Quarters To No Longer Be Accepted for Payment

Passport’s Mobile Pay Technology Causes Quarters to Become Extinct

Charlotte, NC- Still carrying around quarters to pay for parking? Not for much longer. The change you’ve been lugging around to feed the parking meter will soon be a thing of the past. The success of Passport’s mobile pay solutions across North America has caused quarters to become obsolete. Instead of carrying around change to pay for parking, drivers in cities like Boston, Chicago, Toronto, and Salt Lake City are using Passport’s mobile apps to pay.

Passport’s mobile solution lets users securely store their credit card onto their account to make payments as quickly and easily as possible. Because of this, drivers have ditched their quarters to save space in their pockets and wallets.

Passport’s success since the company’s launch in 2010 has caused a major disruption in the way drivers pay, but even they couldn’t have anticipated the demise of the quarter.

“We had always hoped that our solution would be successful and popular with drivers who are paying to park,” said Daniel Bliley, Marketing Director at Passport. “The popularity of our technology has exceeded our expectations — we’ll be sad to see quarters go, but we think that this will make payments easier for everyone.”

Quarters will no longer be accepted as a form of payment beginning April 1st.

April Fools!

As mobile payment technology progresses, Passport has gained valuable traction in the parking and transit industries. Although quarters are still a valid form of payment for parking, we hope to see a drastic decrease in usage of the coin. The ability to pay for parking with your mobile device gives users the option of ditching their wallet altogether.
