Scripps Memorial Hospital Selects Park Assist to Provide Patients with an Effortless Parking Experience

NEW YORK, NY – March 30th, 2020 – Park Assist® has been selected to install its M4 Parking Guidance System (PGS) at Scripps Memorial Hospital (SMH) in La Jolla, California. SMH is one of five hospitals owned and operated by Scripps Health. This hospital has been serving the La Jolla community for close to 100 years and is one of the highest-ranking hospitals in the San Diego area. With an exceptionally positive reputation and several notable specialty programs, this facility draws many different patients. In order to ensure that each patient’s outstanding care starts with a seamless parking journey, SMH is installing Park Assist’s M4 parking guidance solution in its newest garage.

As a forward-thinking industry leader, SMH chose to implement Park Assist’s exclusive M4 smart-sensor system to help improve its patient experience. The M4 PGS effortlessly guides parkers to available spaces and alleviates congestion, especially during peak periods. Using color-coded smart-sensors, the camera based PGS indicates which spaces are occupied or vacant using red and green LED lights, enabling all guests to clearly and quickly find parking. This streamlined system removes confusion, reduces search times, and enhances garage efficiency.

In addition to improving traffic flow, SMH also selected the M4 system because of its aesthetic appeal as well as Park Assist’s extensive experience and track-record of success.

“Park Assist is honored to work with Scripps Memorial Hospital to help deliver a seamless, customer-oriented parking experience for patients, staff, and visitors. We believe that our technology will provide a new level of comfort and ease for all parkers.” Said Will Cai, Regional Account Manager.

Site work is set to begin in June 2020 and is projected for completion by November.

Prosperity Medical Center Chooses Park Assist’s
Parking Guidance System

FAIRFAX, VIRGINIA – Park Assist® has been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) contract for Prosperity Medical Center in Fairfax, Virginia. This facility is a state-of-the-art medical campus, housing various divisions of providers and catering to a high-volume of patients. Its parking facility, holding 467 parking bays, serves both patients and employees. The addition of Park Assist’s patented, camera based M4 system, will ensure a more organized and efficient parking experience so that both patients and faculty can get to their destinations quicker than ever.

Prosperity Medical Center was drawn to Park Assist’s wide menu of offerings, including its wayfinding sensors and signage, software add-ons, and PARCS integration capabilities. As a large medical center, with a constant stream of patients and faculty coming and going, the facility faces heavy traffic turnover. To help alleviate this traffic and organize employee/patient parking, the medical center has chosen to install Park Assist’s M4 system, interior dynamic message signs, exterior wall mounted signs, inductive loops to count rooftop vehicles, and Park AlertsTM and Park FinderTM software modules.

As parkers enter the facility, they will be guided to vacant spaces using the M4 PGS. The bright, color-coded LED lights in this smart-sensor system help parkers navigate the garage by indicating which spaces are available and which are occupied.

Parking management will also gain valuable control over the garage with Park Alerts. Using integrated license plate recognition (LPR) technology and duration monitoring capabilities, Park Assist will provide a secure solution for monitoring employee vs. patient parking locations.

In addition, Park Assist’s Park Finder API, offers visitors an easy solution for locating their vehicles upon returning to the garage. Using Park Assist’s Find Your Car feature, parkers simply enter their license plate number into the Park Finder pay station, touchscreen kiosk, or smartphone app and in seconds the system locates and directs visitors to the appropriate car.

“Park Assist is excited to provide Prosperity Medical Center with a solution that eases the patient parking experience through our wayfinding smart sensors and dynamic signs. With this technology, both patients and staff will benefit from an easy to navigate, stress-free parking journey.” Said Robert Wishart, Regional Account Manager, Northeast.

Park Assist has subcontracted Clear Communications to handle the installation which began in November and is scheduled for completion by the end of January.

Starting next year, parking at Prosperity Medical Center will be transformed to guarantee an easy, organized parking experience and client satisfaction from entry to exit.

Park Assist has been Awarded the Parking Guidance System Contract for Easton Town Center’s Worth and Midtown Garages

Park Assist has been Awarded the Parking Guidance System Contract for Easton Town Center’s Worth and Midtown Garages

COLUMBUS, OHIO  – Park Assist has been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) contract for Easton Town Center’s Worth and Midtown Garages in Columbus, Ohio. Easton Town Center is an expanding indoor and outdoor shopping complex, serving as the premier shopping, dining, and entertainment hub in the Midwest. The mall boasts over 30 million visitors per year and features best-in-class retailers, outstanding restaurants, Ohio’s largest movie theater, a superior comedy club, and incredible outdoor squares. In an effort to cultivate the ideal customer experience, Easton Town Center will use Park Assist’s patented technology to create a convenient, efficient, and easy-to-navigate parking solution.

Easton Town Center is an existing client and already uses Park Assist’s M4 camera-based PGS in their Southwest Garage. This was the first camera-based, intelligent parking solution on the property, met with extraordinary success. Since its installation, the parking structure has benefitted from a reduction in search times, increased data, and improved security measures due to Park Alerts notifications.

Given the reliability and success of the system in the Southwest Garage, Park Assist was again chosen as the PGS provider for the Worth and Midtown Garages. These sites will use the same M4 technology to guide the parker journey.

The LED lights on Park Assist’s smart-sensors will serve to quickly signal parkers to open spaces, avoiding unnecessary delays and elevating the customer experience.

As an alternative to installing wayfinding signage, Park Assist will use an API to communicate space availabilities to Easton’s third-party parking management software provider, All Traffic Solutions, who will then display the available space counts on mobile applications and roadway signs throughout the property. This collaboration will curate a seamless parker journey and allow Easton to utilize their existing platform comfortably without needing to install additional hardware.

Site work began at the end of September. Park Assist has subcontracted a reputable local installer to handle the installation which will be performed in 3 phases. While Worth Garage is undergoing renovations occurring in 2 phases, the Midtown Garage work will begin as striping is completed within the garage.

U.S. District Court Rules in Favor of Park Assist in Patent Case Vs. San Diego County Regional Airport Authority

August 29, 2019

U.S. District Court Rules in Favor of Park Assist in Patent Case Vs. San Diego County Regional Airport Authority

United States District Judge, Honorable Roger T. Benitez, issued an Order this week ruling in Park Assist’s favor by denying San Diego County Regional Airport Authority’s (“Airport”) motion to dismiss Park Assist’s patent infringement action against the Airport. http://go.parkassist.com/e/81802/v-san-diego-airport/5dl42b/554699661?h=DddBYH9sm8T14JbVMlATHMwlRtxmEvTD3TubGNHnWZ8

The Order stems from Park Assist’s suit against the Airport and Ace Parking Management, Inc. (“Ace”) for infringement of Park Assist’s U.S. Patent 9,594,956 directed to a method and system for managing a parking lot based on intelligent imaging (“’956 Patent”).  After Park Assist initiated the infringement action against the Airport, the Airport moved to dismiss Park Assist’s case by attacking the patent’s validity on grounds that the patent claims were allegedly abstract and not directed to patentable subject matter.

In rejecting the Airport’s arguments, the Court noted:

“As Park Assist correctly argues, the ‘956 Patent’s claims are not abstract because they are directed to specific improvements to known parking guidance systems.”

“The described improvements to prior art parking guidance systems – the improved GUI, correcting algorithm, and collocated imaging/indicator structure – adequately demonstrate that the ‘956 Patent’s claims are patent-eligible under step one of Alice.”

“Here, considering the claims’ character as a whole, in light of the specification, the claims are directed to improving known parking guidance technology through an improved parking guidance system, comprised of components including a novel GUI, a self-modifying classification algorithm that allows the parking system to adapt and learn from past errors to improve detection accuracy, and a collocated imaging/indicator structure.”

“Accordingly, because the ‘956 Patent’s claims are directed to ‘a specific means or method’ for improving parking guidance system technology, rather than simply directed to an abstract end-result, the claims pass muster under step one of Alice. The Court ‘need not proceed to step two’ of the Alice test, as it finds the ‘956 Patent’s claims are not directed to an abstract idea.”

With the Court’s Order now rejecting the Airport’s arguments, the infringement action against the Airport and Ace Parking can now proceed.
