The nation’s leading parking technology company welcomes longtime technology entrepreneur and advisor as its chief executive; founder Aashish Dalal becomes Chairman

Chicago, March 6, 2018 – ParkWhiz today announced Yona Shtern as its new chief executive officer, assuming the role from founder Aashish Dalal who will become Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors. The move positions ParkWhiz to continue to accelerate its growth, as it redefines the last mile of transportation for millions of people through their mobile devices and connected vehicles.

Shtern is an entrepreneur with an expertise in building and managing successful global brands in e-commerce, telecommunications and fashion retail. He was co-founder and CEO of Beyond the Rack, a well-known e-commerce marketplace which connected 15 million consumers with over 5,000 fashion and lifestyle brands. Shtern has served as the ParkWhiz Chairman for the past year.

“The Board and I spent a great deal of time searching for the right person to help lead ParkWhiz to the next level,” said Dalal. “Yona is an experienced leader who believes in what we’ve built, but also recognizes how vast our opportunity is for growth.”

The transition comes 11 years after Dalal founded ParkWhiz. He created the company to simplify the parking experience and to remove the hassles of everyday travel. “ParkWhiz is a company that is redefining a number of industry verticals. It mirrors my experience in the wireless and e-commerce sectors in which I oversaw rapid adoption of a better consumer paradigm,” said Shtern. “It’s exciting to be at that stage of adoption again – powering the platform which enables consumers, devices and connected cars to interact with mobile services like parking.”

In addition to Shtern, the company has attracted a number of key executives to its leadership team over the past year as it continues to drive growth, including Dan Roarty as President and Chief Operating Officer, Jeff Judge as Chief Technology Officer and Ed Lewis as Senior Vice President of Business Development.

ParkWhiz launches new Amazon Alexa skill

ParkWhiz launches new Amazon Alexa skill

Drivers can now ask Alexa to find and book parking; ParkWhiz becomes first parking app to integrate voice commands

ParkWhiz today announced the launch of a new parking skill for the Amazon Alexa service, allowing customers to use voice-activated commands to find, reserve, and pay for parking.

The ParkWhiz skill for Alexa offers a hands-free method to find a parking space near an address, calculate the walking time to their destination and book parking on ParkWhiz.com. Once booked, drivers will receive an email notification with their parking pass which they can display on their smartphone for validation.

ParkWhiz takes the lead as the first on-demand parking service to develop this skill. The company believes that incorporating voice-activated technology into its transactions will increase both safety and convenience for drivers when this capability is available in cars. This integration is the first step in that journey to shape the future of transportation.

“ParkWhiz is committed to providing the best possible experience to our customers so we’re investing in the rapidly evolving field of voice-centered interactions to help deliver on that goal,” said Elizabeth Lindemulder, vice president of product at ParkWhiz. “Our skill for Amazon Alexa shows how we are delivering a friction-free experience. We want to give our customers more ways to find and book parking using whatever device they choose.”

Owners of Alexa-enabled devices, such as the Amazon Echo and Echo Dot, can easily begin a ParkWhiz conversation with simple commands and questions related to their parking needs. The ParkWhiz skill for Alexa is free to enable and available on any device that supports Amazon Alexa in English in the U.S. Simply go into the “Skills” section of the Alexa app, search for ParkWhiz, and click enable.

ParkWhiz expands in Boston to ease parking pains; surprises residents with “random acts of parking”

Parking Reservation App Rolls Out More Spaces for Boston Drivers

ParkWhiz expands in Boston to ease parking pains; surprises residents with “random acts of parking”

BOSTON, Oct. 18, 2017  — ParkWhiz announced today it has expanded its service in Boston to make more parking available to drivers, with rates in downtown Boston as low as $17 for a typical eight-hour workday.

Customers can now choose from more than 5,500 spaces at nearly 100 garages or lots in advance, removing the frustrations of driving in circles, surge pricing and parking tickets. The company will feature deals in congested areas like Back Bay, Fenway Park and the Theatre District, saving drivers up to 50 percent off standard rates.

To celebrate the expansion, ParkWhiz will launch its “Random Acts of Parking” campaign where Bostonians will receive free gifts over a four-week period. Rewards may include theater tickets, stadium seat upgrades, a dinner for two or paying for a person’s parking ticket.

“We identified Boston as an ideal market to expand our service since it’s one of the most expensive places to park in the country,” said Aashish Dalal, founder and CEO of ParkWhiz. “With the high demand for more affordable parking, we’re continuing to add new locations to give commuters a faster and more efficient way to free themselves from the hassles of everyday travel.”

By searching for parking with the mobile app and website, drivers can compare prices, review garage amenities and calculate the time to walk from their car to their destination. After booking a spot, customers receive a digital parking pass which they can display on their smartphone for validation.

Unlike other parking apps, ParkWhiz has integrations with auto manufacturers and major e-commerce platforms, such as Ford, Ticketmaster and StubHub.

Boston is the first city in ParkWhiz’s nationwide expansion. Announcements of new locations in other major cities will take place over the next six months, increasing the company’s network of garages and lots.

More than six million people have parked with ParkWhiz. The company partners with parking operators to give customers access to one of the world’s largest online parking inventories at approximately 7,000 sites nationwide.

Visa Extends Secure Payments to the Automotive Industry: Visa, Honda and ParkWhiz Showcase Apps that Let Cars ‘Pick up the Tab’

February 22, 2016

ParkWhiz1

BARCELONA, Spain & SAN FRANCISCO–MOBILE WORLD CONGRESS – Visa Inc. (NYSE:V) today announced it was making the Visa Token Service available to auto manufacturers, helping to pave the way for easy and secure car-based commerce. To further advance car-based commerce, Visa is also offering a range of related digital payment solutions, including new standards for Bluetooth (BLE) and QR codes that could help expand enablement of mobile payments for both merchants and consumers in any environment. As payments shift from plastic to digital, technologies built with Visa Token Service, provide an ecosystem of payment partners – from auto manufacturers to point of sale (POS) providers and beyond – a streamlined way to offer commerce and payments anywhere there is an Internet connection.

Car-Based Commerce

In partnership with Honda and ParkWhiz, Visa will demonstrate fuel and parking proof-of-concept apps at Mobile World Congress, February 22-25 in Barcelona, Spain (Hall 6, Exhibit Booth 6D40). Developed by Honda Developer Studio and fully integrated into Honda’s head unit, the fuel and parking proof-of-concepts are designed to bring greater simplicity and convenience to services and tasks consumers do every day. Both apps showcase Visa Token Service and feature Visa Checkout, Visa’s online payment service offering simple, one-touch payments. Additional features include:

· Fuel App Concept: Pay for gas in one click without leaving the car. The fuel app detects when the car is low on fuel and navigates the driver to nearby gas stations. Once parked next to the pump, the app knows the exact amount of gas needed to fill the tank and can calculate the cost to fill up. The driver can also purchase convenience store items with full integration of discount and loyalty/rewards programs.

· Parking App Concept: Just park your car, push the ‘park’ button on the app, and go. Designed in partnership with ParkWhiz for off-street parking spots, the parking app helps a driver pay only for the time used and helps avoid under- and over-paying. Once a parking session is ended, the elapsed time and amount paid are shown on the car’s dashboard, requiring the driver to simply press a button to complete the transaction.

Visa demonstrated car-based commerce as an industry-first at Mobile World Congress 2015, when it showcased how in-car payments could simplify ordering food at a quick service restaurant. Over the last year, Visa has continued to test and evolve in-car payments, including showing how to simplify the process of leasing or buying a car, or even managing services like auto insurance or road tolls, directly from the driver’s seat.

“The notion of transforming a car into a platform for payments is not as far off as some may think, and we have made a great deal of progress since first introducing the idea one year ago,” said Jim McCarthy, executive vice president of innovation and strategic partnerships, Visa Inc. “Working with Honda to test these prototypes gets us another step closer toward commercial reality, which we think provides exciting opportunities to everyone who plays a role in the payments and automotive ecosystems.”

“This project demonstrates how apps can truly transform the in-car experience while creating new opportunities for automakers,” said John Moon, developer relations lead for Honda Developer Studio.

“At ParkWhiz we are very focused on creating a frictionless, and of course safe, parking experience for drivers,” said Aashish Dalal, CEO, ParkWhiz. “Eliminating the need for drivers to take tickets or check out at pay boxes is a giant step toward a frictionless experience and a big win for drivers. ParkWhiz is thrilled to be partnered with Visa on this ground-breaking innovation.”

The companies currently expect to test the fuel app concept in Northern California and the parking app concept in New York City, both over a three-month period, starting this spring.
