Park Assist: Increasing Parking Safety at People’s Trust Insurance Company with an M4 Smart-Sensor System

CHESHIRE, CT – Park Assist, recently merged with TKH Security, has been selected to install its camera-based M4 smart-sensor Parking Guidance System (PGS) at People’s Trust Insurance Company’s corporate campus. Located in Deerfield Beach, FL, People’s Trust Insurance Company is one of Florida’s top-selling homeowner insurance companies. In a fresh campus expansion, it built a brand new garage with over 500 spaces. The garage construction was completed in August of 2020 and is restricted to employees only.

Given the long-standing and strong local presence TKH Security (Park Assist) has in Florida and its proven ability to quickly deliver on projects, People’s Trust selected TKH Security (Park Assist) to elevate the employee parking experience.

Eager to enhance parking while improving its employee garage’s security, People’s Trust chose to add both the Park Alerts™ and Park Surveillance™ software modules to its PGS to protect its employees and ease any security concerns.

Upon entry, TKH Security’s Park Assist PGS is used to help quickly guide employees to available parking spaces using color-coded smart-sensors and digital wayfinding signage. This continually updated guidance information enables parkers to decide on the best location to park at any given moment.

While the M4 PGS helps increase parker satisfaction and enhances garage efficiency, the Park Alerts and Park Surveillance software add-ons improve garage security and control. The camera-based smart-sensors have a unique vantage point of the parking facility. With unobstructed views of the areas in and around the bays as well as the spaces in between vehicles, the Park Surveillance software module enables these sensors to capture and store streaming video of any motion in the garage, protecting against theft, vandalism, unwelcome intrusions, and other criminal activities. Additionally, the Park Alerts software extension allows parking management to set automated rules and alerts that help staff enforce policies and remain vigilant about parking abuse, unwanted activity, and policy violations within the garage.

“People’s Trust Insurance Company was a special project for our team. Despite ongoing COVID-19 challenges, People’s Trust truly believed TKH Security (formerly Park Assist) could deliver a state-of-the-art camera-based system and improve peace of mind for all employees and staff. Ownership was particularly looking forward to utilizing our Park Surveillance feature to enhance security for its newest asset. We are delighted to be a part of this exciting new project and look forward to future expansions on campus.” – said Thomas Alexander, National Channel Manager.

Site work began in October and is slated for completion by the end of February.

This is the first corporate campus project TKH Security (Park Assist) has been awarded in Florida, but its 10th installation throughout the state.

Charleston International Airport Debuts New Parking Garage Featuring Advanced Parking Guidance System Technology

Parking space sensors and signage enhance travelers’ parking experience by making it faster and easier to locate available parking

Charleston, SC— December 7, 2020 —  Charleston International Airport opened its new parking garage with a ribbon-cutting ceremony last week, just in time for the busiest travel period of the year, which is typically between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  The new 3,000 space parking garage, features multi-space parking guidance sensors, a rooftop parking sensors, internal wayfinding and external signs along the road and the entrance. “When we planned for this new garage, it wasn’t simply about adding more spaces, we wanted to make sure our customers could locate an available space faster and have a more enjoyable parking experience,” said John Robison, Manager of Landside Operations. “The addition of the parking guidance system accomplishes that goal.”

Charleston’s new Daily Parking Garage is now also the largest parking structure in South Carolina to feature parking guidance technology. “We’ve installed this system in several airports across the country,” said Derek Frantz, Vice President at Parking Guidance Systems, LLC. “We worked closely with Charleston Airport officials and the building contractor to make sure the system not only met their design needs, but performance demands as well.” To ensure the garage aesthetics were not compromised, PGS worked side-by-side with the contractor and embedded the Upsolut Multi-space sensor infrastructure within the concrete slab during construction.

New Garage Serves Rental Car Agencies as Well as Air Travelers

The new garage has five levels, the first is dedicated to rental cars and levels two through five, where the parking guidance technology is installed, are for the general public. The combination of multi-space sensors and wayfinding signage allow the traveler to quickly choose a level and parking space based on their desire. The roof level also features INDECT Views, the latest in rooftop parking technology, for a similar experience. Customizable signage leading up to the garage previews the parking available, as well. “It’s been extremely well-received, thus far,” added Mr. Robison. “It’s great for our customers and also allows us to monitor and adjust our parking based on use and demand.”

Park Assist’s M4 Smart-Sensor System set to Transform Parking at Circa Resort & Casino’s Garage Mahal

Park Assist’s M4 Smart-Sensor System set to Transform Parking at Circa Resort & Casino’s Garage Mahal

LAS VEGAS, NV – – Park Assist® has been awarded the Parking Guidance System (PGS) contract for the Garage Mahal facility at Circa Resort & Casino. The new hotel and casino, currently under construction, is located on the famous Fremont Street Experience in downtown Las Vegas. It will have 777 guest rooms, five restaurants, a two level casino with the largest sports book in Las Vegas and a nine story parking garage dubbed the Garage Mahal, where Park Assist’s camera based M4 smart-sensor system will be installed.

With this new state-of-the-art facility underway, Circa Resort & Casino was eager to utilize the most advanced technology for all aspects of the project. Park Assist’s proprietary M4 camera based PGS was the ideal fit. The M4 system, designed to provide far more than just parking guidance, will ensure that all customers experience enhanced service and increased satisfaction from the start of their journey to the end, as they enter and exit the facility.

Along with Park Assist’s M4 technology, the Garage Mahal installation will also include several of Park Assist’s popular add-on software modules: Park Finder, Park Alerts, and Park Surveillance.

The camera based M4 smart-sensor system uses color-coded LED lights to guide drivers to vacant spaces. Prompted to change from red to green when spaces become available, these lights remove all uncertainty from the parking journey, reducing each customer’s search and park times. Upon returning to the garage, customers will be able to find their car just as quickly by utilizing Park Assist’s Find Your Car software add-on. This advanced vehicle locator feature uses license plate recognition (LPR) technology to pinpoint each customer’s car. Integrating with Circa’s PARCS system, guests simply enter all or part of their license plate number into a kiosk or mobile app and they are directed to their vehicle’s exact location within the facility.

Additionally, Park Assist’s Park Alerts and Park Surveillance software extensions provide an increased level of control and security in the garage. Using Park Alerts, parking management will be able to set and enforce automated rules and alerts – if any policies are violated they will be immediately notified so they can take the appropriate action. Park Assist’s Park Surveillance module brings an additional level of security by enabling the M4 sensors to capture streaming video of any movement in or around parking bays, helping parking management efficiently deter and quickly react to criminal behavior.

“Park Assist is very excited to partner with Circa Resort & Casino on our installation at Garage Mahal. Circa offers guests high-end services and amenities that will make it one of the most popular destinations in downtown Las Vegas – we are thrilled that Park Assist’s parking guidance technology will be leveraged to help ease stress, enhance the parking experience and increase ultimate customer satisfaction.”  Said Jeff Sparrow, Regional Account Manager.

Park Assist is working with GSL Electric to oversee the installation. Site work is already underway and the project is scheduled for completion by December 2020 for Circa Resort & Casino’s grand opening.

99.7% accuracy and many other benefits with Quercus Technologies’ camera-based parking guidance system at Children’s Health in Dallas, Texas

April 06, 2020

99.7% accuracy and many other benefits with Quercus Technologies’ camera-based parking guidance system at Children’s Health in Dallas, Texas

Considering the increase of urban population and traffic congestion, smart parking is always a strategic issue to work on, not only for the benefit of clients and their communities, but also from the raw benefit-driven point of view of owners and operators. In this path, companies committed to promote innovation of information and communication technology have played a major role. Quercus Technologies, a company with more than 20 years of experience developing and designing its own smart parking products and services, has contributed to change the way drivers experience parking into a more efficient and satisfying manner. Quercus Technologies’ contribution, its products and services, are all developed in-house, offering a comprehensive Parking Guidance System with powerful technology put on the service of both the operator and the client.

Of course during the last two decades, many different technologies have arisen, and the debate on which should be the most effective of them remains until today. The most popular alternatives to camera-based system are ultrasonics, laser and other similar systems. These are pretty basic. Their capability is simple, they can detect if a vehicle is parked on a space or not, and they are only capable of monitoring one space at a time. Unlike camera-based guidance systems, they are not able of getting any information of the parked cars. They do not read the plate number of the vehicles they detect, so they cannot tell if the detected vehicle is the same or a different one. They cannot inform the client of the whereabouts of their vehicle when they need to find it to leave the premises. They have no information about the journey of the vehicle on the parking lot so they cannot process such information. They can only give a yes or no answer to the question ‘is this space free?’. And nothing else.

How is it then, that some clients still dismiss camera-based systems? Well, some say alternative technologies are very reliable, their detection accuracy being better than the rest. While this was once the case, is it still so? Quercus Technologies, a company understanding the importance of proof to build solid foundations for future growth, has always relied on performing tests in order to lend weight to their arguments. For that reason Quercus Technologies recently performed a test to check the vehicle detection accuracy of their camera-based system, the Spot Control sensor, on the flagship Dallas Campus of Children’s Health. Texas-based NextGen Parking in collaboration with Quercus Technologies installed 990 Spot Control sensors in the premises, monitoring 3,314 spaces on 19 total parking levels (3 garages). The result obtained was an extraordinary 99.7%, a result that can easily compete with those of ultrasonic sensors.

Some others say it is because of the price of the products. Yes, it is well-known camera-based products are slightly more expensive than ultrasonic sensors and others, at least at first glance. Once you get to the installation things change quite a bit: performing an ultrasonic installation may be more expensive since sensors must be installed in each space, while camera-based sensors cover multiple spaces, resulting in a similar price of both technologies.

In comparison to ultrasonic or laser systems, Quercus Technologies’ guidance system is a comprehensive solution to every need a parking operator may have. In addition to guiding vehicles to free spaces, it offers control and surveillance in every park space, thanks to the use of LPR-technology and detailed event recording. The Spot Control sensor recognizes the license plate in every space, every unit controlling up to 4 spaces each and offering total control of the vehicle at all times. Meanwhile, video recording is triggered in the case of any event, avoiding not only robberies and assaults but also false claims for damages.

They inform about different kinds of spaces: for VIPs, people with disabilities, families, etc. They link every event they register to a license plate, returning all related information linked to that plate thanks to its powerful software suite and providing a comprehensive vision of everything happening in the parking lot any time. They provide organized, meaningful data, whenever it is requested by the operator, in order to optimize the parking management and marketing campaigns.

In conclusion, Quercus Technologies’ customers get every functionality without sacrificing efficiency. All camera-based system implies numerous benefits that are compatible with an extremely high detection rate and accuracy.
