SP+ Brings Technology-Based Parking Payment Options to City of New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, Dec. 07, 2022 — SP Plus Corporation (SP+), (Nasdaq: SP), a leading provider of technology-driven mobility solutions for aviation, commercial, hospitality and institutional clients throughout North America and Europe, has upgraded the on-street metered parking program in New Orleans to include pay-by-text and pay-by-plate options.

SP+ is the parking service provider for the City of New Orleans and uses its industry-leading Sphere® suite of technologies, specifically designed to streamline high-traffic parking programs and create a seamless experience for parking customers.

For the City of New Orleans, SP+ introduced its technology-based, paperless payment options to simplify the City’s on-street parking process by eliminating the need for parkers to print and display the proof-of-payment on their dashboard, thus also eliminating the issue of misplaced receipts.

Parking customers can use the text-to-pay option or download Parking.com and other popular parking apps to process their payment.

A pay-by-plate option launched simultaneously. Parkers simply enter their license plate number to purchase parking at the pay station and the enforcement system automatically recognizes the valid parking session.

ŠKODA launches new Pay to Park service in Europe

  • ●  The service allows users to pay for parking via the MyŠKODA App or their vehicle’s infotainment system
  • ●  Following a pilot phase in Switzerland, the service is now available in seven European countries, with plans to expand it to eight more European markets
  • ●  Collaboration with international connected car services provider Parkopedia

10 November 2022 – Mladá Boleslav, Czech Republic / London, UK

The new ŠKODA Connect service Pay to Park now makes parking easier in several European countries: ŠKODA customers can use the MyŠKODA App or their car’s infotainment system to display parking options, view the fees and pay conveniently. After a pilot phase in Switzerland, the service is now also available in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany and Norway. ŠKODA and Parkopedia are continuing to expand the service, with eight more countries coming soon.

Martin Jahn, ŠKODA AUTO Board Member for Sales and Marketing, emphasises: “Thanks to the new ŠKODA Connect feature Pay to Park, our customers can now find available parking spaces across Europe even faster and pay conveniently online using our MySKODA App or the infotainment system.”

    Further expansion planned

Following a successful pilot phase, ŠKODA AUTO is initially introducing Pay to Park in Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany and Norway. This will soon expand to a further eight countries – France, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden – before ŠKODA rolls out the service in other European markets in 2023.

App available in the infotainment and on mobile phone

Customers can use the service via the MySKODA App on their smartphone or the current Amundsen and Columbus infotainment systems. The in-car app is now available for the FABIA, KAMIQ, SCALA, OCTAVIA, KAROQ, SUPERB and KODIAQ.

    Easy registration

To use Pay to Park, customers must have an active ŠKODA Connect account and have remote vehicle access enabled. Once the payment data is collected in the MyŠKODA App and the service is activated, it can also be accessed instantly via the infotainment system, and ŠKODA drivers can see which parking spaces they can pay for online. When they reach a parking location, the driver can select the parking time and extend it using the app if necessary. Payment is made online after the parking session has ended.

Cleverciti: Welcome to Miami!

November 06, 2022

Cleverciti: Welcome to Miami!

Cleverciti is thrilled to announce our new partnership with the Miami Parking Authority (MPA). Cleverciti will work with the MPA to enable them to improve curb management operations, reduce curb abuse, and create a “white glove” parking experience for drivers.

Effectively managing the curb in the trendy Midtown neighborhood of Miami has become increasingly difficult in recent years. As traffic has increased, so has congestion and curb abuse from all vehicle types. In response, the Miami Parking Authority (MPA) piloted various technologies to help resolve these issues yet struggled to find a comprehensive platform that simultaneously tackled curb abuse, delivered driver guidance, and integrated payment methods with real-time occupancy data to reveal compliance levels.

Fortunately, as the MPA was shaping a revised strategy they learned of the Cleverciti solution implemented in Redwood City, California that solved similar challenges.  In partnership, the teams collaborated on a scalable solution designed to reduce congestion and curb management issues, while enhancing the driver experience for those parking in Midtown.

The initial phase of the MPA plan will concentrate on the heart of Midtown (Buena Vista Blvd, NE 1st Ave between 36thSt and 32nd St) and will include:

  1. 12 Circ 360 Ultras installed at intersections guiding drivers to available spaces.
  2. 43 sensors to monitor the complete curb providing a fully integrated view of payment compliance, occupancy status, and loading zone activity all from the Cleverciti Cockpit.
  3. The Cockpit will equip the MPA with new levels of analytical insights, full reporting features, heatmaps, a live view dashboard, and automated Clever Enforcement alerts to MPA staff to mitigate curb abuses.
  4. The MPA and Cleverciti will share data between systems using the Curb Data Specification (CDS), a digital tool created by the Open Mobility Foundation that helps cities and companies pilot and scale dynamic curb zones. The CDS provides a mechanism for expressing static and dynamic regulations, measuring activity at the curb, and developing policies that create more accessible, useful curbs.

As the project rolls-out, the MPA will use Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure congestion, curb abuse, and payment compliance. Based on project averages across Cleverciti’s global customer base, the MPA anticipates double-digit improvements in each category. Additionally, with access to Cleverciti’s comprehensive parking management platform, the MPA will look to integrate existing technologies to further streamline operations across its portfolio.

Cooperatively, the leadership of the MPA and Cleverciti have committed to finding and sharing answers to elusive curb management questions with the aim of moving the parking, mobility, and transportation industry forward collectively.
