using a meter or paystation.

The Passport Parking app makes parking simple. Users download the free app and create an account with their vehicle and payment information and then can start a parking session. When time expires, users are notified and have the option to extend the session without having to return to their vehicle.

“Since taking office in January 2018, I have received many requests for an updated parking system in the downtown Lansing area. I’m excited to announce that we will now have this new mobile app available for everyone,” said Andy Schor, Lansing Mayor. “The mobile pay technology is reliable and convenient for the users and will help increase revenue to the City, while also reducing the number of tickets given. Our visitors will be able to shop, eat or remain in their meetings without having to run outside and feed the meter. Lansing’s time is now and I’m thrilled to move Lansing’s parking system into the 21st century!”

Passport works with nearly 1,000 clients worldwide, including many in the state of Michigan, including Grand Rapids, New Buffalo, Ferndale and Michigan State University. In Detroit, Passport operates the Park Detroit parking app and the Dart app for buses and streetcars.

“We are excited to bring our technology to another city in Michigan and help the City of Lansing digitize and modernize their operations,” said Tom Wiese, sales director at Passport. “With the Passport Parking app, drivers can park, pay directly from their smartphones, and then get on with their day.”

ParkMobile Launches Smart Parking in Montgomery

People are now able to use their mobile devices to easily pay for parking

ParkMobile is thrilled to announce that we are now bringing smart parking to the City of Montgomery, AL! With an increase of 400,000 more visitors in 2018 than 2017, and an ever-expanding array of dining, hotel, and entertainment options, parking has become a premium in downtown Montgomery. The city’s new partnership with ParkMobile will trade the hassle of meters and loose change for the convenience of paying for parking from nearly any mobile device.

The ParkMobile app is available for more than 2,000 parking spaces around town. Signage posted around the cityexplains how to pay for parking using the free app available to download for both iPhone and Android devices. A user simply enters the zone number posted on the ParkMobile sign, chooses the duration of time, and touches the “start parking” button. ParkMobile sends alerts when a parking session is about to expire. Parking may be paid for through the app or by calling the number included on the signage.

ParkMobile is already available to users across the state in cities like Birmingham and Mobile. It is also widely available in Alabama’s neighboring states, including Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Tennessee. ParkMobile’s expansion into Montgomery, which comes at no cost to the city, gives people more places where they can use the app across the state.

The partnership complements Montgomery’s “Smart City” strategy in which city officials tap technology to solve everyday issues while increasing efficiency and enhancing overall quality of life in Alabama’s capital city. Recently, Montgomery received several awards for its efforts, including winning the Smart Cities Readiness Challenge grant competition and recognition as one of the nation’s top “Digital Cities” by the Center for Digital Government.

“Incorporating ParkMobile’s seamless capabilities into our parking infrastructure not only saves time and hassle, but it is another example of our efforts to bridge the digital to the physical to meet the needs of residents, visitors, and businesses alike,” says Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange. “We are proud to offer yet another smart, sustainable solution that enhances overall quality of life and positions Montgomery for further success and development.”

“ParkMobile is excited to bring our smart parking solutions to the City of Montgomery,” says Jon Ziglar, CEO of ParkMobile. “We have a growing base of users in Alabama, so the more places we are available, the easier it will be to park wherever you travel across the state and bordering states.”

WEST NEW YORK PARKING AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES TOWN-WIDE SMART METER INSTALLATION AND MOBILE PAYMENT OPTIONS

New meters integrate with smart devices to create a more convenient modern parking experience.

WEST NEW YORK, N.J. – The West New York Parking Authority (WNYPA) announced today that the agency will be replacing the town’s traditional, coin-operated parking meters with smart parking meters this Spring. Weather permitting, the installation process will be completed by the end of April 2019. Along with these new meters, residents will also be able to pay for parking town-wide with mobile devices via the Parkmobile app.

WNYPA leadership decided to introduce smart parking to the town after a successful test pilot program earlier this year. A social media survey further revealed that the majority of participants preferred using the digital meters over traditional ones. The executive board believes that these smart meters will align West New York with its residents and visitors’ modern lifestyle needs.

“Providing our customers with more payment options is our primary goal,” said Amiris Perez, WNYPA Executive Director. “Motorists will be able to choose between mobile, card, or cash payments. We hope these smart meters will better meet community needs as we continuously work to improve parking conditions throughout the town.”

West New York residents are advised to look out for further updates regarding this announcement. Those with questions, comments, or concerns regarding these changes are advised to visit www.wnyparkingauthority.org/contact, email info@wnypanj.com, or call (201) 295-1575 for more information.

PassportParking® App to Bring Convenience to Users of Long Island Rail Road’s Mineola Intermodal Center

November 05, 2018

PassportParking® App to Bring Convenience to Users of Long Island Rail Road’s Mineola Intermodal Center

Users Can Pay by App; Railroad Considering Expansion

New York (Nov. 5, 2018) — Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) customers in Mineola can now pay for parking by smartphone. LIRR president Phillip Eng announced that the railroad is working with Passport, the global leader in mobility technology solutions. The app will begin accepting parking payments at the LIRR’s Mineola Intermodal Center, at 65 Third Avenue in Mineola, which has parking for 960 cars. Use of the app adds convenience and additional features for commuters, and eliminates the need to use pay-on-foot machines on site.

The PassportParking app is free to download on iOS and Android. In addition to paying for parking through the app, users can also:

  • Monitor parking sessions electronically

  • Receive notifications for parking sessions ending soon

  • Extend parking sessions remotely

  • View payment history

  • Receive email receipts

Three quarters of parking spaces used by LIRR customers are controlled by municipalities or private companies. If the app proves successful, it could be expanded to LIRR-owned garages that are managed by Allpro parking, which works with Passport.

Additionally, the LIRR envisions a potential extension to the 920-space garage at Wyandanch, which is also owned by the LIRR and managed by Allpro.

“Whether it’s reconfiguring our on-platform displays to provide information that our customers have asked for, adding GPS to our trains to provide more accurate real-time arrival estimates for customers, or simplifying and speeding the parking process, we are harnessing technology to make our customers’ experience with us easier and more pleasant wherever we can,” Eng said. “This new app creates new functionality to make interactions with our system easier. If it proves successful I hope we can roll it out elsewhere.”

“We are excited to be offering our state of the art technology to commuters using AllPro – Long Island Rail Road facilities as part of their daily commute,” said Mollie Bolin, sales executive at Passport. “Gone are the days of missing your train because you were waiting in line to pay at the paystation, or having to stand at the paystation on a cold day, everything can now be paid via app saving time and hassle.”

In addition to making parking easier, the LIRR is also working to increase the supply and availability of parking, building hundreds of new spaces along the Main Line, at New Hyde Park, Mineola, Westbury and Hicksville, as part of the Main Line Expansion Project.

Passport also powers mobile payments for parking for drivers that commute on the Metro North Rail line as well as across other New York regions including Albany, Rye, Buffalo and White Plains.

The PassportParking app is free to download from the App Store and Google Play, and parkers can also manage parking online at park.passportparking.com.
