ROSEVILLE, CA. Phil Haupt Electric, an electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE) installation company recently acquired a Phoenix Motorcars ZEUS 500 Electric Utility Truck through funds from Sacramento Emergency Clean Air & Transportation Grant Program (SECAT).

The Roseville based electric company, that happens to be the largest EV charging station installer in the Sacramento area is setting an example by not only providing electric charging solutions but by also driving electric. This is the first all-electric utility truck to be deployed by a private fleet in the USA.

The Ford E450 based electric truck is equipped with Phoenix’s second-generation drive system, with both Level II & Level III fast charging capability. “Phoenix is proud to be delivering the first zero emission utility truck being deployed to a private fleet in the country. We are excited to partnering with SMAQMD and Phil Haupt in advancing zero emission transportation.”, says Jose Paul, Director Business Development.

An all-electric zero-emission utility truck like the ZEUS 500 provides significant environmental and economic benefits. Phil Haupt Electric’s new utility truck is expected to reduce atmospheric emissions by ~60 tons of CO2 annually. In addition to minimizing CO2, the truck will provide Phil Haupt Electric with sizable savings in fuel and maintenance costs. The zero-emission electric truck reduces fuel costs by 80% and maintenance cost by 50% as compared to a gas shuttle. ZEUS has a fast charging capacity and can reach a full charge in three and a half hours and has a range of up to 110 miles per charge.

The Sacramento Emergency Clean Air Transportation (SECAT) Program is administered by the Sac Metro Air District and with the goal to promote zero and near-zero emission on-road heavy-duty vehicles operating in the Sacramento region. “The Sac Metro Air District has worked with Phil Haupt Electric on many projects to promote zero emission vehicle technology in the Sacramento, and we are excited about the delivery of a zero emission truck under the SECAT Program to be used to help install electric charging stations in the region.”, says Kristian Damkier, PE Assoc. Air Quality Engineer.

When asked about the ZEUS 500 Utility Truck, Phil Haupt, owner of Phil Haupt Electric said, “We love our Phoenix truck! Zero gas, zero oil changes, and it will carry all our tools and equipment. Let’s go to work!”

COLTON ELECTRIC UTILITY TO RECEIVE A PHOENIX MOTORCARS ALL ELECTRIC UTILITY TRUCK TO SERVICE ITS COMMUNITY

COLTON, California— San Bernardino County’s City of Colton Electric Utility is due to receive its first all-electric zero emission utility truck from Phoenix Motorcars, on the heels of a record breaking 87 days of bad air quality in the summer of 2018.

San Bernardino County is ranked amongst the top counties with bad air quality given the recent rise in warehouses in the region that require constant freight movement.  More than 75% of the goods imported to Southern California ports are transported by rail or road to distribution facilities throughout the county. To promote a clean, green community, and reduce atmospheric emissions, Colton’s Public Works Department will be utilizing the all-electric zero-emission utility truck to service irrigation around the City. The all-electric zero-emission utility truck is expected to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 60 tons of carbon dioxide per year as compared with a conventional utility truck of its size. This will prove helpful in achieving the city’s identified Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reduction target.  The City of Colton aims to reduce its community GHG emissions to a level that is 15% below its 2008 GHG emissions level by 2020.

Aside from the many environmental benefits of utilizing electric vehicles, the Phoenix Motorcars Utility Trucks also offer significant cost benefits over the total life of the vehicle. “We provide our clients with substantial savings in fueling and maintenance costs”, says Emad Fakhoury, CEO of Phoenix Motorcars. “We are excited to partner with the City of Colton, forward-thinkers, whose goal is to promote sustainable transportation and reduce atmospheric emissions”, he continued.

“I am looking forward to city staff enjoying all the benefits I experience driving an all-electric car  work. It’s healthier for our environment and meets our sustainability goals. As a City we need to lead by example.”  says Jessica Sutorus, Environmental Conservation Supervisor for the City of Colton.

The Phoenix Motorcars all electric zero emission utility truck is set to be delivered to Colton April, 2019.

Zero Emission Shuttle Buses Revolutionize the Parking Industry

with Cost Savings and Clean Air for Southern California

Ontario, CA. (October 31, 2017) Phoenix Motorcars L.L.C. was honored by the National Parking Association (NPA) with the 2017 Innovative Sustainability Project of the Year Award. Phoenix Motorcars was selected for the work done in partnership with the L & R Group of companies to bring the first fully zero emission electric shuttle fleet in the nation to Southern California at LAX airport. The award was presented at the annual NPA Convention & Expo, held this year in Palm Springs, CA, October 2-5th.

“We express our sincere gratitude to the NPA for this award.  We are excited to continue working with LNR and our other partners in supplying commercial fleets with proven electric vehicles that provide substantial operational and emission savings.” said Emad Fakhoury, Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Motorcars.

About the Project

Phoenix Motorcars collaborated with L & R Group of Companies to replace gas powered shuttle buses at Los Angeles International Airport with Phoenix’s Zero Emission Utility Shuttles (ZEUS) buses. L&R subsidiary, Wally Park Premier, deployed 16 ZEUS buses at the Los Angeles Airport, making it the first all-electric fleet of airport-parking shuttle buses in the USA. By deploying a total of 33 ZEUS buses, L&R will be able to convert 4.2 million gas miles to all-electric miles over a 5-year period and reduce tailpipe emissions significantly.

Through government incentives of as much as $100,000 per shuttle bus, the cost of switching to an all-electric fleet was kept to a minimum. The result is more than $3.6 million in total cost-of- ownership savings over an equivalent CNG fleet, due to lower fuel and maintenance costs.

“The NPA Innovation Awards recognize companies and individuals who demonstrate the highest professionalism and parking best practices while using leadership and state-of-the-art technology to improve safety, sustainability and bottom line results,” said NPA President Christine Banning, MA, CAE.
