ParkHelp Merges with Parking Sense, Expands Product Line

(Porirua, New Zealand – 4/29/20) ParkHelp and Parking Sense, leading providers of parking guidance solutions, recently announced the merger of the two companies to create the world’s leading provider of parking sensors and guidance systems for indoor and outdoor parking lots and structures.

The new company, ParkHelp Technologies, has significantly expanded its reach and product lines, creating the widest and most unified range of parking sensors available to customers on the market today.

ParkHelp, a parking guidance system company and early pioneer in single-space parking sensors for both indoor and outdoor parking facilities, was founded in Barcelona, Spain in 2004 by Alexis Puig. Parking Sense, the newer of the two companies, disrupted the the parking industry by offering a cost-effective, comprehensive, and easy to install suite of intelligent parking solutions.

The combined entity of ParkHelp Technologies is expected to exceed 1 million spaces under management in 2020.

News of the merger follows the appointment of Ed Robinson as CEO and executive director earlier this year, as well as Matt Taub being appointed Executive Vice President of Sales. Both Robinson and Taub will continue in their respective roles under ParkHelp Technologies. Alexis Puig, ParkHelp’s founder and CEO, joins ParkHelp Technologies’ executive team as Founder and General Manager EMEA and LATAM, and leads the design of next generation hardware and connected systems.

“This merger has proven to be a tremendous cultural and technological match,” said ParkHelp Technologies CEO Ed Robinson. “We now have super accurate single-space sensors for covered and uncovered parking, from desert to snowy conditions.”

ParkHelp Technologies’ combined set of sensors, including ultrasonic indoor sensors, outdoor wireless sensors, and car counters, will be immediately available to all existing customers and position the company as the premier provider of parking guidance systems.

In addition, ParkHelp Technologies is planning a Q2 release an improved outdoor sensor and a next generation parking camera to address critical gaps in smart parking technology as well as upgrading all sensors with Bluetooth capabilities.

Moving forward, ParkHelp Technologies will continue to invest in the depth and breadth of its product line as they lead the disruption of the parking industry.

“The future of parking will be built on the back of a robust network of sensors and an integrated technology platform combined with superior customer service—and we are very excited to be joining forces to help lead this change,” said Alexis Puig, ParkHelp’s founder and CEO.

The parking industry is estimated to be worth between $11 and $20 billion in the US alone, yet the smart/automated parking segment is still in the early stages of growth, with some researchers projecting an aggressive 13.4% CAGR between 2019 and 2025. With new leadership in place and as a result of this strategic merger, ParkHelp Technologies is well positioned to lead the industry through an exciting period of innovation and growth.

Parking Sense Announces Appointment of New CEO and Sales Leadership

Parking Sense Announces Appointment of New CEO and Sales Leadership

After large projects for organizations like Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and LA Metro, we recognized the need to concentrate on customer experience, sales and support processes.

NEW YORK , February 04, 2020

Parking Sense, the fastest growing parking technology company in the world, today announced new appointments to its executive leadership team. Ed Robinson has been appointed CEO and executive director, and Matt Taub has been named Executive Vice President of Sales. Both appointments are effective immediately. Former CEO Jake Bezzant has concluded his work with Parking Sense, and will no longer work in the parking industry. Parking Sense founder Paul Collins has resigned from the board of directors and will continue to serve as an advisor to the CEO.

These changes signify a new approach for Parking Sense. Robinson said, “After large projects for organizations like Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and LA Metro, we recognized the need to concentrate on customer experience, sales and support processes. This is important not just for Parking Sense, but for the parking automation industry as a whole, which is fragmented and often leaves customers wishing for more.”

Robinson has a history in high-growth technology companies, founding website optimization company Aptimize and growing through to acquisition by Riverbed Technology, then working with companies like MuleSoft until successful IPO and NGINX until acquisition by F5. “I started my career in the product group at Microsoft, where we learned quickly about connections. Technology doesn’t exist in a vacuum – its role is to help people solve serious problems you couldn’t solve otherwise. We’re in the business of connecting people to solutions,” said Robinson.

Matt Taub, EVP of Sales, joins Parking Sense from the manufacturing industry where he pioneered using customer experience management to achieve the highest customer satisfaction in the industry. “We start by listening to people,” said Taub. “Listening for the important problems – the ones that will increase revenue, decrease costs and improve customer experience. This is what we concentrate on. Above all else, you have to be honest, if we can’t help you we’ll tell you. It sounds simple, but it’s a lot of work – solving problems isn’t about saying yes to everything.”

Taub said, “To understand the problem Parking Sense solves, think of the parking experience at a hospital. If you have a 2:00pm appointment, drive to a parking garage at 1:45pm and find it’s full, you’re going to be late for your appointment. Parking is the first and last experience a patient has with a hospital. Late patients are unhappy to begin with, and that puts pressure on the medical staff.”

Parking Sense installs sensors and indicators in every space in a parking building, connecting these to signs, the Internet, and a mobile app so people can see parking availability ahead of time. If a hospital has several parking lots, the Parking Sense app and LED signs shows you where to find an empty space and gets you there quickly. The combination of these sensors and tools effectively increases parking availability by 20 percent.

“Where it gets really interesting, is when you connect that to the business,” said Robinson. “Early in 2020 we will release a reservation system for medical centers, so hospitals have the option to reserve parking for patients, further improving the experience. We’re also extending this to hospital staff, so they can be assured reserved parking is available during their shift.”
Robinson further explained, “What we’re doing here is starting with the best IOT hardware that detects parking occupancy, combining this with a wayfinding service and connecting this to other business services and customer experience management. We are not the only people doing this, but we have are only ones taking it further – using parking to improve customer experience. People park somewhere for a reason, and we are dedicated to improving that experience, so they forget about parking and have more time for what they really want to do.”

The parking industry is estimated to be worth between $11 and $20 billion in the US alone, yet the smart/automated parking segment is still in the early stages of growth, with some researchers projecting an aggressive 13.4% CAGR between 2019 and 2025. Parking Sense is well positioned to lead the industry through this exciting period of expansion.

Parking Sense’s reliable system saves time and makes parking easy

MULTINATIONAL FINANCIAL SERVICES CORPORATION INSTALLED PARKING TECHNOLOGY SYSTEM THAT REDUCED EMPLOYEES’ COMMUTE BY 20 MINUTES

Parking Sense’s reliable system saves time and makes parking easy

SAN FRANCISCO (Nov. 18, 2019) – When a multinational financial services corporation with operations in over 40 countries decided to eliminate one of its Phoenix, AZ campuses and move 3,000 employees to its main campus, major congestion due to increased traffic volume during peak parking and exit times was anticipated. Knowing that most of the transplanted employees would be coming from across town to the company’s 90-acre campus, the company sought out ways to make the commute as easy as possible.

The company, recognized among the top quarter of Fortune’s 2018 “100 Best Companies to Work For,” and one of the largest employers in the state of Arizona with more than 7,000 employees, selected San Francisco-based Parking Sense to maximize the efficiency of its parking garages. Considerations included how quickly employees would be able to get in and out of the garages, whether the system would be perceived as a perk, total cost, and whether the system would be nimble enough to stay on top of the latest innovations.

Since its implementation, use of Parking Sense’s technologically “evergreen” system and convenient mobile app has allowed the company’s employees to:

  • See where parking is available without wasting time circling the garages
  • Save an estimated 20 minutes of total commute time each day over what would have been spent without the system.

“In addition to saving their employees time and frustration, the installation of Parking Sense technology has reduced employee turnover and increased productivity,” said Matt Taub, Executive Vice President at Parking Sense. “Company executives also recognized that because the Parking Sense system remains fresh as a result of regular updates, the lifetime cost of its implementation makes it a no-brainer.”

Parking Sense’s parking system consumes very little energy, requires no personnel to operate, and always benefits from the latest innovations. Learn more about Parking Sense and its suite of intelligent parking solutions at www.parkingsense.com.

SYLVIA PARK SHOPPING CENTRE EXPANDS PARTNERSHIP WITH PARKING SENSE

Parking Sense’s guidance technology makes it easy for customers to find parking,

aligns with Centre’s sustainability efforts

AUCKLAND, NZ (Nov. 18, 2019) – Parking Sense, the fastest growing parking technology company in the world, today announced an expanded partnership with Auckland’s Sylvia Park, the largest shopping and mixed-use center in New Zealand. One of Parking Sense’s first customers, Sylvia Park has implemented Parking Sense’s infrared parking guidance technology in all of its parking buildings to date. The company now intends to add the technology to another 3,000 parking spaces as two major sites are constructed in early 2020 to complete the area.

Sylvia Park was built in 2005 with sustainability among its eight guiding principles. In addition to efficiently helping people find available parking since the technology was first installed in 2015, Sylvia Park has found use of the Parking Sense guidance technology to reduce circulation time and congestion, and reduce related vehicle emissions.

Kiwi Property, operators of Sylvia Park, is one of the biggest property owners in the southern hemisphere. The company’s sustainability efforts, of which deployment of Parking Sense technology is part, have resulted in a reduction in energy consumption by 4,800,000 kWh, enough to supply 598 typical homes for a year. In addition, the company has reduced its carbon footprint by 47%, and continues to be a leader in this space.

“We’re pleased to be expanding our partnership with Sylvia Park, and to help them meet their goal of reducing resource consumption and their carbon footprint,” said Jake Bezzant, Parking Sense CEO. “Our intention has always been to add value to parking operators. As evidenced by the success of our partnership with Sylvia Park, there’s a significant upside to those using our technology.”

Parking Sense’s parking guidance technology helps patrons find parking fast

October 28, 2019

USE OF SMART PARKING TECHNOLOGY HELPED LARGEST RESORT CASINO PROPERTY IN CALIFORNIA INCREASE ANNUAL PROFITS BY $60 MILLION

Parking Sense’s parking guidance technology helps patrons find parking fast

SAN FRANCISCO (Oct. 28, 2019) – The largest resort casino property California, also one of the largest in the country, has increased its annual profits by an estimated $60 million after deploying smart parking technology offered by San Francisco-based Parking Sense, the fastest growing parking technology company in the world. The Southern California area resort casino, recognized as the most technologically advanced in the country, implemented Parking Sense’s guidance technology in an effort to manage increased traffic volume following a recently completed $300 million expansion project that doubled the resort’s size.

Use of Parking Sense technology has allowed the resort casino property to effectively manage its 11,000 parking spots across three garages and provide patrons with up-to-the-minute, accurate information about available parking.

In addition, implementation of Parking Sense technology has given the resort casino the ability to:

  • Recoup the cost of its expansion significantly faster than anticipated
  • Ensure accurate valet staffing levels
  • Establish a Four Diamond experience for patrons from the moment they arrive on-site
  • Speed up parking to offer a better guest experience
  • Know precisely how many people are parked in the garages at any point during the day
  • Better manage existing, available parking spots
  • Understand parking patterns
  • Better predict revenues, and
  • Increase value to its VIP program

“Implementation of Parking Sense technology has reduced instances where patrons previously turned around and left because they couldn’t easily find available parking,” said Matt Taub, Executive Vice President at Parking Sense. “For example, the Parking Sense system data revealed that a lower level in one of the garages was only reaching 1% capacity while all other levels were reaching about 92%. This had huge revenue repercussions as the average casino spend is $578 per visit and the average car arriving at the resort brings 2.1 patrons.”

Bringing the lower level’s capacity up to match the other levels, the resort had the potential to gain more than $1 million per weekend and over $60 million over the course of the year, according to the resort’s chief data analyst. Using this information, the resort took advantage of the Parking Sense app to assign spots in the lower-level garage, bringing capacity up.

Parking data also revealed that disabled-reserved parking spots on the upper levels of a new garage were sitting empty while spots on the ground level routinely filled up. Disabled visitors were parking in spots farther from the elevator on the first floor rather than driving up to a higher floor and taking advantage of handicapped-reserved spots closer to the elevator. As a result of access to this data, the property added more handicapped-reserved spots on the ground level to accommodate the first floor parking preference of its disabled guests.

“Because Parking Sense technology is scalable, can be easily upgraded and is essentially ‘future proof,’ the total cost of ownership of the system can be reduced by 80% over its lifetime,” continued Taub.

CITY OF ANAHEIM HIRES PARKING SENSE TO EASE DRIVERS’ ABILITY TO FIND PARKING AND REDUCE TRAFFIC

June 06, 2019

CITY OF ANAHEIM HIRES PARKING SENSE TO EASE DRIVERS’ ABILITY TO FIND PARKING AND REDUCE TRAFFIC

App-based intelligent parking solutions to be deployed across nine locations and over 3,000 parking spaces in phase one; additional locations to be added over term of five-year contract

ANAHEIM, Calif. (June 6, 2019) – Working toward the goal of being the first true “smart city,” the City of Anaheim has selected San Francisco-based Parking Sense to deploy its suite of intelligent parking solutions across nine locations and over 3,000 parking spaces. Use of the Parking Sense technology will allow drivers to easily locate and pay for available parking, and reduce the time it takes to find parking by 50%. The initial locations selected for use of Parking Sense’s technology represent phase one of a five-year contract that will expand to include a wider service area within the city as the contract progresses.

Based on Bluetooth and infrared technology that is 99.9% accurate, Parking Sense’s app-based parking system guides drivers to available parking spaces and allows for digital payment, creating seamless parking experiences that reduce related stress for drivers. The efficiency offered also reduces related vehicle emissions by 50%.

Parking Sense’s technology is disrupting the traditional parking and transportation models, and has the ability to provide real-time and historical data to parking operators. This data can be used to increase revenue by making better use of existing parking spaces, reduce the number of drivers who give up and leave a parking lot, enable flexible and dynamic pricing by time of day and day of the week, and more.

“The City of Anaheim realized that real-time parking data and wayfinding are critical components to reach efficiencies in utilization of our available parking supply,” said John Woodhead, City of Anaheim Community and Economic Development Director. “We proactively sought technologies and solutions to assist with achieving our vision. We are excited to partner with Parking Sense to install a critical piece of our Smart Center City strategy that will provide residents, employees and visitors real-time access to parking information.”

Due to its open API, the flexibility of Parking Sense’s technology will allow the City of Anaheim to work with neighboring partners like Disney and others to make it easy for drivers to locate and pay for parking.

“We realize that parking is the first thing people experience, and the last thing they remember when they visit a city,  business, or destination,” said Jake Bezzant, CEO of Parking Sense. “Use of our technology has proven it has the ability to minimize the amount of time spent looking for parking and create a better user experience. In their effort to become a ‘smart city,’ Anaheim is demonstrating they are on the leading edge by implementing technology that will reduce related traffic and transportation problems.”

Parking Sense offers a cost-effective, comprehensive, easy to install suite of intelligent parking solutions that are changing the way people have always thought about parking. Customers that include airports, corporate campuses, commercial properties, retail, healthcare and universities report that deployment of Parking Sense technology has reduced the time it takes drivers to find a parking space and vehicle emissions by 50%. It has also translated to a reduction of wear and tear on parking structures and ventilation systems, resulting in related cost savings.

PORT AUTHORITY OF NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY TO DEPLOY PARKING SENSE TECHNOLOGY AT ALL FIVE AIRPORT LOCATIONS

May 01, 2019

PORT AUTHORITY OF NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY TO DEPLOY PARKING SENSE TECHNOLOGY AT ALL FIVE AIRPORT LOCATIONS

App-based Intelligent Parking System Creates Seamless Experience for Drivers by Guiding Them to Available Stalls, Allowing Digital Payment and Reducing Related Vehicle Emissions by Half

NEW YORK (April 30, 2019) – Parking Sense, the fastest growing parking technology company in the world, has been selected by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to deploy its technology at five airport locations including JFK, LaGuardia, Newark Liberty, Stewart and Teterboro, with LaGuardia being the first installation in the first quarter of 2019.

Parking Sense’s app-based intelligent parking system guides drivers to available parking spaces and allows for digital payment, creating seamless parking experiences that reduce related stress for drivers and reduces related vehicle emissions by half.

“Our parking solutions have been implemented around the world, and have proven to be an effective, easy to install, and cost-conscious way for our partners to enhance the arrival and departure experience at their locations,” said Jake Bezzant, Parking Sense CEO. “Our partnership with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has the potential to change the parking-related behaviors and traffic patterns at the airports they are affiliated with, while simultaneously reducing vehicle emissions and their overall carbon footprint.”

Purposefully designed to reimagine the parking experience for drivers, parking managers and communities, Parking Sense’s technology reduces the time it takes to find a parking space by 50%. The technology works in three ways:

Parking Guidance – LED lights are installed in every stall, which indicates if the space is available, occupied or reserved. Signage at the entrance of the parking facility also shows where the available stalls are.

ParkUp™ Mobile App – Parking Sense’s ParkUp mobile app links with Bluetooth beacons in every stall. An alert opens on the users’ device that indicates all charges and/or time restrictions. The user can accept the charge and have a digital receipt sent to them. The app also provides a map of all spaces available, leads customers back to their vehicle and allows them to add additional charges for longer parking time. For added convenience, users can reserve parking spaces before leaving their house. The app also works to phase out barriers, which ultimately reduces waiting to exit or enter a parking garage, leading the fewer emissions from idling vehicles.

Asset and Data Management – Parking Sense offers real-time and historical accurate data management that continuously tracks all vehicles coming in and out of a parking facility. This allows property management to understand how the garage is operating and creates better insight on how to utilize each space.

Parking Sense star keeps rising

Cambridge (New Zealand) based parking technology company, Parking Sense, was named New Zealand’s top rising star at the recent 2016 Deloitte Fast 50 awards, beating off some of the most intense competition the awards have seen.

The Rising Star award recognises early stage, innovative, high-potential companies who are the next generation of fast 50 companies.

“Potential is a good word to use”, says Global CEO, Paul Collins. “We launched into the US and Europe last year and it’s fair to say we’ve had an incredible response. But when you consider the size of the market and how much it’s growing, we’ve really only scratched the surface.”

The market for smart parking spaces is forecast to grow from US $220 million in 2014 to US $985 million in 2019, and Parking Sense has developed an end to end system designed to enhance the driver experience and give car park operators significant opportunities to optimise revenue.

“We are moving from parking guidance to integrated parking solutions,” says Collins. “It’s all about getting drivers into parks quickly and efficiently and giving operators as many opportunities as possible to make money and extract data.”

Impressive progress is being made around the world with major deals already signed including a contract to install the Parking Sense system into 21,000 spaces in LA . “The LA Metro deal was the biggest deal of its kind this year in our industry,” says US CEO, Jake Bezzant. “And we’ve had many more wins including University of Washington, Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre, Darling Harbour and Dubai Mall. But the big story is in our pipeline which is very exciting to say the least. We are looking forward to the next 12 months!”

“We’re now planning our next moves,” says Collins. “Our user-based APP, ParkUp has gone live and it’s set to further transform the industry. This is a disruptive technology that gives users the ability to find, book and pay for parking spaces with one mechanism, while by passing present infrastructure.  This is the next generation of parking solutions.”

With bulging pipelines in the US and Australia, the next phase of investment will be Europe where the operation is showing early signs of the same growth trajectory. We aim to be in the fast 50 in the next two years, so it’s a case of watch this space.”

Amsterdam expo perfect platform for Parking Sense worldwide growth

By Tristan Hooker/MediaPA

Cambridge based parking guidance company, Parking Sense has enjoyed a highly successful four days exhibiting their products and networking at Intertraffic Amsterdam – the world’s largest expo of parking products and traffic technology.

Parking Sense, the company behind the innovative parking guidance system EasyGuide, was founded by Cambridge couple Paul and Jo Collins in 2014 and has expanded internationally with distributors and partners now in the USA and Europe.

“Intertraffic Amsterdam was an opportunity for Parking Sense for us to network with other leaders in parking and traffic management from around the world,” says CEO Paul Collins. “There were more than 800 exhibitors in attendance so it was important for us to be there and stamp our mark.”

It turned out to be a very smart move, with a distribution agreement signed with one of Europe’s leading distributors, Taxameter Centrale. Along with this, four large sales in Europe are being negotiated, a sale was made to a company based in UAE and contacts were made with interested parties from as far afield as Japan and South America. “It’s fair to say, we are delighted with the outcome,” says Collins.

“Taxameter Centrale is one of the highest profile distributors of parking guidance systems, parking optimization and enforcement solutions in Europe and a recognized industry leader,” says Parking Sense COO, Jake Bezzant. “ So I could not be more excited about this partnership. Taxameter Centrale base their business on excellent service and quality products. These are some of the attributes Parking Sense has been built on. This is an exceptional start for us as we roll our products out into the European Market. ”

Paul Collins believes it was the right call to exhibit at such a high profile event. “There’s only one way to take on an event like Intertraffic and that’s to look world class so I’m pleased it all paid off. And it’s great to be working with Taxameter again,” he says, “to launch a new line into Europe that’s changing the face of parking worldwide.”

Dierk Gruenig, Parking Sense Europe’s GM will be responsible for managing the project and is relishing the challenge. “It’s great to have made such fast progress since we launched in Europe. It all starts with a great product so we are looking forward to exploring more European markets and brining more partners and distributors on board. The new way of looking at single space recognition as we are doing it will now benefit parking operators and users across Europe.”
