R.A. Smith National’s Bonnie Horning Receives Certified Administrative Professional Designation

 

BROOKFIELD, Wis. — Bonnie Horning, administrative assistant at R.A. Smith National — a nationwide, multi-disciplined civil and structural engineering and surveying firm — headquartered in Brookfield, Wis., has obtained her Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) certification from the International Association of Administrative Professionals (IAAP).

IAAP recognizes professional growth and lifelong learning through certification. Within the administrative profession, the IAAP CAP certification is the only professional certification recognized that includes all aspects of the office environment.

At R.A. Smith National, Horning’s responsibilities include technical editing, quality control, software training, document workflow management, in-house training coordination and company event assistance.

Horning has been employed with R.A. Smith National for nine years. She has more than 20 years of experience in the administrative profession.

Michael Kren Joins R.A. Smith National as Structural Engineer

BROOKFIELD, Wis. — Michael Kren has joined R.A. Smith National — a nationwide, multi-disciplined civil and structural engineering and surveying firm — headquartered in Brookfield, Wis., as a structural engineer in the structural services division.

Kren brings his experience with wood and steel building design projects to the firm. His primary role within the structural services division will be residential building design projects. Kren will also assist with bridge and retaining wall design projects for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) and local communities.

Kren holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Marquette University and will receive his master’s degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in structural engineering (also from Marquette University) this May.

Kren resides in New Berlin, Wis.

Nathan Vaughn of R.A. Smith National Selected Wisconsin’s Young Surveyor of the Year

BROOKFIELD, Wis. — Nathan Vaughn of R.A. Smith National — a nationwide, multi-disciplined civil and structural engineering and surveying firm — headquartered in Brookfield, Wis., has been awarded Young Surveyor of the Year by the Wisconsin Society of Land Surveyors (WSLS). The award was presented during the WSLS Annual Surveyors’ Institute on January 28, 2016.

The WSLS Young Surveyor of the Year award is presented annually to recognize the achievements of an outstanding land survey professional. Individuals who are named to receive this award are nominated by their peers due to their dedication of furthering the surveying profession. Vaughn has well-represented this profession with his advanced technical expertise, strong leadership and project management skills throughout his career.

Vaughn has more than 12 years of experience and is currently a survey transportation manager within R.A. Smith National’s survey division. He is also a survey data coordinator for the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. In August 2015, Vaughn was appointed to a three-year term on the Wisconsin Land Information Council to represent WSLS. The council advises the Wisconsin Department of Administration on the administration of the Wisconsin Land Information Program

Vaughn holds a bachelor’s degree in geography with a minor in environmental studies from the University of Wisconsin–Whitewater and is a professional land surveyor.

R.A. Smith National’s Mike Bach Promoted to Project Manager

BROOKFIELD, Wis. — Mike Bach of R.A. Smith National — a nationwide, multi-disciplined civil and structural engineering and surveying firm — headquartered in Brookfield, Wis., has been promoted to project manager in the land development services division.

In this role, Bach is responsible for maintaining existing national clients as well as working to expand R.A. Smith National’s presence in federal, tribal and the Southeastern Wisconsin market. Additionally, he is responsible for professional development and mentoring staff members.

Bach has more than eight years of experience as a lead project engineer and works in markets such as health care, commercial, retail and federal. He has led large multi-disciplinary A/E teams and coordinated project efforts with all team members. Bach’s project management and design experience encompass due diligence analysis and reporting, site planning and design, permitting and construction administration.

Bach holds a bachelor of science in environmental engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Platteville. He is a registered professional engineer in Wisconsin and also is a certified soil erosion inspector. He joined R.A. Smith National in June 2014.

Bach currently resides in Germantown, Wisconsin.

R.A. Smith National Names New Associates

BROOKFIELD, Wis. —R.A. Smith National — a multi-disciplined civil and structural engineering and surveying firm — headquartered in Brookfield, Wis., has named John Frydrych, Stephan Hoffmann, Chris Stamborski and Chuck Stevens as new associates.

John Frydrych is the eastern regional manager in R.A. Smith National’s Oakmont, Pa., office. Frydrych joined the firm in 2004 and has led the eastern office since that time. He has more than 24 years of broad-based civil engineering, municipal engineering and land development design experience. The markets he has served include retail, commercial, hospitality and industrial developments, as well as expert witness work associated with land development. Frydrych is a licensed professional engineer in Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Virginia and West Virginia.

Stephan Hoffmann is the director of transportation at the firm’s Brookfield, Wis., headquarters. Hoffmann joined the firm in 2006 and was named director in 2014. He has more than 22 years of project management and design experience, including rural and urban roadway reconstruction and rehabilitation, drainage analysis, utility coordination, public involvement and environmental documentation. Hoffmann is a licensed professional engineer in Wisconsin.

Chris Stamborski is the assistant director of municipal services at the firm’s Brookfield, Wis., headquarters. Stamborski joined the firm in 2000 and has been a key leader in the municipal division, assisting in its growth and the addition of new services. He has more than 15 years of experience, spending the better part of his career specializing in sanitary sewer evaluation, investigation and rehabilitation. Stamborski also has experience in urban and rural road design, stormwater management, water main and sanitary sewer facilities, and is the current engineer for the towns of Raymond and Ixonia. Stamborski is a licensed professional engineer in Wisconsin.

Chuck Stevens is the director of marketing at the firm’s Brookfield, Wis., headquarters. Stevens joined the firm in 2000 and has been instrumental in developing the firm’s corporate brand, furthering growth and new opportunities, strategic planning, as well as leading the corporate marketing and marketing communications programs. He has more than 34 years of experience in the marketing, public relations and newspaper industries. Stevens is chairman of the Wisconsin Philharmonic marketing committee and also a member of the United Way of Greater Milwaukee and Waukesha County marketing committee.
