NPA Announces New Leadership of Prestigious Parking Consultants Council

Washington, DC (February 25, 2016)—The National Parking Association (NPA) inaugurated new leadership for its elite Parking Consultants Council (PCC) at last week’s PCC 2016 Annual Meeting in Tampa, Fla. The following parking professionals will serve on the executive team of the PCC in 2016 and 2017:

  • Chair: Jerry Marcus, president and owner, The Parking Advisory Group
  • Vice-Chair: John Purinton, P.E., SE, principal, Watry Design Inc.
  • Secretary: Adam Cochran, P.E., vice president, Kimley-Horn and Associates

 

Jerry Marcus formed The Parking Advisory Group in February of 2012 after spending 13 years as the executive director and practice leader for a nationally recognized multidiscipline design firm. Before that he spent more than 20 years in parking management, including Vice President and Director of Business Development for a national parking management firm.  In all, Jerry has been in the parking industry nearly 40 years. Mr. Marcus has authored numerous articles for parking and industry publications including: Parking, Parking Today, The Parking Professional, Stadia, Pan Stadia, InterTraffic World and Passenger Terminal World. In Addition, Jerry was the author of the Introduction to the Urban Land Institute’s Dimensions of Parking fifth addition as well as, the first chapter on the newly published Sustainability of Parking first addition, jointly by, The National Parking Association and International Parking Institute.  In his role of PCC Chair, Mr. Marcus represents the group on NPA’s Board of Directors.

John Purinton, P.E., SE, a principal for Watry Design, Inc., has been creating parking solutions for over 25 years. A licensed engineer in 8 states who is responsible for the design of over 125 parking projects, he leads the design build vertical for the firm. In addition to ensuring that each project’s structural solution effectively integrates with the parking layout and architectural design, John continues to investigate innovative structural solutions to our client’s problems. This is a vital role when considering the structural system usually accounts for 60 to 70% of the project construction cost. As an active member of the Parking Consultant’s Council, John contributed to several chapters of the latest edition of The Dimensions of Parking and has both written and spoken on design build delivery and the cost of structured parking. He is a California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo alumni with a Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering.
Adam Cochran, P.E. has served as a structural engineer with Kimley Horn and Associates for nearly 17 years. He currently serves as a vice president for the civil engineering firm. Mr. Cochran received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Clemson University. This is his second two-year term as secretary for the PCC.

Facility managers can complete an LED upgrade in seconds by installing the Helen LED T8 into existing fixtures, including; troffers, pendants and shop lights. Lunera’s proprietary BallastLEDTM plug and play technology enables the existing Instant Start, Programmed Start or Rapid Start T8 fluorescent electronic ballasts to power the lamp.

Once installed, the high efficacy Helen Lamp T8 emits beautiful light over 330 degrees of its surface. It has a Color Rendering Index (CRI) of 83 and delivers up to 1,800 lumens of usable light. The lamps are available in 3000K, 3500K, 4000K or 5000K color temperatures to suit most applications. The Helen Lamp T8 is constructed from glass rather than plastic for superior optical efficiency.
