TKH: UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Technology Focus Extends to the Parking Garage

Cheshire, CT – December 13, 2022 – TKH Security (formerly Park Assist) has been awarded an additional Automated Parking Guidance System (APGS) contract with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center (UTSW) in Dallas, Texas. UTSW was recently heralded as the No. 1 hospital in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan area by U.S. News & World Report for the 6th year in a row.

UTSW’s technological approach to healthcare also extends to the parking garages. With an anticipated second quarter 2023 completion, the APGS will be located in CUH Garage B of UTSW campus’s newest edition – the William P. Clements Jr. University Hospital.  Opened for patients in 2020, research and innovation are the foundation for the medical center’s patient-centered care. CUH Garage B, a 950-space facility accommodating both visitors and staff, will soon join CUH Garage A in housing the latest in parking technology.

“The hospital was designed with the care and comfort of patients and their families in mind.  Our goal was to create a calming environment to reduce stress and I believe we’ve achieved it.  Each step of a patient’s process has been made easier – entrance, checking in, internal wayfinding, discharging, external navigation, and exit. Since installing the AGPS in garage A, our patients and visitors praised their parking experience. Adding it to garage B was an easy choice,” said Senior Operations Manager Rick Harbaugh. “With the systems, we’re able to maximize occupancy, enhance security, and utilize the data to adjust parking operations to meet driver and medical center needs.”

Visitors, patients, and their families will have the means to efficiently find an available parking space with TKH Security’s new smart-sensor M5 camera-based APGS. Each smart-sensor can monitor up to six parking spaces simultaneously. The bright, red and green color-coded LED light on the smart-sensors instantly visually direct motorists to available spaces.  Reducing time to park by up to 63%, the APGS will help patients arrive to their appointments quickly.

“It’s been great working with UTSW over the past few years and we are excited to be installing our system at another site.  It shows the commitment TKH Security has to our existing customers, providing exceptional technology and services,” said Regional Account Manager Jeff Sparrow. “I’m delighted to have our company selected for this project.”

UT Southwestern Medical Center’s APGS package also includes:

  • Park Surveillance to capture streaming video when motion is detected in or around a space, or continuously if desired,
  • Park Alerts, which notify operators when certain vehicles enter the building including VIP patients and visitors,
  • LCD NAV signs to provide up-to-the-minute parking space availability for drivers,
  • And INX with real time dashboards and business intelligence for operations to maximize parking facilities.

On the UT Southwestern Medical Center project, TKH Security is proud to partner with Associated Time.

TKH Security’s Park Assist Parking Guidance Solution is Set to Go Live at Ohio State University’s Wexner Medical Center Garage

CHESHIRE, CT  – Park Assist, recently merged with TKH Security, installed its Parking Guidance System (PGS) at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in the Wexner Medical Center Garage at the end of 2020. This new technology, now ready to go live, will bring world-class parking and next-level guidance to the patient experience. With the anticipated opening of ~1,900 parking spaces to better serve the growing medical campus, the M4 smart-sensor system will support this expansion.

The installation will include the proprietary M4 system, custom enclosed wayfinding signage, the new INX™ software platform, Park Finder™, and Park Alerts™.

From the moment patients and visitors enter the garage, digital wayfinding signage guides them, indicating where there are available spaces. Continuously updated with information collected from the sensors, these signs provide simplified data to help parkers make informed decisions. As drivers make their way through the facility, the camera based smart-sensor system helps parkers navigate the garage. Equipped with bright, color-coded LED light rings, the smart-sensors signal which spaces are available and which are occupied using red and green lights. This not only makes the parking process easier and more efficient for the end-user, but it helps to decrease traffic congestion and reduce the amount of time patients and visitors spend searching for parking.

TKH Security’s new Park Assist software platform, INX, is a cloud-based user interface that will provide garage operators with real-time data collected by the M4 system using dashboards, historical reports and comparative analyses to help improve the facility’s parker experience, operational efficiencies and drive new revenue opportunities. This technology platform also encompasses business intelligence modules, service and support access, and optional applications for enhanced functionality and greater control. Park Finder and Park Alerts, two of the most popular Park Assist software modules, are now also available via INX.

The customer-centric Park Finder extension utilizes License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology to ensure that guests can easily pinpoint their vehicle upon returning to the garage. Using either a mobile app or a Park Finder enabled kiosk, patients and visitors will be able to enter their license plate number into the system. The Find Your Car™ locator then searches a database of vehicles in the garage and identifies the correct license plate number and corresponding vehicle, providing step-by-step directions on how to reach the car.

Additionally, the Park Alerts software module allows operators to set automated rules and alerts that bring important events to their attention. If any parking policies are violated (overstayed vehicles in time-limited spaces, misuse of restricted or premium spaces, etc.), management will be immediately notified so they can take the appropriate action, helping parking management quickly react to any unwanted behaviors and enforce the policies that keep their garage running smoothly.

“Utilizing automated technology to curate an unparalleled parking experience with a focus on wayfinding and ease of access, TKH Security (formerly Park Assist) is committed to reducing parking hesitations at the doorstep of the hospital journey.” Said Robert Wishart, Regional Account Manager, Northeast.

Working with Denier Electric, a seasoned and proven TKH Security installation partner in Ohio, the project is complete and ready for use.

Park Assist has been Awarded its Third Parking Guidance System Contract for Lake Nona Town Center

CHESHIRE, CT – November 19th, 2020 – Park Assist® has been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) contract for Lake Nona Town Center’s latest Headquarters Office (HQO) project. Developed by Tavistock Development Company, Lake Nona Town Center is a premier mixed-use destination located in Orlando, FL. The center consists of six million square feet of shopping, dining, and entertainment for guests, with a Marriott and Residence Inn on-site, an open-air social setting, and a nine-screen cinema. The HQO project will incorporate an additional office component to this site and provide parking availability for all future office employees. Equipped with Park Assist’s M4 system, Lake Nona Town Center’s latest garage will continue to deliver a superior parking experience for all office employees and guests.

Given Park Assist’s long-standing presence in Florida, the success of its previous installations on-site, and its industry-leading technology, Lake Nona chose to implement Park Assist’s camera-based M4 smart-sensor system in its newest facility. Park Assist’s proprietary M4 PGS and digital wayfinding signage offer each parker advanced guidance from garage entry to exit, removing stress and uncertainty from the parking journey and curating an enhanced customer experience. The color-coded M4 smart-sensor system guides parkers through the facility to vacant spaces using red and green lights to indicate occupancy, guaranteeing reduced search and park times, and decreased traffic.

This PGS will also include exclusive software add-ons that utilize Park Assist’s License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology, such as Park Finder™ and Park Alerts™, as well as Park Surveillance™. Upon returning to the facility, Park Assist’s customer-centric Find Your Car™ feature enables guests to swiftly locate their vehicle. By merely entering all or part of their license plate number into a Park Assist enabled kiosk, parkers are guided to the exact space where their car is parked, increasing customer satisfaction and decreasing the time it takes to exit the facility.

Park Assist’s Park Alerts and Park Surveillance software add-ons help increase control and security in the garage. The Park Alerts software extension allows parking management to set automated rules and alerts, enabling operations staff to enforce policies and remain informed about parking abuse and violations within the garage. Park Assist’s Park Surveillance module enables the M4 sensors to capture streaming video of any movement in or around parking bays. With unobstructed views of each parking bay as well as the space in between vehicles, the M4 cameras can successfully capture all action in the garage, serving as a proven deterrent of theft and other criminal behaviors.

“Lake Nona has been an incredible location for the Park Assist portfolio. We are delighted and proud to work with Tavistock Development once again on our third major project for its HQO garage. Our consistent commitment to excellence has only added to the customer experience and innovation that the owner strives for throughout the development.” Said Thomas Alexander, National Channel Manager.

Site work at Lake Nona is already underway, and the installation is slated for completion by the end of 2020.

One Loudoun Upgrades its Park Experience with Park Assist

One Loudoun Upgrades its Park Experience with Park Assist

CHESHIRE, CT – October 21st, 2020 – Park Assist® has been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) contract for One Loudoun in Ashburn, Virginia. The mixed-use development, owned and operated by Retail Properties of America (RPAI), is Loudoun County’s top destination for shopping, dining, and entertainment. Over the coming months, this vibrant commercial center will expand even further, enhancing the mix of its Downtown commercial core by adding One Loudoun’s first multi-family residential housing community and incorporating new shopping and dining options. To accommodate this continued growth, RPAI added two additional garages, H and G, to expand parking options. Park Assist’s camera-based M4 smart-sensor system will be installed in these new garages in lieu of the ultrasonic single-space PGS previously utilized across the development.

By deploying Park Assist’s camera-based M4 smart-sensor system, the installation will require less hardware and support an array of cloud-based software functionalities and back-end operational benefits that an ultrasonic counting method cannot. With higher accuracy and a cutting-edge reporting platform, INX™, One Loudon will use Park Assist’s solution to simplify the parking experience, leveraging License Plate Recognition (LPR) technology and Park Assist’s Park Alerts™ software module to manage its customer traffic flow and user groups more effectively.

Park Assist will also install its state-of-the-art digital Variable Messaging Signs (VMS). These digital signs display a vast array of occupancy data, equipped with split-screen, scrolling, and toggling capabilities, empowering visitors to make informed decisions from the moment they enter the garage. As wayfinding signage guides users to appropriate parking areas within the facility, Park Assist’s exclusive M4 smart-sensor system enhances the guidance experience by indicating which specific spaces are available or occupied using color-coded LED lights.

Powered by Park Assist’s software platform, INX, parking management will also gain valuable control over the garage with Park Alerts. Using integrated LPR technology and duration monitoring capabilities, this module allows parking management to effectively monitor space utilization and enforce parking policies. Park Alerts will send notifications to management of any policy violations via time-based or license plate-based alerts.

RPAI was heavily invested in utilizing the intelligent infrastructure of Park Assist’s PGS to further automate its operation, all from one data-driven reporting platform, INX. Providing valuable insight down to the bay level, this logic engine allows parking management to create customizable enforcement routines based on license plates, location, and dwell time. By building these flexible user zones and protocols, One Loudon can manage its asset and easily optimize transient parking spaces.

“It has been a fantastic experience working with RPAI and Potomac Development to enhance their mixed-use development. With a higher functioning camera-based solution in the new H and G garages, the M4 parking guidance system will bring a cutting edge feel to their parking operation.” Said Robert Wishart, Regional Account Manager.

Working with Clear Communications, the installation is scheduled to begin in October and slated for completion in 2021.

The Mayo Clinic Adds Park Assist’s Smart-Sensor PGS to its Growing Arizona Campus

CHESHIRE, CT – October 8th, 2020 – Park Assist® has been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) contract for the Mayo Clinic Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona. One of the country’s top-ranked hospitals, the Mayo Clinic, is an academic medical center currently based in three primary locations: Rochester, Minnesota; Jacksonville, Florida; and Scottsdale, Arizona, focused on integrated patient care, education, and research. The Mayo campus in Scottsdale/Phoenix is expanding its existing 1.7 million-square-foot facility, adding 1.4 million square feet, almost doubling in size. The campus will also be incorporating a new 1,721 space parking garage complete with Park Assist’s proprietary M4 smart-sensor system to accommodate this development.

As a growing facility, the Mayo Clinic was eager to install a PGS that had the flexibility to grow with the Hospital – One that fulfilled the needs of today’s parking environment while anticipating its ever-changing demands. Park Assist’s proprietary M4 smart-sensor system will provide employees, patients, and visitors at the Mayo Clinic with the highest level of guidance from the moment they enter the facility. This installation will also include Digital Signage and Park Assist’s Ops Command+ API Package with website integration capabilities, Park Alerts™, and a mobile application add-on.

Before arriving at the Mayo Clinic, visitors and patients can check on space availability through a mobile application or the Mayo Clinic’s website. Park Assist’s website integration and mobile application, designed to alleviate parking frustration, display real-time information and are automatically updated continuously throughout the day.

Park Assist’s Digital Wayfinding Signage and camera-based M4 PGS will guide drivers to open parking bays as they enter the facility. The signage directs guests to specific areas in the facility with open parking bays; the color-coded smart-sensors indicate availability down to the bay level. Using red and green lights to signal which spaces are vacant or occupied, the PGS eliminates additional stress and uncertainty from the parking journey and reduces drivers’ search and park times.

Additionally, the Mayo Clinic will also implement Park Assist’s Park Alerts software feature, offering parking management valuable tools to effectively monitor space utilization and enforce parking policies. Park Alerts will send notifications to management of any policy violations by providing time-based or license plate-based alerts.

“It is exciting to see the benefits of our technology expand into hospital parking operations. Partnering with such a well-respected organization, known throughout the world as one of the leading medical centers, is truly an honor. We are proud to have a system that can accommodate the Hospital’s growing need for camera-based parking guidance while improving parking operations and elevating the customer experience.” Said Jeff Sparrow, Regional Account Manager.

Partnering with Copperhead electric, the installation is slated for completion by January 2021.

Park Assist’s Smart-Sensor System is Bringing a New Level of Guidance to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s Parking Garage

September 29, 2020

Park Assist’s Smart-Sensor System is Bringing a
New Level of Guidance to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport’s Parking Garage

CHESHIRE, CT – September 29th, 2020 – Park Assist® has been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) contract for Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). As the primary commercial airport serving the Seattle metropolitan area in Washington, SEA Airport is the 8th busiest airport in the USA and the 3rd busiest on the West Coast. Spanning the entirety of its terminal, SEA operates one of the largest single-structure garages in the world, consisting of over 12,100 parking stalls. Park Assist’s M4 Smart-Sensor System will be installed in this garage to ensure that each traveler is treated to the highest level of guidance both upon entering and returning to the facility.

Port of Seattle chose to implement Park Assist’s proprietary camera-based M4 PGS to monitor occupancy and provide guidance throughout the SEA Airport garage. Designed to help parkers quickly and seamlessly locate available parking spaces within the facility, Park Assist’s M4 smart-sensor system enhances the parking experience by indicating which specific spaces are available, occupied, or premium using color-coded LED lights. This not only significantly reduces the search and park times for travelers, but it also removes traffic congestion, confusion, and frustration from the parking journey.

Along with Park Assist’s exclusive M4 technology, the Airport’s PGS will also come equipped with several software add-ons, including Park Select-Rate™, Park Finder™, Park Surveillance™, and Park Alerts™.

Park Assist’s customer-centric Park Finder software module ensures that guests can quickly pinpoint their car upon returning to the garage. Utilizing either the Park Assist mobile app or a Park Finder enabled pay station, travelers enter their license plate number into the system and are guided to their vehicle’s exact location. The Find Your Car™ locator searches a vehicle database and identifies the correct license plate number and corresponding vehicle, providing step-by-step directions on how to get to the car.

Additionally, Park Assist’s Select-Rate add-on allows parking management to easily designate spaces for premium pricing. Once a vehicle enters a premium space, the smart-sensor feeds the vehicle ID and location data to the Parking Access and Revenue Control Systems (PARCS), applying the premium rate to the associated vehicle. This provides a VIP experience for the end-user and presents an opportunity for the airport to create value for frequent flyers and unlock open revenue streams.

Park Assist’s Park Alerts and Park Surveillance add-ons will be used to increase control and security in the garage. The Park Alerts software extension allows parking management to set automated rules and alerts that help staff manage awareness and control activity in the facility, while Park Assist’s Park Surveillance module enables the M4 sensors to capture streaming video of any movement in or around parking spaces, serving as a proven deterrent of criminal activities.

“Partnering with the Port of Seattle, Park Assist took a consultative approach solving for SEA Airport’s specific parking needs. Listening to Port of Seattle’s concerns, Park Assist is proud to provide SEA Airport with a Parking Guidance System built to suit its unique requirements. The M4 PGS not only provides exceptional guidance, but it also provides travelers with an exceptional experience from entry to exit, offering each guest an upgraded parking journey.” Said Will Cai, Regional Account Manager.

Design for the site has already begun, and the installation is slated to begin by Q1 2021.
