Organisation of the Year – EasyPark wins top Australian Industry Parking Award

EasyPark has been recognized by the Australian Parking Industry as the 2023 Organisation of the Year.

The Award is recognition for EasyPark’s rapid growth during an incredibly busy 18 months in which the Cities of Melbourne, Canberra and Perth andmany others, adopted the EasyPark Digital Parking Solutions including the award winning Pay via Phone for parking App as an alternative to parkingmeters and also the introduction of ticketless digital permits.

Over the last 8 years more than 70 Councils and Parking Operators across the country have introduced EasyPark Pay via Phone for parking and Digital Permit Solutions.

More than 3.1 Million Australians have downloaded the EasyPark App to dateand there are close to 100 000 new downloads each month. EasyPark was the38th* most downloaded app on the app store in September 2023!

EasyPark CEO Eli Grossinger Binshtok said receiving the industry’s top accolade at the prestigious Parking Industry Awards event, inSydney was reward for the team’s determination to make the parking experience easier for clients (councils and parking operators) and ourcustomers (end users).

“The best compliment that we get is that EasyPark is – Easy.

“People say it is easy to use and we are easy to do business with. But, as we all know, it’s not that easy to make it easy. We worked very hardbehind the scenes to achieve this outcome for our clients and customers and for this I thank our wonderful team who show great effort andcommitment every day to build this amazing organisation to make it easy for everyone else.

“We strive to go above and beyond and deliver WOW in everything we do, both internally and externally. Now for us this is a WOW moment in the history of our company.”

The EasyPark Pay via Phone App is the most used in Australia (in fact it is the most used service of its kind globally). EasyPark was established inAustralia in 2012 and has grown to become the leading Pay via Phone/App for parking service. Our 3.1 Million customers are able to use theEasyPark service in almost every State and Territory in Australia.

Beyond our shores the wider EasyPark Group has a similar growth trajectory with rapid expansion in Europe and the US. Collectively thereare now more than 80 million EasyPark App customers in over 25 countries and nearing 4,000 cities. And these numbers continue to grow rapidly asEasyPark expands.

The EasyPark App enables drivers to control their parking. Vehicle owners set their start and end time from their mobile device, and if their meeting, appointment or catch up finishes early or overruns, they simply change the timings from their phone, without having to return to the car. Unlikesome apps which are pre-loaded with money, EasyPark users only pay for the exact time they use and on the day that they use the service.

EasyPark General Manager Craig Logan said more and more Councils and Commercial Parking Operators are adopting the EasyPark digital parking services to reduce and replace physical parking meters and old outdated parking permit systems.

“Increasingly, digital options for parking are being adopted. Cloud based technology-led solutions are always the latest and most up to date, and are easily integrated with other cloud-based solutions.

“The 3G network, which many physical parking meters still utilise for communications and payment processing, will be cut off next year, and as a result, Councils and Parking Operators are considering additional digital payment options, including EasyPark as a viable alternative to upgrading their entire fleet of aging on-street parking meters.

“This Award not only reflects the amazing work from our team over the last 12 to 18 months, but it also reinforces our goal of growing the companyand consolidating our position as the market leader in digital parking solutions,” Mr Logan said.

EasyPark was also the Finalist for Outstanding Customer Service and Arjun Nambiar was named Finalist for the Young Achiever Award.

“The Australian Parking Industry is full of very dedicated hard working people and as a result is a very competitive but genial industry. This year’sAwards event was well attended and a great opportunity to come together, mix and discuss potential integrations, collaborations and partnerships allgeared toward providing great choice for clients.

“We would like to thank the CEO and the entire board of Parking Australia and all the sponsors for a well organised event and we also thank members of the Australia Parking Industry for voting EasyPark Organisation of the Year 2023,” Mr Grossinger Binshtok said.

TKH Security has been Selected to Deliver an Unparalleled Parking Experience at Abbott Northwestern Hospital

TKH Security has been Selected to Deliver an Unparalleled Parking Experience at Abbott Northwestern Hospital

CHESHIRE, CT – October 6, 2021 – TKH Security (formerly Park Assist) has been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) contract for Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Abbott Northwestern Hospital, part of the Allina Health network, is the largest private hospital in the Twin Cities and is recognized nationally and locally for its exceptional expertise and care. As part of the Abbott Northwestern Hospital Campus Revitalization Program, Allina Health is building a new transportation hub and adding two additional parking levels to its existing facility, totaling 2,742 parking spaces. Intending to maximize its parking assets on campus, enhance security, and improve the customer experience, Allina Health has elected to implement TKH Security’s camera-based M4 System.

Allina Health originally considered installing a level-count system. However, after learning about TKH Security’s parking guidance technology and how its intelligent infrastructure and unique integrations could enhance the hospital’s overall operation, Allina Health chose to deploy the M4 single-space PGS. In addition to the smart-sensors, Abbott Northwestern Hospital’s installation will include TKH Security’s LCD- NAV and VMS-NAV wayfinding signage and several exclusive software modules: Park Surveillance™, Park Alerts™, and Park Finder™.

TKH Security’s proprietary M4 PGS and digital wayfinding signage offer each patient, visitor, and employee unparalleled guidance from garage entry to exit. The entryway LCD-NAV sign provides advanced, customizable, real-time data as drivers arrive at the facility, immediately directing them to levels that have available parking.

The in-aisle, state-of-the-art VMS-NAV signs display a vast array of continuously updated occupancy data, empowering visitors to make informed on-the-spot decisions. The VMS-NAV offers operators a flexible navigation solution that can broadcast an expansive set of dynamic digital messages beyond simple counts with split-screen, scrolling, and toggling capabilities.

As wayfinding signage guides drivers on their journey, TKH Security’s M4 smart-sensors enhance the guidance experience by indicating which specific spaces are available or occupied using color-coded red (occupied) and green (available) LED lights, helping to remove stress and uncertainty from the parking experience while increasing garage efficiency.

The Park Alerts and Park Surveillance integrations help increase control, security, and safety in the garage. Allina Health was particularly interested in how TKH Security’s surveillance technology could enrich the facility’s existing camera installation. Park Surveillance enables the M4 sensors to capture streaming video of any activity in or around parking bays. With unobstructed views of each parking bay and the space between vehicles, this serves as a reliable and proven deterrent of theft and other criminal behaviors. In addition, the Park Alerts software extension further enhances garage control, empowering parking management to set automated time and license plate-based rules and alerts. These alerts enable operations staff to enforce policies and remain informed about parking abuse/violations within the garage.

As patients, visitors, and staff return to the garage, the Find Your Car™ vehicle locator enables them to quickly and easily pinpoint their car. By entering all or part of their license plate number into the Park Finder system, guests are guided to the exact space where their car is parked, increasing customer satisfaction and decreasing the time spent exiting the facility.

“This exciting project reflects the importance of a camera-based PGS on a healthcare operation that depends on providing an elevated customer experience while maximizing the features to enhance the parking and security operation.” Said Jeff Sparrow, Regional Account Manager.

Construction on the site is already underway and the M4 System is expected to be installed in Q1-Q2 of 2022.

Fleet Advantage: Today’s Transportation Industry Offering More Gender-Diverse Career Opportunities

Fleet Advantage: Today’s Transportation Industry Offering More Gender-Diverse Career Opportunities

A year ago, when the Covid-19 pandemic first hit the U.S., millions of jobs were wiped out, particularly among women who found themselves back home and coordinating everything from elderly parent medical issues along with additional home-school activities for kids who were also sheltered at home.

A year later we have made great strides to bring back many of these jobs in a variety of roles and industries. While many women are also just now starting to look where to resume their careers, some of their best opportunities might just be found in industries that have traditionally been filled by a predominantly male labor pool.

Transportation Has Previously Been Male Dominated

Industries like trucking and transportation, automotive and aerospace have traditionally offered careers that have been filled predominantly by men. Sectors that have traditionally offered a larger pool of jobs for women, such as hospitality, travel and catering, have been particularly hit hard by the pandemic.

It is time women look at industries like trucking and transportation to advance or restart their careers, especially since these industries look vastly different from just a few short years ago.

There remains a significant shortage of drivers in the trucking industry. Women could have a significant impact in helping to reduce the driver shortage, and more companies are looking to hire more women to fill these roles. According to a 2019 report by the American Trucking Association (ATA), the industry was short roughly 60,000 drivers in 2018, up nearly 20% from the prior-year estimate of just over 50,000. The ATA warns that if current trends hold, the shortage could swell to over 160,000 by 20281. Driver opportunities abound for women, in addition to a plethora of other career potential.

New Growth Potential for Gender-Diversity

Gender-diverse opportunities are growing every day inside the corporations that operate within the trucking industry. Today, the transportation industry has shed its years-ago perception that it was filled with old men driving dirty trucks. The trucks themselves are now state-of-the-art in many cases, and the companies that oversee a multitude of operations are brimming with careers in fields such as finance, asset management, procurement, legal, technology, data and analytics.

Women in particular are playing a leading role in shaping the technology that’s being used to advance today’s transportation industry.

Technology, Finance, Data Analytics Roles

At Fleet Advantage I’ve played an integral part in the development of the company’s Life Cycle Cost Management (LCCM) Software within the company’s technology platform ATLAAS Unified (Advanced Truck Life Cycle Administrative Analytics Software). This module helps our customers identify and optimize the ideal time for replacing their aging trucks with newer, more efficient units.

The opportunity to build a professional career leveraging my expertise in data and analytics was exactly what I hoped for, but I didn’t initially think I’d find it in the transportation industry. Forward-thinking companies in the industry see the value in this type of gender-diverse skillset, where my ongoing analysis, reporting and statistical modeling helps the company provide custom analytic reports for our clients and bank partners to examine cost metrics and to establish an optimal fleet modernization strategy.

I initially began my career within the consumer goods sector, but quickly realized my skillsets were better suited for a B2B industry such as transportation where advanced business intelligence and data analytics are being leveraged to help large enterprise-level companies make decisions that improve their bottom line.

A growing number of companies in the trucking and transportation industry are realizing the unique skillsets that women offer. Organizations like Women In Trucking also have been instrumental in advocating for women to learn more about opportunities in the industry.

The mission of Women In Trucking is simply to increase the ranks of women working in the industry,” said Ellen Voie, CAE, PDC for the Women in Trucking Association, Inc. Companies who recognize the importance of gender diversity have proven to experience greater net returns, but more importantly, they make a focused effort to attract, retain and promote women.

America’s economy needs the transportation system more than ever today. As more gender-diverse career paths open up inside transportation companies, these organizations will unlock even more potential for growth through the advancement and empowerment of a more diverse workforce.

EVs, Parking and the Future – ParkNews.biz April 27th – May 3rd, 2021

May 03, 2021

EVs, Parking and the Future – ParkNews.biz April 27th – May 3rd, 2021

“The world isn’t split into good people and Death Eaters.”
― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

This week on ParkNews.biz there is an article from Streetblog and then reposed by ggwash, May 3, 2021 – How EV chargers intersect with parking reform.

The piece written by Kea Wilson, engages Billy Grayson, director of the Urban Land Institute’s Center for Sustainability and Economic Performance and our friend Tony Jordan, president of the Parking Reform Network.  Both of these gentlemen are passionate about minimizing the land devoted to private car storage and parking minimums.

Therefore, Tony Jordan says: “It’s under-appreciated for sure that EV charging policy is parking policy. At the end of the day, Biden’s plan is really just giving people money to upgrade their parking. Hopefully it won’t be used to build new parking, but we don’t know that for sure yet.”

Billy Grayson says: “From a climate perspective, the best car is no car at all. Creating walkable, bikeable, transit-rich neighborhoods should still be our number one priority, and for every dollar we invest into EV charging, we should be investing at least $1.50 into those modes. But in those cases where we’ve made the decision that it’s still important to provide car infrastructure, then yes — we should make sure those cars are electric.”

How does all of it affects the parking industry?

This past week, this press release came from LAZ: April 29, 2021 – LAZ Parking Announces New Electric Vehicle Charging Program to Install 500 New Charging Stations at Locations Nationwide.  – “As part of this new initiative, 500 Tesla Connectors will be rolled out nationwide at LAZ locations” LAZ Chairman and CEO Alan Lazowski said:  “This initiative recognizes the rapid growth of the electric vehicle market and positions our clients to meet the fast-growing demand for charging stations. At the same time, it provides clients with a way to implement these upgrades at a significantly reduced cost while benefitting from the revenue generated from the use of chargers.”

What decision does a woman like me make if she ponders buying a new car?  To buy an electric car, a hybrid car, to keep my old gas eater SUV and stick to buying what I know best and that is particular luxury purses?  The latter are pricy but so simple and they actually appreciate in value.

Gas prices are going up.  In Los Angeles, the average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline rose on Saturday for the 8th day in the row.  Our prices are the highest since they have been on Nov 10th, 2019.  Saturday’s average price was $4.084 – that is 85.2 cents higher than the beginning of the year (source – NBC Los Angeles).

My head is spinning from all of this.  In the olden days, I didn’t have to worry if to buy an electric or a gas car.  It was all so simple.  Now, I have to be environmentally correct, politically correct and correct period.  Alas when I bought my SUV years ago, the only correctness needed was fixing with what works for me and my needs.  And that is what I miss about the good olden days: the middle.   Not right, not wrong, but fitting me and the ones around me.   Not black nor white but in shades of different colors in between.

Have a wonderful new week.

Sincerely,

Astrid Ambroziak

PARKPLUS: Automated Robotic Parking Surges in New York City

Over 100 Automated Parking spaces completed in recent months.

New York, NY  – The demand for robotic valet parking systems in the United States has intensified as developers and users continue to enjoy the substantial benefits provided by automated parking. This trend is demonstrated by the recent completion of four new fully automated parking systems in Manhattan, all with technology made in the USA, the PARKPLUS AGV Automated Parking system.

Electric Vehicle Integration with Automated Robotic Parking Systems

An emerging trend towards electric vehicle adoption is prevalent in automated parking systems: all the PARKPLUS AGV systems in New York include an increasing number of dedicated EV-charging parking spaces. EV Charging in parking garages is rapidly becoming the new standard across the nation as we witness code adoptions that mandate new and evolving EV provision requirements. PARKPLUS is assisting developers across the United States meet these and other electric vehicle requirements.

Jardim by Isay Weinfeld

Jardim is an 11-story luxury condominium in Chelsea, New York, developed by Centaur Properties and Greyscale Development Group, and designed by Isay Weinfeld. Thirty-six residences are distributed across two towers which surround two lush gardens on a shared base, a rare garden amenity in New York City. The building is equipped with a 38-space PARKPLUS AGV Automated Parking System on a subterranean level. Drivers approach the automated parking system through a brick-vaulted private drive for sheltered pick-ups and drop-offs. The driveway connects West 27th and 28th Streets and leads directly to the lobby, which has floor to ceiling windows looking onto the private gardens. Initially installed with 4 Electric Vehicle charging stations, the automated parking garage is now being expanded to include 20 charging stations to meet the growing demand.

Maximized ROI Through Reduced Parking Footprint

Automated parking systems maximize a development’s return on investment with a reduced parking footprint and better building flow, for more revenue generating space. Construction costs and schedules, and operational overheads, are reduced through implementation of the robotic systems, which include multiple improvements in a project’s safety, security and sustainability. These benefits, coupled with the aversion to public transportation and the rise in single ridership caused by Coronavirus pandemic, have accelerated the adoption of automated robotic parking systems in the United States, as people begin returning to New York City.
