FLOWBIRD Signs First Dual Contract to Provide Both Cale and Parkeon Lines

City of Fort Worth Amends Agreement to Include Cale MAX Single/Dual Space Meters

The City of Fort Worth, TX, a long-time customer of Flowbird’s Parkeon brand products, has recently amended their service contract to include Flowbird’s Cale MAX Single/Dual Space Meter. This addition is the first dual contract of its kind, thanks to the recent merge of parking and transit leaders, Parkeon and Cale, allowing the new combined company to offer both product lines for customer convenience and ease.

Installation of 57 Flowbird Cale MAX Meters will begin in early July of this year. The installation comes with an additional 19 of Flowbird’s Parkeon Strada Kiosks. Both meter types will address the issue of Fort Worth’s recent expansion along the West 7th District, an entertainment and residential region, that hold both large and small areas for parking.

The City was looking for a single/dual space meter solution that also integrated with existing back office systems. The solution needed to be compatible with remote programming changes, including rate adjustments and download functionality across all units within the West 7th Urban Village Core. By adding the single-space MAX meters, the city is now in the process of reducing operation and maintenance process time.

The Cale Max single and dual space meter is solar powered and comes with an extended battery life. It accepts coins, credit/debit cards and is compatible with mobile app payment.

The original Parkeon contract was amended to include Cale Max Single/Dual Space Meters on January 19th, 2018. Installation of the meters will be completed by September 15, 2018.

“The merger of Parkeon and Cale allowed the company to expand its product offerings, allowing clients to mix and match as needed,” said Benoit Reliquet, President of Flowbird North America.  “We appreciate this opportunity in Fort Worth to showcase our broader product range.”

Flowbird Group: Ventura, CA Trades Outdated Kiosks for Modern Parking Solution

Ventura, CA Trades Outdated Kiosks for Modern Parking Solution

City installs paid parking system supplied by Flowbird Group

Flowbird Group, the name of recently merged parking and transit leaders, Parkeon and Cale, has announced that is has begun implementing a new Pay by Space parking system for the City of Ventura, California. Fifty nine new parking pay stations will replace old pay stations that had outdated software and faced imminent non-compliance with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard.

The Ventura City Council approved funding to purchase replacement pay stations in September of 2017 after it was apparent that the current meters would no longer remain in compliance with credit card industry security and liability standards.

In October of 2017, the Downtown Parking Advisory Committee (DPAC) of Ventura received a total of 5 proposals for new pay stations; all with products currently contracted in various cities in California. Based on the committee’s evaluation, Flowbird’s Parkeon StradaPAL Pay Station, was rated highest based on speed, price and reliability.

“The City of Ventura chose Flowbird’s Parkeon pay stations because they are quick, reasonably priced, reliable, functional and have the ability to integrate well with our existing system,” said Jeff Hereford P.E., T.E., Principal Civil Engineer for the City of Ventura. “They also meet the latest PCI standards.”

Flowbird’s Pay by Space system will be integrated with the City’s citation management system provided by Data Ticket.  The status of each space (paid or unpaid) will be communicated from the Flowbird system to the Data Ticket system so enforcement officers know, in real-time, which vehicles are not in compliance.  From the Data Ticket interface, officers can then issue a citation if necessary.

In addition to helping control where vehicles park, the new system will help the City improve its infrastructure.  Net revenue from the parking system will go towards other projects in the downtown area.

“We are extremely pleased to have been chosen as the preferred system supplier for this exciting project,” said Benoit Reliquet, President of Flowbird North America.  “We look forward to providing the citizens in Ventura with an easy-to-use, secure parking solution.”

Currently, Flowbird supports over 40,000 parking pay stations for 600 customers throughout the U.S.  This project allows the company to continue its rapid expansion in Southern California.  The company expects the system to be deployed by the end of April.

Global Parking Index 2018: Spotlight on US Cities

Parking Property Advisors and Parkopedia proudly present this 2018 Top 40 US Cities Parking Index. Whether you

are in the parking business or operate a business dependent upon parking, market-based parking rates help you

make decisions that impact your business. Our goal with the 2018 Top 40 US Cities Parking Index is to provide

parking stakeholders with hourly, daily, monthly and monthly reserved rates from the Central Business Districts of forty of the top US markets.

In developing this report, Parking Property Advisors gathered data from more than 650 parking facilities representing more than 300,000 parking spaces via direct research with numerous operators, owners, appraisers and property inspections. This data was combined with Parkopedia’s extensive store of parking information for the Top 40 US CBDs.

All prices were calculated as the median of corresponding parking rates for all publicly available off-street parking facilities in a city center based on Parkopedia’s global dataset of parking in cities across US and Parking Property Advisors research of rates in Central Business Districts in major US cities.

  • Hourly parking: 1 hour stay on a weekday
  • Daily parking: 8 hour stay on a weekday
  • Monthly parking: Unreserved monthly rate (a space is guaranteed but it is not a dedicated space)
  • Reserved Monthly parking: Monthly rate for a guaranteed space.

Parkeon Completes Implementation of Paid Parking System Around The National Mall

August 04, 2017

Parkeon Completes Implementation of Paid Parking System Around The National Mall

Moorestown, NJ, July 26, 2017 –  Parkeon, Inc., the worldwide leader in multi-space parking systems, announces that they have completed the installation of a new paid parking system for their client, the National Park Service (NPS).  The new system is deployed around the National Mall, where the nation’s iconic museums and monuments can be found right in the heart of Washington, DC.

The implementation of parking meters and mobile parking payments is the result of over a decade of planning and studies  by the National Park Service. The analyses lead to a Request for Proposals released at the end of 2016 for the technology implementation and complete system operation.

In February 2017, NPS awarded the contract to Parkeon to supply and operate the new parking system. The system consists of 102 solar powered, wireless Strada Pay Stations in a cashless configuration.  Credit/debit cards are the only available methods of payment. These multi-space meters control approximately 1,200 parking spaces throughout the National Mall and Rock Creek Park.

The pay stations are connected to Parkeon’s Big Data Suite allowing both Parkeon and National Park Service staff to remotely monitor the system, explore parking trends and utilization patterns, study data correlations through spatial data analytics, and study sales, occupancy and rate efficiency in real time.

In an area where demand out paces the supply of available spaces, the primary goal of the new system is to reduce traffic congestion by increasing parking space turnover.  High turnover leads to a more fair and equitable delivery of limited public spaces. Drivers who need to use spaces temporarily during the day will find more options available because it will become much more difficult for those in the habit of monopolizing public spaces to continue to operate that way under the new system. In addition to reduced congestion, the paid parking system will also subsidize and facilitate the use of public transportation in the area.

Parkeon completed the system implementation in early June of 2017, but the company is by no means a new player in the area. It has been supplying the District of Columbia’s multi-space parking meter system since 2004.  There are approximately 1,000 Parkeon Pay Stations throughout the District that help in the management of on-street parking.

“We are very proud to have been selected for this important project,” says Benoit Reliquet, President of Parkeon, Inc.  “The National Mall receives over 30 million visitors each year and we look forward to working with National Park Service to find innovative ways to make parking simple so that the overall visit to our nation’s capital is an enjoyable one.”

In its first full month of operation, the new system generated over 60,000 successful parking transactions.

Moorestown, NJ – June 15, 2017 – Wynantskill, NY based Access Technology Integration (ATI) and Parkeon, a global supplier of smart city solutions for the parking and transit industries, have announced that they have rolled out the Whoosh! mobile parking payment app for the City of Kingston, NY.  Whoosh! will provide a huge convenience to motorists as it allows them to pay for their parking with their smart phones, tablets, and computers instead of having to search for change for the parking meters.

The Whoosh! app is available at all on-street parking meter locations throughout downtown Kingston covering approximately 400 parking spaces.  Motorists can download the Whoosh! app from the App Store or Google Play Store or visit www.whooshstore.com.  Once registered, users can make parking payments, receive time expiration notifications, and extend their parking stay all from their mobile devices.  Time extension can also be made on the Apple Watch.

ATI and Parkeon worked with the City’s citation management vendor, Complus Data Innovations (CDI), to integrate Whoosh! payments into CDI’s citation issuance system.  Enforcement officers will know in real-time if a motorist has made their payment via Whoosh! just by checking for the license plate number on their handhelds.

Whoosh! ambassadors have been be onsite in Kingston this week in bright pink T-shirts informing parkers and merchants about the new app.

The Whoosh! app is available in more than 30 parking locations around the US.  This includes many towns and villages in New York State in addition to Kingston, such as the City of Niagara Falls, the City of Syracuse, Villages of Cold Spring, East Rockaway, Lawrence, Lynbrook, and Valley Stream, and at Binghamton University.  Whoosh! is also available in 4 countries in Europe covering more than 100 parking locations.

City of Vancouver, WA To Implement Parkeon Smart Parking System

July 13, 2016

ParkeonLogo

City of Vancouver, WA To Implement Parkeon Smart Parking System

Moorestown, NJ – July 12, 2016 – Facing the challenges of new downtown development combined with an aging parking infrastructure, the City of Vancouver, WA will be implementing a new smart parking system supplied by Parkeon, the worldwide leader in on-street parking technology.  The new system will help ease traffic downtown and future proof the City’s parking investment for the long term.

After a competitive bid process beginning in 2015, Parkeon was selected to install their state-of-the-art Strada Pay Stations.  These new, wireless, solar-powered multi-space parking meters will feature a dynamic 7” color screen and customizable keyboard interface that will easily guide users through their transactions. The meters will accept coins as well as credit and debit cards for payment.

Parkeon’s proposal protects the City’s investment because future technological changes are planned for in advance.  From the beginning, the meters will be delivered with EMV certified credit card readers.  When changes in wireless technology and credit card security happen years from now, Parkeon will supply the latest generation modems and card readers at no additional charge.

The Parkeon system will also provide the City with extreme flexibility from an operational standpoint.  Remotely, City staff will be able to create and distribute validation codes for local businesses and special event parking.  To help manage congestion downtown, the City will also have the remote capability to analyze parking activity and remotely change parking rates.

Parkeon is also assisting the City in connecting to its residents and visitors through a City News application available on the meters.  From Parkeon’s Smart Center, the City can create and download events listings, traffic closure information, new business openings, and other news directly to the Stradas.

Parkeon is not unfamiliar to the City of Vancouver.  More than 10 years ago, the City replaced a handful of single space meters with Parkeon pay stations on-street, and installed 10 Parkeon pay stations in the Park ‘n Go Vancouvercenter Public parking garage.

“We selected Parkeon because their system has been successful in Vancouver for many years, and their proposal provides advantages to the City as a tool to manage parking into the future,” said Mike Merrill, Parking Services Manager for the City of Vancouver.

The new parking system is scheduled to launch this fall and will serve approximately 400 parking spaces that were added to the Government Parking Management District Parking Meter Zone 4 in 2013.  The system will be locally supported by Parkeon’s partner, DGM Systems, located within the City of Vancouver.
