  • Pioneering next-generation AI-based innovations in parking, accelerating the transformation from a mere vehicle storage function to an integrated, dynamic customer experience.
  • Commitment to setting new industry standards in efficient parking solutions and enhancing mobility in various locations.
  • Elevating smart city infrastructure with advanced parking solutions that seamlessly integrate into diverse urban environments.

Salzburg/Leipzig, January 9, 2024 – In a significant move towards advancing Smart Parking solutions, Kopernikus Automotive, a forward-thinking startup, has joined forces with SKIDATA, a leader in parking technology. This worldwide strategic partnership aims to harness the potential of AI and innovative technologies to transform the parking industry, catering to the needs of various operators at different locations, customers, and municipalities.

Technological synergy for advanced Parking Solutions

The collaboration brings together Kopernikus’ innovative proficiency and SKIDATA’s extensive experience in parking management. While Automated Valet Parking is among the technologies in scope, the partnership’s agreement extends to a variety of AI-based solutions. “These advancements include vehicle and object tracking, revenue optimization, misuse avoidance, space recognition, and enhanced car park surveillance, all aimed at improving the parking experience and management as well as optimizing space utilization,” explains Thomas Pühringer, Head of Solutions Portfolio Management at SKIDATA. “The same AI-based systems will optimize revenues today – and drive cars in the future”, adds Stefan Jenzowsky, CEO of Kopernikus Automotive.

Continuously increasing convenience for drivers

For end customers, this partnership promises a host of tangible benefits. “Continuously improving AI technologies ensure more automated and intuitive parking solutions,” says Thomas Pühringer. This advanced precision in automation, exemplified by improved license plate recognition, ensures a swift entry and exit process. Furthermore, the decrease in search traffic significantly cuts down on emissions, minimizes traffic congestion, and diminishes waiting times. The partnership fortifies safety and security with upcoming features like car finder information, which contribute to a more streamlined and protected parking experience.

Enhancing urban mobility and sustainability in the Smart City era

The partnership deeply enhances the customer journey and integrates with smart city infrastructure. Stefan Jenzowsky highlights the partnership’s potential: “Working with SKIDATA allows us to leverage their expertise and scale our innovative solutions. Together, we’re not just improving parking; we’re reimagining it for the smart city era.”

Sustainability is a key pillar of this partnership, with both companies dedicated to reducing emissions and optimizing space utilization in congested areas. Thomas Pühringer emphasizes this: “We’re building on our expertise in barrierless entry, license plate-based services, and efficient space utilization, improving these technologies with AI-enhanced solutions, all contributing to a seamless customer experience and a more sustainable urban environment.”

Innovating and leading the way in Smart Parking

The collaboration also involves engaging stakeholders across Europe and the USA, underscoring the partners’ role in driving the industry toward efficient and customer-friendly solutions, and setting new standards. This partnership marks a new chapter in the evolution of Smart Parking, setting the stage for a future where technology and sustainability converge to reshape urban landscapes.

Groundbreaking Connected Stadium Technology Created By SKIDATA, the World Leader in Access and Revenue Management Technology

St. Louis, MO (March 9, 2023)— When MLS’ newest team, St. Louis CITY SC, hosted its inaugural game at CITYPARK on March 4th, fans enjoyed a seamless fan experience thanks to SKIDATA’s groundbreaking Connected Stadium technology. The technology allows fans to use a single credential on their smart phones to access everything the stadium has to offer. When fans arrive at the stadium, they use their phones to access and pay for parking, enter the stadium, and even pay for concessions and souvenirs.

“The connected stadium is the future of venue management, providing complete access to an event and all the associated services with a single credential,” said Andrew Feffer, Head of Venues and Events for SKIDATA. “St. Louis CITY SC’s fans are going to enjoy the convenience and benefits provided by this technology.”

The credential connects the fan’s device to an enterprise platform that manages all elements of an event. The platform also provides rich data to stadium operations managers so they can better understand individual fan preferences and behaviors. This will allow the team to send personalized promotions, offers, and added value benefits directly to fans.

“As one of the few professional sports teams with our new stadium, offices, practice facilities, and parking structures all located within one urban setting, we chose to invest in campus-wide technologies that support a seamless and fully-connected fan experience,” said Matt Sebek, St. Louis CITY SC Chief Experience Officer. “This approach allows us to manage the entire guest journey from parking to ticketing to multi-channel commerce – while also simplifying the operational management of many roles and permissions on our campus.”

  • Single scalable solution allows owners and operators to incorporate EV charging to differentiate their locations and increase revenue
  • Integration offers drivers the convenience of charging vehicles during a parking session, paying for charging and parking in one transaction

Los Angeles, CA (December 1, 2021)– SKIDATA, the world leader in parking access and revenue management, and Schneider Electric, the global leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, today announced a partnership to provide a seamless EV charging solution for parking managers and their customers as electric vehicle (EV) adoption becomes more widespread. Through this partnership, which includes Schneider Electric’s extensive network of partners, parking owners and operators will have access to a single-source integrated EV solution that will include EV charging equipment and infrastructure, as well as a payment platform that allows drivers to pay for charging as part of their parking transaction.

“The automobile’s electric future is just around the corner, and parking facilities will play the leading role in providing charging and in the long term future we see, in terms of Parking Structures, that they become a critical part of the whole USA transportation and energy delivery systems through initiatives like Microgrids / Solar and Vehicle to Grid technologies” said Darrell Smithson, President NAM for SKIDATA. “Through this partnership we’ll be able to provide parking owners and operators a one-stop EV solution that will allow them to offer their customers seamless charging and payment. It will make EV charging incredibly simple and convenient.”

“Widespread electrification of transportation is elemental to decarbonizing, and as the most sustainable company in the world,  we are proud to partner with leaders like SKIDATA helping us to transform into a new electric world. Establishing new innovative business models in the parking industry will further enable electrification and ease friction in user experience ,” said Ashley Horvat, VP Head of eMobility, North America, Schneider Electric. “As parking owners and operators look to embrace EV charging, our solutions will allow them to meet the changing needs of their customers, and provides a competitive advantage that elevates their locations above their competition with this simple “Park, Plug, & Pay” package.

Los Angeles, CA (April 29, 2021) – SKIDATA, the world leader in parking access and revenue management, today announced a new technology integration partnership with Openpath, a leader in touchless, modern access control, and workplace safety automation. Through this partnership, Openpath’s groundbreaking touchless and mobile access control technology will be integrated into SKIDATA’s parking access and revenue control equipment to permit drivers to enter and exit SKIDATA-equipped parking facilities, using their Openpath credentials.

“We are excited to be partnering with Openpath,” said Darrell Smithson, President, North America of SKIDATA. “SKIDATA already makes the world’s most reliable and user-friendly parking equipment. “SKIDATA has always led the way when it comes to introducing new technological capabilities to the parking industry,” continued Smithson. “This partnership will help ensure that SKIDATA will continue to lead the way in providing smart city infrastructure.”

The addition of Openpath’s technology, which provides touchless and mobile access via Bluetooth, Wi-fi, and LTE, to SKIDATA equipment will permit drivers to access SKIDATA-equipped parking facilities with their smartphones and other personal devices, as well as via license plate recognition (LPR), allowing drivers to enter and exit parking garages quickly and conveniently without having to stop and swipe a card or reach out of their vehicle to validate parking access. When drivers approach the parking facility, they can gain access via the SKIDATA app on their personal devices. Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and LTE access are most useful for managing permit parking, and the technology is perfect for parking owners and organizations who offer permit parking, including residential facilities, office complexes, universities, hospitals, airports, special events parking, and stand-alone parking garages.

“With this integration, we are excited to further demonstrate how Openpath’s seamless user experience extends beyond just the four walls of a building.  Providing safety and simplicity for users throughout their day; from the moment their vehicle enters the parking garage, to the doors, elevators, and turnstiles they use in repetition. Openpath’s technology enables a completely touchless experience for tenants and guests and eliminates the need for users to juggle multiple apps or credentials to get where they are going. Our mission is always to deliver end-to-end security while reducing friction, and this integration is another great example of that,” said James Segil, President and Co-Founder of Openpath.

Tampa – SKIDATA, the world leader in parking access and revenue management, has been selected to create frictionless parking suites for three parking garages owned by Strategic Property Partners (SPP) in Water Street Tampa, a new mixed-use development in downtown Tampa. The SPP-owned garages provide parking to residents, employees, and patrons of the Water Street Tampa neighborhood, as well as fans attending events at nearby Amalie Arena.

“We are excited to be partnering with Strategic Property Partners to create this state-of-the-art parking revenue technology for their Water Street Tampa garages,” said Blair Taylor, Vice president of Business Development for SKIDATA’s Southeast region. “This technology will provide a much more user-friendly parking experience for visitors to Tampa’s thriving downtown and waterfront.”

The SKIDATA parking technology suite will manage 2,168 parking spaces in three garages throughout Water Street Tampa, located at 1045 Cumberland Avenue, 815 Water Street and 1050 Water Street. The garages will feature automated access control gates and LPR cameras in all 10 lanes, while two pay-on-foot machines will provide payment options for transient parkers.

Encompassing 56 acres, Water Street Tampa is bringing over nine million square feet of residential, hospitality, office, retail, cultural and educational space to downtown Tampa. The new neighborhood includes downtown Tampa’s first Class-A office building in more than 25 years; Tampa’s first JW Marriott and first five-star hotel, The Tampa EDITION; over 1,300 new rental apartment homes in four distinct buildings; The Residences at The Tampa EDITION, the city’s first hotel-branded condominiums, where sales are currently underway; the University of South Florida’s Morsani College of Medicine and Heart Institute; and Sparkman Wharf, a new waterfront recreation, retail and dining destination. As the first WELL-certified community, as designated by the International Well Building Institute, Water Street Tampa is built around walkability and sustainability and creates a new model for wellness-based design in the built environment.

SKIDATA turns “access” into a warm welcome

David Luken, the CEO of SKIDATA, discusses the repositioning of the Austrian based company and the advantages the company’s new purpose provides their customers

Salzburg, February 1st, 2021: In order to place even more focus on the needs and requirements of end customers, and stay true to SKIDATA’s core value of exceeding their customer needs, SKIDATA has recently defined a new purpose: “We change the World of welcoming people”. This serves as a promise to turn access into a warm welcome while fulfilling end customers’ essential need for convenience and safety in all situations. With the worldwide launch of the brand campaign in January 2021, SKIDATA will strengthen its position as the no. 1 access control partner and advisor for operators of parking facilities, mountain destinations, amusement parks and stadia.

Mr. Luken, why has SKIDATA launched the new brand campaign now?

David Luken: SKIDATA is at the forefront of driving innovation in its core customer segments. We recognize that the world is changing rapidly, accelerated in many ways due to Covid-19, and therefore our customers’ needs are changing. As the global leader in access and revenue management solutions, we aim to stay at the forefront of this change. Since it is key for our customers, our organization and employees to all have a common understanding of purpose, we asked ourselves the question: Why are we doing this? The answer we came up with is, ‘We change the world of welcoming people’. This perfectly encompasses both our longstanding commitment to innovation while emphasizing our increased focus on the end-customer experience. A friendly welcome is the first step to a successful customer journey. For example, the perfect ski day starts without waiting in line because you already booked your ski pass on the go allowing you to head straight to the lift with your ski pass on your phone. We strive to achieve these perfect ‘welcomes’ by partnering with our customers to assure skiers, fans, families and parkers have a fantastic start to their experience. To live up to this promise SKIDATA is becoming a more agile, globally connected organization giving us the ability to adapt to dynamic market environments.

What is the meaning of “We change the world of welcoming people”?

David Luken: Our company purpose summarizes SKIDATA’s DNA and represents the reason why the company and we, as the SKIDATA family, exist: We are more than a technology company, we strive to understand the needs of customers’ customer – and we satisfy these needs with an agile approach. For us the meaning of ‘we’ is important. ‘We’ does not mean SKIDATA alone. ‘We’ means the combined effort of our customers, our strategic partners and SKIDATA as an organization – working together – to transform access’ into a ‘warm welcome’. It is this collective effort which truly improves end-customer value. As the world’s leading provider of access and revenue management solutions, we serve nearly 100 countries working towards our local customer’s goals. This presence enables us to reinforce our customers’ trust by providing world-class on-site service. With our consultative approach and our leading cloud-based infrastructure, we are changing the way innovative solutions are delivered to our customers. We are customer-focused and human-centered advisors offering our customers complete solutions in co- operation with best of breed partners through a comprehensive range of interfaces and integrations.

How do your business customers – the operators of parking facilities, mountain destinations, amusement parks or stadia – benefit from your new purpose?

David Luken: What is the best way to say “welcome”? Over the past few years, demand for web-based, safe access in parking facilities, skiing destinations and event venues has increased – and Covid-19 has accelerated this trend. SKIDATA provides solutions for future customer requirements derived from relevant industry trends such as transition to the cloud, sustainability and increased security. By offering turnkey, integrated solutions for our customers, we establish a seamless experience to welcome end users to the respective facility. By welcoming every user, we help increase recurring visits and grow business for operators which is how we ultimately deliver true value in the eyes of our customers.

How do the end customers benefit from your solutions?

David Luken: The end customer’s behavior is the intrinsic driver of our innovations. That’s why we literally take the driver’s seat: What is important for the end customers? What is convenient for them? Everybody wants to feel welcome. Everybody wants transactions to be convenient. And everybody wants to feel safe. Our solutions exactly fulfill these needs. From purchasing your ticket online, to getting seamless access into a venue, to having the possibility to recharge one’s EV during a city tour, to using a smartphone to pay for your parking; all these contribute to convenience and feeling welcome and safe.

How does SKIDATA manage the transformation to the purpose “We change the world of welcoming people”?

David Luken: There are multiple examples where we’ve already innovated with the end customers in mind. From creating the first hands-free access for skiing resorts more than 40 years ago to touch free parking experiences and the world’s first NFC-ticket access to stadiums. So, in many ways we’ve been living this purpose for as long as we’ve been around. Going forward we’ll continue to transform our processes so that we’re better positioned to further improve the way people are welcomed. We already have a variety of new ways to enhance the entry experience in the pipeline. For example, we’re revolutionizing the ski-experience with the world’s first mobile access solution which allows skiers purchase their lift ticket and access the ski resort using just their smartphone.

SKIDATA manages complex projects throughout the world, aiming to increase our end-customers’ convenience and safety and optimize operators’ revenues. We work on a global and broad scope, but the motivation and collective mindset of all colleagues at SKIDATA is to change the world of welcoming people – every day.

Come and see how we change the world of welcoming people
