Clopay® Corporation Introduces Cornell and Cookson Branded
Visionaire® MicroCoil® Grille

Ultra-slim curtain reduces headroom requirement, providing specifiers aesthetically pleasing rolling grille options for a variety of new applications.

Mason, OH  –– Clopay® Corporation, a leader in closure products for commercial, residential, industrial, institutional, and retail applications, introduces the Visionaire® MicroCoil® Grille, expanding its product line of security grilles featuring award-winning curtain technology. The patented, ultra-slim profile of Visionaire® MicroCoil® Grille requires nearly 30% less headroom than standard industry grilles. The curtain coils tightly and efficiently, providing a security solution for facilities with low headroom. Previously only available in high-performance construction, this technology is now available in standard-cycle, standard-speed rolling grilles. This product will be available in Clopay® Corporation’s Cornell and Cookson brands.

“By expanding the availability of MicroCoil® in a standard-cycle, standard-speed rolling grille, we are able to provide architects, designers and facility managers with a new range of security options for small spaces and retrofit projects,” said Siva Davuluri, Vice President of Marketing, Clopay® Corporation. “It is well suited for schools, urban retail applications, older buildings and structures that cannot utilize a standard size operating grille due to headroom and clearance restraints, or any structure that cannot be heavily altered,” he added.

A Plethora of New Applications

A major benefit of broadening the availability of MicroCoil® is its patented combination of technology, durability and aesthetics. The Visionaire® MicroCoil® Grille provides space-saving performance for facilities that do not require the speed and operation of high-performance rolling grilles.

“While our Extreme High Performance MicroCoil® Grille is a boon for busy parking facilities around the country, there are a number of retail and mixed-use applications that can benefit from low headroom coiling grilles that complement the building, while providing protection and security,” explained Heather Bender, Strategic Marketing Manager, Clopay® Corporation.

“In major cities around the country, historic buildings are often occupied by luxury retailers and high-end boutiques,” explained Jason Millard, Architectural Design Support – Project Manager, Clopay® Corporation. “Whether you’re in New York City, Boston, Philadelphia or Chicago, these spaces often have low headroom, and specifiers can’t change the physical structure and dimensions of the storefront. In order to provide security, they have traditionally relied on scissor gates, but now with Visionaire® MicroCoil® Grille, they have a compact, affordable option that is more robust, blends with the surrounding architecture and allows window shoppers to see merchandise after hours.”

Designed to Perform

Product engineers at Clopay® Corporation made several modifications to standard grilles in order to accommodate the curtain for the Visionaire® MicroCoil® Grille. The steel counter-balance coil shaft has been updated from a standard four-inch barrel to a more robust six-inch barrel. This allows the patented vertical chains to coil tightly and efficiently while providing a stiffer base to support the structure.

“The secret of Visionaire® MicroCoil® Grille is in the patented design of the curved links,” explained Millard. “The links increase in length as you move down the grille curtain. When the curtain retracts into the head unit, the increasingly longer links allow the grille to coil tightly and neatly stack into itself,” he added. The unique link construction also significantly reduces noise and vibration during motor or manual operations, making it one of the quietest grilles in the industry.

Visionaire® MicroCoil® Grille can be specified in a wide range of heights—from 6’ to 14’.5”—and widths up to 26’. The links are made of high-quality 304-gauge stainless steel and an easy-link repair system contributes to less maintenance, making repairs easy. Visionaire® MicroCoil® Grille is rated and warranted to 50,000 cycles and comes with the brand’s full suite of safety and aesthetic features, including photo eyes, light curtains and powder coated finishes.

Flowbird Unveils Highly Anticipated Off-Street Parking Solution at the 2022 IPMI Conference

Flowbird Unveils Highly Anticipated Off-Street Parking Solution at the 2022 IPMI Conference

Company presents FlowbirdGO, a cloud-based off-street solution for gated and gateless facilities

Moorestown, New Jersey – Flowbird North America, a leader in cloud-based mobility solutions, announced the release of its latest advancement in parking technology at the 2022 International Parking and Mobility Institute Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. FlowbirdGO is a dynamic off-street system giving operators the flexibility to manage parking in gated and ungated garages and lots. Visitors to Flowbird’s IPMI booth got a first-look at the system’s cloud-based functionality, easy to use hardware, and frictionless entry in action.

In gated parking scenarios, the FlowbirdGO system begins with a fully configurable touch-screen entry kiosk. As the driver approaches the parking facility, the gate arm is down and the entry terminal illuminates. The driver prints their QR code entry ticket and the gate arm opens for access to the facility. Alternatively, the FlowbirdGO system can be customized to accept phone numbers, credit cards, and permit access as an entry token.

Payment for parking stays can be made at Flowbird’s Pay-On-Foot machines or at an in-lane Flowbird exit kiosk. The QR code from the initial entry ticket is scanned and Flowbird’s cloud-based system calculates the amount owed. The Pay-On-Foot machine can be configured to accept various forms of payment including magstripe, chip, NFC, coins, and bills. In-lane payments can be made by card or NFC payment. The Flowbird mobile parking app is also a key payment method in the FlowbirdGO eco-system.

Once payment is confirmed by the Pay-On-Foot machine, a QR code receipt is printed and scanned at exit to raise the gate. If payment is done in-lane, the gate will raise automatically following the successful transaction.

FlowbirdGO can also be configured for gateless parking facilities, allowing for frictionless entry and exit. Seamlessly integrating with 3rd party LPR cameras, drivers can freely enter and exit the facility while their license plate number is recorded by the FlowbirdGO system. The solution can accommodate pre-payment or post payment, prior to leaving the facility, as well as mailed invoices if the user does not pay on-site.

The system’s open technology platform allows for an array of possibilities that are customized to individual parking facilities. FlowbirdGO offers real-time digital parking validation solutions to keep customers coming back to the local business community. For frequent visitors, the system offers a complete permitting solution that can include proximity cards or an RFID system to help manage monthly parkers. Intercom systems are available around-the-clock to quickly service customers while in-lane.

Built with advanced technology integrations, the FlowbirdGO system offers unique insights into clients’ parking facilities, delivering a simple yet dynamic solution with enhanced results. FlowbirdGO is a fully cloud-based solution, meaning there is no need for an on-site server, saving both time and unnecessary costs. All payment transactions are stored in a secure, PCI compliant location.

The power behind FlowbirdGO is in its advanced, yet intuitive, management system, offering real-time equipment health reporting, advanced analytics, third-party integration, and remote rate and message changes. The Business-Intelligence (BI) system generates reports with precision, providing detailed summaries of facility activity, financial information, statistical reports linked to operational performance, occupancy levels, distribution of payment methods, and more.

For clients utilizing Flowbird’s on-street parking solutions, adding the FlowbirdGO system will greatly enhance operational efficiency by bringing together all on and off-street data into one powerful system.

“We have built the FlowbirdGO system from the ground up to meet the needs of today’s off-street parking operations,” said Benoit Reliquet, President of Flowbird North America.  “The key aspects for us were to make the system flexible and cost effective to give cities, universities and parking operators a solution that can be customized, integrate with 3rd party systems, and meet their day to day operational needs.”

Parker Technology Launches Beta “Mobile Suite” Platform Features

Parker Technology Launches Beta “Mobile Suite” Platform Features

INDIANAPOLIS (July 21, 2022) – Parker Technology recently launched a beta version of two new innovative platform features: Mobile Queue and Mobile Endpoint, which comprise their Mobile Suite offering.

“The parking industry is transforming digitally faster than ever, and mobile-first is quickly becoming the norm. We saw it as a critical step forward to build a mobile suite to meet our customers where they are headed,” said Brian Wolff, President & CEO of Parker Technology.

Mobile Queue gives a garage manager the ability to answer intercom help calls on a smart phone, through the Parker Platform, preserving two-way video, data integrity and key features like translation in the lane. With Mobile Queue, parking customers can take their own calls when staffing is adequate. It also has a built-in “ignore call” feature, which can be set-up and scheduled to immediately send the call to Parker’s call queue for handling if their staff are busy helping another customer or dealing with a more pressing onsite issue and not able to answer.

Mobile Endpoint gives parking patrons access to help where there isn’t an intercom. They can place a two-way video help call using a QR code in a lot or at a pay station. The facility or lot does not have to have electricity, gates, internet, intercoms, hardware, or staffing to use this feature. It gives them the flexibility to help their customers, even if their surface lots aren’t staffed 24/7.

Both features are built into the Parker software platform, so with Parker, customers can still track issues and resolutions, watch call recordings, and see when and where calls are coming from.

Tammy Baker, COO of Parker Technology adds “Like everything else in the world today, our clients expect quick solutions to everyday problems. We’re expanding our platform to meet them where they are and help them get to where they want to be. In order to achieve this, we’re scaling our platform to continue to deliver solutions that are flexible, available and reliable.”

To see Mobile Queue and Mobile Endpoint live, Parker will be demoing both features at the International Parking & Mobility Conference & Expo next week in New Orleans, booth #451.

CENTERPARK ACQUIRES TWO GARAGES ON 58TH STREET

New York City’s Preeminent Parking Owner-Operator Doubles Down on Midtown,
Closes on Two Properties Totaling 40,000 Square Feet of Parking Space

NEW YORK, NY  – Centerpark, a fully-integrated developer, owner and operator of parking facilities known for converting traditional parking garages into modern mixed-use transportation and logistic centers, today announces the acquisition of two more assets in Midtown, adding 40,000 square feet of garage space to its growing portfolio.

Purchased from Muss Development for $8,250,000, the properties are currently leased by Icon Parking and are located at 58 West 58th Street and 222 East 58th Street in high-traffic districts with diverse parking demands. Newmark Vice Chairman Brian Ezratty represented both sides of the transaction and JLL Managing Director of Capital Markets Brett Rosenberg facilitated the loan from Valley National Bank.

Centerpark has taken a relatively contrarian position within the parking industry, investing heavily in Midtown at a time when other investors are waiting to see how post-pandemic office and transportation trends evolve. The New York-based company leverages deep market insight and proprietary technologies to optimize its assets and adapt in this changing climate.

“We know the demand generators in Midtown are diverse, particularly the 58th Street corridor, which services parking needs for housing, tourism, retail, entertainment, work and more. The long-term fundamentals are compelling to us,” said Gregg Reuben, Centerpark’s CEO.

Located at the corner of Sixth Avenue, 58 West 58th Street is one block from Central Park, Carnegie Hall and over 3.75 million square feet of commercial, residential and hospitality amenities. The 33-story building comprises 168 residential units above two garage levels totaling 22,076 square feet and 120 individual spaces. The current tenant’s lease expires in June 2023, after which Centerpark will assume the space and begin operating.

222 East 58th Street is a 20-story building with 260 residential units and one garage level encompassing 16,152 square feet and 72 spaces. Situated between Midtown East and Lenox Hill, the property is situated in a prime location just one block from five million square feet of commercial, residential, hospitality, medical and cultural offerings. Icon Parking, the previous owner, has 15 years remaining on its lease.

With the acquisition of these properties Centerpark now owns and operates 20 garages in Manhattan, including a high concentration in and around Midtown. Over the past two years alone Centerpark has invested $100M in parking properties, including the launch of an innovative full-service private parking condominium at 301 East 69th Street where spaces are selling for $199,000 and up.

Parker Technology Partners with University of Houston to Improve the Campus Parking Experience

June 13, 2022

Parker Technology Partners with University of Houston

to Improve the Campus Parking Experience

Houston, TX —Parker Technology, the leading provider of parking customer service, has been partnering with the University of Houston since July of 2021 to provide 24/7 customer support, with two-way video technology, in the University’s parking facilities. With Parker’s customer service solution, students, faculty, staff, and visitors parking in campus parking facilities can quickly reach a Parker Technology customer service representative if they experience problems when entering, exiting or paying.

“We are delighted to be partnering with Parker Technology,” said Neil Hart, Executive Director of Parking and Transportation Services for the University of Houston. “We are gaining access to the industry’s best and most responsive customer service provider, while streamlining our own parking operations. Our partnership with Parker will elevate the parking experience and significantly reduce our parking management costs.”

Parker Technology’s solution works in tandem with the University’s existing T2 PARCS equipment, providing instant access to Parker’s cloud-based platform, and thus a connection to their customer service reps. Additionally, several of the facilities have Parker’s patented two-way video functionality enabled. The Parker solution is available in 111 lanes, throughout 22 campus parking facilities, including six garages and 16 parking lots.

In today’s increasingly automated parking industry, Parker’s customer support platform can provide the sole connection between parkers and trained professionals who can help solve common problems related to paying for parking or entering and exiting garages. Each year, parkers across the US reach out to customer service professionals via call buttons at least 85 million times. This statistic is extrapolated from the Parker Technology platform, which also records and analyzes data about each call to determine which issues are most common. This data helps provide parking operators with insight at potential efficiencies in better managing their parking resources.

“We are proud to be working with the University of Houston and T2 to improve the campus parking experience,” said Brian Wolff, President and CEO of Parker Technology. “This was a complicated project with a lot of moving parts, and its success was the product of close collaboration between the university’s parking team, T2, and the Parker team. And now as a result, each of the university’s parking facilities can offer instant access to a trained customer service professional whenever necessary, 24/7.”

About the University of Houston

Established in 1927, the University of Houston empowers students in their pursuit of learning, discovery, leadership, and engagement. Easton has been with Alchemco for more than five years, previously serving as Director of Technical & Warranty, making him the ideal candidate to oversee the company’s high-level operational needs.

Easton’s new responsibilities include broad oversight and leadership of Alchemco’s manufacturing, inventory control, material purchasing, global shipping and logistics, vendor relations, quality control and safety protocols. The U.S. Army veteran was the clear frontrunner to lead the company’s operational needs based on his success in his previous role and natural leadership abilities.

Compared to competing products, Alchemco’s waterproofing systems help owners save on application labor as well as the volume of materials needed to waterproof a structure, while offering long-term protection.

HENRICO, Va.  – Alchemco, a world leader in innovative concrete waterproofing systems, has introduced a revolutionary new product that is helping to alleviate troublesome construction delays as a result of ongoing supply chain issues. With the delivery of roofing materials being delayed in many cases six to nine months, the company’s new DuraTite Temporary Roof System is allowing construction workers to confidently proceed with interior construction work while they await the arrival of the permanent roofing materials.

Alchemco’s DuraTite product line is known industry-wide as a best-in-class waterproofing and surface protection solution, whether the need is to plug an existing construction leak or lay new concrete. The company’s new Temporary Roof System takes that several steps further, providing a very quick and inexpensive way for concrete roof decks to be ‘dried in’ for up to a year so framers, electricians, plumbers, and other construction workers can continue work inside the building while they wait for permanent roofing materials to arrive.

“Alchemco is proud to have developed an effective solution that is proving invaluable for the construction industry considering lengthy material delays,” said Alchemco CEO Mario Baggio. “Our DuraTite Temporary Roof System allows critical building projects to proceed to the next phase while workers await necessary roofing materials, so they can stay on schedule. We’re pleased to serve as a solution provider for the construction industry, not only while supply chain issues continue to disrupt their workflow, but as their go-to waterproofing products that promise to extend the life of any construction project.”

In addition to the new DuraTite Temporary Roof System, the product line includes Crystalline Admix to effectively blocks the passage of water when added to concrete or mortar; DuraTite Foundation which blocks water when applied to the surface and ensures permanent water tightness; DuraTite Plug, a fast-acting hydraulic cement plug that stops actively-flowing water so leaks can be repaired; and DuraTite Repair Mortar, a quick-setting, ready-to-use repair mortar for vertical and overhead applications.

Originally developed more than 45 years ago, Alchemco’s unique technology has positioned the company as the dominant world leader in concrete waterproofing systems. Its products have been proven to help building owners avoid ongoing maintenance issues and structural problems typical of concrete structures, such as corrosion, spalling and carbonation. Compared to competing products, Alchemco’s waterproofing systems help owners save on application labor as well as the volume of materials needed to waterproof a structure, while protecting the concrete structure for decades.
