To fearlessness and the victory of peace and freedom! – ParkNews.biz March 1-7, 2022

To fearlessness and the victory of peace and freedom! – ParkNews.biz March 1-7, 2022

“Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never—in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in, except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”
― Winston Churchill

We can never give up!  We can never give in! In war, in peace and thus in life!  Today, Ukrainian People, are showing us with their courage and their unity.   With their president Volodymyr Zelensky. The Poles especially, are showing us how to be the best neighbors.  People around the world, are reflecting on what is truly important in this life.  What makes the life worth living.  It is truly the fact, that we are not equipped for living for some illusory self pleasure.  The secret is serving and living for others.  Through work and daily life.  Then we as individuals get stronger.  Get more creative.  We experience more joy and lasting happiness.

In a bit over two months we will be seeing you in Reno, NV.  A few years ago, I heard a colleague say that perhaps we have too many conferences.  Now, I hear more and more people being eager, to go to any conference they can go to.  To travel and to be together.   The days of zoom and superficial connecting via our smart devices screens are over.  In person is what matters.  And in person, it is the way the work gets done.

We are excited about our seminars at PIE 2022.  Some of our speakers are, Dale Denda, Todd Tucker, Kevin Uhlenhaker, Sara Blouch, Brandy Stanley and many others.  And the key note will be the best because it is given by the IPMI’s Cindy Campbell.

For our awards, we have a fun and engaging magician who will MC our awards.  He will keep you engaged and on awaken to your wits.

In addition, we are excited about our Bowling Event.  You can’t go to Reno without bowling.

Please contact Marcy, marcy@parkingtoday.com to sponsor one of the bowling lane or ask her about other sponsorships opportunities, so your company gets extra visibility.  Also, you can find these options on the PIE 2022 website: https://pieshow.parkingtoday.com/schedule_glance.cfm

And this year, after being amiss in Dallas, our Speed Networking returns.  Once again, the drinks will be flowing and the connections will be made.

Albeit the world is upside down and the suffering of people in Ukraine is unfathomable, we must go on.  Otherwise, we are giving in to evil.  Churchill wouldn’t be pleased.

Slava Ukraini.  May the Lord bless Ukraine and the rest of us.  Peace and safety for all of us.

And please, if you can make a donation to the humanitarian efforts for Ukrainian Refugees.  There are many organizations.  If you need the name of one, please reach out to me at astrid@parkingtoday.com and I will share some links.

Have a blessed new week.

Thank you,

“Houston es la ciudad más diversa del país, por lo que ofrecer una versión en español de la aplicación es muy importante para la ciudad de Houston”, dice Tina Paez, Directora de Administración y Asuntos Regulatorios. “ParkHouston quiere que los pagos de estacionamiento sean lo más conveniente  posible para todos los residentes de Houston y visitantes de nuestra comunidad”.

World Port Center opts for TKH Security’s 5-star security management system

January 17, 2022

World Port Center opts for TKH Security’s 5-star security management system

As one of Rotterdam’s sky-high office towers, the World Port Center (WPC) saw its surroundings change from an old, dilapidated port area into an ultramodern and multifunctional district in just under twenty years. Recently, an inviting entrance was created for all tenants and visitors in the prestigious building, with a 5-star security management system.

About World Port Center

Any company can establish itself in the World Port Center (WPC), a building with international allure. The 124-metre office tower has been regarded as one of the most prestigious buildings in Rotterdam, for almost twenty years. The building’s architect is Sir Norman Foster, a British architect with a preference for open and light buildings. With a variety of tenants based in the building, a focus on hospitality along with the building’s security and safety are imperative.

A safe solution
Taking WPC’s wishes under consideration, TKH Security offered a security management system, called iProtect, to which all underlying systems could be connected. Every tenant has the option to set up the system separately for their specific needs, whereby the structure of the system meets the strictest security requirements of the government and is fully GDPR proof.

Providing easy access
The separation between the generally accessible areas and the offices in the WPC is realized by means of high-tech speed lanes on the ground floor. Central access is provided by means of facial recognition, smartphone or an access pass, depending on the choice of the tenants. Users and guests can request access rights and plan their visits via the web portal. Upon arrival, guests can then submit an access request themselves via a self-service terminal or they can contact one of the hosts or ladies.

Video surveillance
Several Siqura surveillance cameras have been installed at the entrance gates in the main hall. These are monitored via an integrated video surveillance system, called VDG Sense. Access and storage of images takes place at the user level in accordance with privacy guidelines.

Communication
A Commend-branded SIP intercom system is used to gain access to the various secured locations within the property. This system allows visitors to communicate with security from the entrance to the various secured areas, such as the bicycle shed, the supplier entrance and the waste container area.

“By introducing a new access control system in combination with facial recognition, WPC proves that you can work in a state-of-the-art office building with a 5-star security management system, without having to compromise on hospitality”, says Pleun Tasche – Asset Manager Real Estate at Unifore.

ParkMobile App Hits the 30 Million User Milestone as Demand for Contactless Payments Increases

The company rebounded from the impacts of COVID-19, setting new records for user growth, transaction volume, and revenue while expanding service into hundreds of new locations.

Atlanta, GA – December 14, 2021 – ParkMobile, the leading provider of smart parking and mobility solutions in the U.S., announced today that the company has reached the 30 million user milestone as the business continues to bounce back from the impacts of COVID-19. Year to date, ParkMobile has increased new users by over 130% compared to 2020. Additionally, the company has rapidly expanded availability across North America, launching over 200 new locations over the past twelve months. In June 2021, ParkMobile was acquired by EasyPark Group.

ParkMobile was founded in the U.S. in 2008, and it took the company nearly five years to acquire its first million users. Now ParkMobile adds a million new users approximately every thirty days. Over the past 13 years, the company has processed over 465,000,000 transactions totaling 75 billion minutes of parking time. In the second half of 2021, the company processed over 10.6 million parking transactions every month.

In 2021 ParkMobile introduced several new product innovations, making it easier for people to make contactless parking payments. Earlier in the year, the company launched a new web app with a guest checkout option that allows a user to pay for parking without having to download the full-featured mobile app or creating an account. The company also made it easier to create a ParkMobile account by allowing people to sign up using their Google or Apple credentials.  Additionally, ParkMobile partnered with Google to offer parking payments directly in the GooglePay app.

ParkMobile expanded its availability in 2021, launching service in over 200 new locations, including Sea Isle City, NJ, Elizabeth, NJ, Estes Park, CO, Lawrence, KS, Lafayette, LA, College Station, TX, Leavenworth, WA, and Redondo Beach, CA. The company also introduced service at several colleges and universities including, Colorado State University, Vanderbilt University, and the University of California, Davis, and Santa Barbara campuses. Additionally, ParkMobile launched its first location in Puerto Rico at the Distro T-Mobile entertainment district.

This growth and innovation have resulted in ParkMobile and its employees winning several prestigious accolades in 2021, including the Technology Association of Georgia’s IT Leader of the Year, Atlanta Business Chronicle CFO of the Year, the IPMI Marketing Award, and the Stevie Award for IT Department of the Year.

“2021 has been amazing for the business as we’ve rebounded from the last year, and we’re growing fast once again,” says Jeff Perkins, CEO of ParkMobile. “The adversity we’ve experienced over the past two years has made us stronger as an organization, and I am so proud of this team and everything we have accomplished. The future of ParkMobile is very bright.”
