  • ●  Parkopedia partners with Desay SV to provide market-leading parking services including payments to Chinese automakers and their drivers
  • ●  Drivers will benefit from Parkopedia’s industry-leading on-street and off-street parking data, as well as payments via in-vehicle QR codes
  • ●  Almost 90% of drivers in China struggle to find available parking and less than 1% pay for parking with cash according to a 2021 survey6 December 2022 – Shanghai, China

Leading connected car services provider, Parkopedia, has partnered with intelligent cabin and driving solutions provider, Desay SV, to provide a suite of parking services, including parking data and in-vehicle QR code parking payments to Chinese automakers and their drivers.

    Market Leading Parking Data

With the total number of registered passenger vehicles in China now exceeding 302 million, and just 80 million public parking spaces available, finding available parking in China is a growing concern for drivers. Parkopedia’s 2021 driver survey, carried out in partnership with Zhongyan, found that 90% of drivers struggle to find parking, blaming a lack of accurate information, with 70% expecting automakers to provide them with accurate parking information as part of their connected vehicle services.

Recent Ground Truth Testing carried out by data analysts, Frost & Sullivan revealed Parkopedia’s data to be the most accurate and complete static and dynamic data for both, on and off-street parking data in China. Parkopedia will now provide Desay SV with its market-leading on-street and off-street parking data, covering all major cities and towns across the country, ensuring seamless parking experiences for Chinese drivers.

    Seamless QR code payments

Parkopedia’s 2021 survey also found that drivers in China have now embraced cashless parking payments with less than 1% still paying for parking with cash, and the most popular payment method is via smartphone QR codes.

Parkopedia collects accurate parking payment QR codes for each location and embeds these into the vehicle’s infotainment system to be displayed to the driver in the correct location or zone. Drivers can then scan the QR code on their vehicle screens with their smartphone before exiting a parking facility and without leaving the vehicle, avoiding time wasted waiting to pay at toll gates or spent searching for payment QR codes displayed around parking facilities.

Hans Puvogel, COO of Parkopedia, commented: “It is an honour to partner with Desay SV to provide our suite of connected parking services to Chinese automakers and their drivers. The growing trend of driver-centric connected experiences means that parking information is an essential service by drivers of electric and connected vehicles. As a key element of Desay SV’s infotainment services, we are able to save drivers time and effort by providing seamless parking experiences directly from within their vehicles with unparalleled coverage and accuracy.”

Qingchun Qin, VP Connected Vehicle Services at Desay SV, added: “Our basket of selected connected services based on driver demands provides automakers with a complete and easy solution for their infotainment ecosystem. Parkopedia is the leading connected parking service provider that makes it an unmissable part of our infotainment ecosystem which we are looking forward to partnering with long term.”

TKH Security Obtains Additional Innovative Patent

Cheshire, CT – We are proud to announce TKH Security (formerly Park Assist) has been recently granted an additional United States patent. In effect as of November 1, 2022, the patent is for systems and methods for identifying vehicles using wireless device identifiers.

“The new patent demonstrates our continuous innovative process. The R&D team consistently strives to improve our ability to uniquely detect vehicles in parking garages and surface lots.  I’m proud of their dedication and dynamic skillset,” said VP of Product Management Scott Dubois. “When combined with our M5 Smart-Sensor System, this technology provides the opportunity to further assist with decreasing the number of vehicle identification challenges asset owners and operators encounter on a daily basis.”

US Patent No. 11,488,471, which is part of TKH Security’s patent portfolio, has the potential to enhance TKH Security’s third generation smart-sensor for a camera based automated parking guidance system (APGS), the M5. This recognition reaffirms TKH Security’s proprietary technology as the world’s only patented camera-based APGS. In 2016, TKH Security originally established M4 as the parking industry’s first patented smart-sensor for camera based APGS.

“We’re pleased to receive the intellectual property protection the USPTO has granted us with the issuance of this patent. It provides us with the comfort that our inventions are protected. It also encourages us to invest more and continue to innovate, creating new solutions for our clients and prospects,” said North America General Manager Pete Messman.

TKH Security’s M5 Smart-Sensor camera-based APGS provides drivers the means to efficiently find an available parking space. Each smart-sensor can monitor up to six parking spaces simultaneously. The bright, red and green color-coded LED light on the smart-sensors instantly visually direct motorists to available spaces.  Reducing time to parking by up to 63%, the APGS helps drivers arrive to their destination quickly.

For owners and operators, the M5 contributes a wealth of data, ready for custom configuration, to assist with decision-making on the macro level and for day-to-day operations. The analytics and insights increase garage utilization and revenue maximizing. The crisp video feed provides Security personnel with an additional vantage point within the garage, specifically between vehicles where crime often occurs.  The smart sensor system can also provide vehicle identification, flexible specialized parking, and a competitive advantage.

eleven-x’s eXactpark Solution Selected by the City of Guelph to Improve Parking Access and Urban Mobility

November 30, 2022

eleven-x’s eXactpark Solution Selected by the City of Guelph to Improve Parking Access and Urban Mobility

The solution will provide real-time space status availability and intelligent enforcement to help residents and visitors more easily find parking and reduce traffic

WATERLOO, Ontario, November, 30, 2022 — eleven-x, a global leader providing complete, high-performance, wireless IoT and Smart City solutions, today announced it was selected by the City of Guelph to help the municipality improve the management and oversight of their two-hour free parking program by implementing the company’s innovative eXactpark™ solution. eleven-x’s smart parking solution enables comprehensive parking monitoring via a real-time sensor-based stall occupancy technology and a comprehensive software and parking intelligence platform to enable effective management of the city’s parking assets.

The City of Guelph is a vibrant community of over 143,000 people situated in the heart of southern Ontario with a thriving city center. eXactpark will enable the city to better manage its limited parking resources and reduce traffic congestion by providing  real-time parking stall occupancy data, and software to use this data to manage parking assets and implement advanced intelligent enforcement capabilities.

The comprehensive solution incorporates eleven-x’s award winning, patent pending SPS-X sensor, which provides the stall occupancy data to the eXactpark software suite.  The sensor utilizes multiple technologies including magnetic sensing, radar, Bluetooth, along with advanced edge processing,  to provide industry-leading battery life, reliability and most importantly accuracy. Sensors will be installed in two phases, starting with 250 stalls across the municipality’s unique downtown district, with an additional 1,750 projected to be deployed throughout the city to provide advanced real-time analytics of key parking metrics. The eXactpark software suite not only provides parking intelligence software to the city but  will also enable intelligent parking enforcement capabilities so the city can improve its monitoring capabilities for its two-hour free parking program. The sensors will detect how long vehicles are parked in, a space and will be used to enforce the free two-hour limit and to inform longer-term planning for parking needs.

“Many municipalities have free parking policies. It is typically challenging to efficiently monitor, manage and ensure usage compliance for a resource that is offered free of charge. This makes it difficult to maintain the best experience for drivers, since it leads to excessive traffic, and frustrates residents, visitors and ultimately the small business owners who rely on them” said Dan Mathers, President and CEO of eleven-x. “the capabilities that eXactpark provides, including real-time availability and intelligent enforcement, will help the City of Guelph to streamline parking operations, resulting in cost savings,  while at the same time reducing traffic and improving access to downtown businesses.”

eXactpark’s intelligent enforcement and real-time status and monitoring capabilities are essential to the city as it helps reduce cruise times, improves road safety and reduces greenhouse gas emissions. The data and insights provided by the smart parking solution will also provide the City of Guelph actionable insights to help with parking asset planning and dynamic pricing initiatives.

“This technology will help make parking downtown easier and more convenient. Eventually, this data will be available on our website so visitors will know – in real time – how many parking spaces are available before they head downtown. These sensors will also improve road safety and lower greenhouse gas emissions across the city.” said Jamie Zettle, Program Manager, Parking at the City of Guelph. “We decided to partner with eleven-x since we have seen the successful deployment of the company’s eXactpark solution in multiple major cities and institutions across North America.”

eXactPark uses LoRaWAN®, a low-power technology that offers a 10-year battery life and minimal maintenance. For more information on eleven-x’s eXactpark solution please visit exactpark.com.

QUERCUS TECHNOLOGIES ROUNDS OUT ITS OUTDOOR GUIDANCE SYSTEM WITH AN INFORMATION TOTEM

November 22, 2022

QUERCUS TECHNOLOGIES ROUNDS OUT ITS OUTDOOR GUIDANCE SYSTEM WITH AN INFORMATION TOTEM

To make its offering in guidance solutions even more comprehensive, Quercus Technologies is launching its outdoor digital information Totem. The Totem informs users entering and driving through an outdoor parking lot on the availability of parking spaces on the main and secondary aisleways, and restricted areas, and the direction to take to reach them, in real time. This is a major step forward to streamline mobility and automate the parking facility.

The information signage that can be achieved with the Totem is especially designed for outdoor or rooftop parking facilities, where parking guidance systems are needed that help improve the parking process and maximize occupation of the available space. One of the most common complaints that parking users make about the facilities is the lack of directional signposting at key points of the lot or garage. Digital signage brings much more from a guidance perspective than directions painted on the floor or on columns which, in fact, are easy for drivers to overlook. The signaling achieved with equipment like the Totem can be set at the height of drivers’ eyes. It is a catalyst for increased visibility by the user and with it, a better overall parking experience.

The Totem shows the number of available spaces and the direction to
take to locate them in real time. It is a visual guide that offers directions
to drivers accessing the parking facility, which makes it much easier and
convenient to find a parking space in record time. The SC Outdoor system sends all of the information on parking space availability to the Quercus Technologies parking software platform, where the data gathered are processed and transformed into useful information shown by the Totem in real time. This management system centralizes and inter-relates the information gathered by all of the products that make up the comprehensive parking solution, to have a complete, and much more accurate control over the parking lot.

A Totem’s added value lies in its interoperability with the rest of the products that make up the outdoor parking solution through the BirdWatch software platform. The perfect combination of SC Outdoor cameras, matrix LED panels and now, the Totem, all adds up to increased satisfaction of parking facility users, by cutting down on congestion and raising vehicle rotation rates inside the parking facility. It should also be noted that the outdoor guidance system dovetails with the equivalent indoor system in the case of mixed parking garages.

The different functionalities of BirdWatch, along with this new device for outdoor use, enables the generation of reports that identify parking usage patterns, and with them, continued work on improvements that raise profitability, achieve efficient parking management and added security on the premises where they are deployed.

| How does the outdoor guidance system improve with a Totem?

  • Space occupation notification for parking lot operators and users.
  • Display of data in real time.
  • It can be combined with other types of signage already being used in the parking facility.
  • Promotes dynamic parking space searches.
  • Designed to be high performance, and high-visibility, in outdoor use scenarios.
  • Indication of available spaces with 2 digits and colors (green, orange or red). Colors will change depending on the availability of parking spaces.
  • Designed specifically for outdoor and rooftop parking facilities.
  • Compatibility around the world (according to the regulations of each country).Installation of a Totem meets one of the key requirements for optimal parking operation and management. Digital signposting empowers parking facility operators to show their essential information at key points such as entrances, or at intersections. Totem technology is suited to any outdoor parking area, and can either be installed at the center of the lot or to one side of the sidewalk.

Tattile: Highway traffic management in Republic of Srpska

Six lane controlled-access highway in Poland.

In order to better utilize the capacity of the traffic network, improve the overall performance of the traffic system in all conditions, as well as to raise the level of traffic safety, advanced traffic management systems or Intelligent Traffic Systems (ITS) are utilized to monitor, control and manage the traffic flow. The ITS system on the highway Banja Luka – Doboj covers the section from the Tovira interchange (Johovac) to the Kostajnica (Rudanka) interchange. It includes, within a single platform, integrated systems for traffic monitoring, management of variable traffic signals, speed control and traffic lanes usage definition, road weather condition measurement and informing traffic participants about them, video surveillance, detection of traffic parameters and a system for oversized vehicle detection. The ITS system is modular and adaptable in terms of functionality and size, enabling it to expand and adapt to future infrastructure requirements.

The integrated automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology is part of the ITS system, which automatically takes pictures of each passing vehicle’s front, angle, or rear. Its processing software automatically detects and reads the vehicle license plates and takes action depending on the recognition results, e.g., transfer of results to the central system for further processing. The cameras used are intelligent Tattile Smart 2HD, a model specifically designed for outdoor installation and reliable performance day and night in all weather conditions. The Tattile Smart 2HD cameras enable vehicle data collection at a maximum vehicle speed of 250 km/h. Cameras are installed on portals and pillars and work 24 hours / 7 days a week. In the next step, the highway operator Autoputevi Republike Srpske plans to further exploit the abilities of the Tattile Smart Cameras by activating system functionalities such as recognition of vehicle brand and color as well as vehicle class. Also, average speed measurement or section speed control is currently planned to be installed using the Tattile camera technology. Such additional information may be particularly useful to a third party, such as, e.g., traffic police, in performing their duties. In addition to further expanding the data generation on the current highway section, the highway operator intends to expand the entire system to more highway sections in the Republic of Srpska.
