Colorado School of Mines Elevates Parking Experience with TKH Security’s State-of-the-Art Automated Parking Guidance System

Cheshire, CT  – TKH Security (formerly Park Assist), a leading technology provider in camera-based Automated Parking Guidance Systems (APGS), is pleased to announce the prestigious Colorado School of Mines has chosen our cutting-edge parking solutions to enhance the overall parking experience on their campus in C+PKll garage with 871 parking spaces.

At the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the Colorado School of Mines (Mines) is located in Golden, Colorado. Recently celebrating its Fall 2023 Undergraduate Commencement, Mines is a public research university focused on applied science and engineering. Mines once again ranked among the nation’s top universities in U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 edition of Best Colleges, ranking #36 in Top Public Schools nationwide and first in Colorado.

“As we see available land shrinking on college campuses across North America, the need for parking guidance to maximize overall availability is becoming essential,” said Jeff Sparrow, Director of Sales, North America. “Our technology not only maximizes parking efficiency but also offers enhanced security features, creating a safer environment. To the benefit of students, faculty, and staff, campus security will be able to better monitor each parking space.”

The camera-based M5 smart-sensor is the core of our automated parking guidance system (APGS). With two CMOS digital cameras on either side, the M5 smart-sensors are installed above the driving lane to monitor up to six parking spaces each, up to three on each side. Exhibiting a 99%+ accuracy rate, the M5 has a full spectrum RGB (LED) indicator that can be configured to display thousands of colors to indicate occupancy and parking space type. Most commonly, green indicates available, blue indicates handicapped, purple indicates EV, while red indicates occupied. Reducing time to park by up to 63%, the system not only facilities a smoother traffic flow inside the parking garage but it also reduces congestion in the surrounding areas.

Their automated parking guidance system (APGS) package also includes:

  • Camera-based C5 Smart Counting Solution to be placed at key points to accurately detect and count bidirectional traffic, sending the data to both VMS signs and INX,
  • With maximum messaging flexibility, VMS signage will treat parkers with to up to the moment guidance at key decision points, guiding them to available parking quickly,
  • Park Alerts will send proactive notifications for the arrival of important or banned persons, if someone overstays their limited-time space, or if someone parks in a restricted space,
  • Park Surveillance will deliver comprehensive monitoring of each parking space, in and between spaces, by capturing HD streaming video when motion is detected or continuously, allowing security to be on the lookout for suspicious activity in a more efficient way than ever before,
  • And the INX integration will provide Mines with real-time and historical, actionable data including: occupancy, dwell time, turnover, heatmaps, frequency, trends, comparative analytics, environmental conditions, and more.

“Mines selected us based on our leadership in camera-based APGS and our extensive experience in successful parking guidance installations. With installation beginning in Q1 2024, I look forward to working closely with Mines on this project,” said Sparrow.

Lauren Burdick joins executive team as Nuvocargo continues ramping up new hires to support rapid growth

NEW YORK, Jan. 18, 2022  — Nuvocargo, the only all-in-one digital platform for US/Mexico trade, announced today that Lauren Burdick has joined the company as Head of People.

In this new role at Nuvocargo, Burdick will leverage her 10+ years experience leading operational teams and projects in the US and in Mexico to manage the company’s employee experience and ensure that it is closely aligned with its vision, mission and values. She will define and execute the strategy behind Nuvocargo’s employee value proposition and compensation philosophy and ensure process excellence in talent acquisition, people operations, and learning and development.

Burdick joins Nuvocargo from the $8.7B LatAm startup Kavak, where she led the Central Mexico region as General Manager and later the company’s Latin America customer service teams. Prior to that, Burdick was with Uber, where she helped scale the Uber Mexico customer service team to 500 and also served as Chief of Staff and Head of Corporate Strategy for Uber Eats LatAm. Burdick was a US-Mexico Fulbright binational business scholar and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Comparative Race Studies from the University of Chicago.

“Lauren is a fantastic addition to our executive team – her unique background and extensive operational and logistical experience will be crucial as we scale the company rapidly in 2022 and beyond,” said Deepak Chhugani, Co-founder and CEO of Nuvocargo. “Her experience with world-class startups such as Uber and Kavak will be invaluable as we grow our team from 80 to 250+ people in the coming 12-18 months.”

“I joined Nuvocargo because of the co-founders’ strong vision to create a high performing binational team at a very exciting time in the logistics industry,” said Burdick. “In order to be successful, we need to foster a unique culture that brings in talent from logistics alongside tech and others from Mexico and across the US. These two markets are near and dear to my heart as my homeland by birth and my new home by choice. Bringing the vision requires world-class technology and world-class people. I look forward to being one of the architects making Nuvocargo’s vision a reality.”
Nuvocargo recently raised $20.5M, led by Tiger Global Management, at a $180M valuation – nearly tripling the valuation from its most recent fundraise in April 2021. This additional funding brings Nuvocargo’s total raised to date to $37.8M since its launch in late 2019. Nuvocargo will use the funds to continue accelerating growth, expanding its product solutions in the industry, and strengthening its existing carrier and shipper network on both sides of the border. It is also developing new revenue streams, starting with add-on financial products for shippers and carriers, targeting the $125B+ market for supply chain finance between the US and Mexico.

Quercus Technologies: Deep Roots, New Leaves

May 14, 2019

Quercus Technologies: Deep Roots, New Leaves

Just some weeks ago Quercus Technologies is celebrating its 20 years anniversary and takes stock on the situation of the company, its trajectory and perspectives for the future. Quercus began developing engineering projects for the industrial sector, in particular in relation to industrial automatization and quality control by means of artificial vision. Today, Quercus has become an international company, specialized in manufacturing LPR equipment in the parking guidance sector and has projects in more than 70 countries.

Quercus has become an international benchmark in its field: it is a model of success history, of a company that prevails thanks to the vision of its leaders, the effort of the staff and the struggle for innovation. Far from having arrived at the end of the way, Quercus is expanding:

How keep on growing at the present time as we have done until now?

How keep on growing, adapting to changes, without adulterating the essence that has allowed the company to get to be what it is today?

The company has experienced a period of transition in order to be able to answer these questions, for, briefly, continuing being faithful to its mission without going stale using a formula that worked well in the past. As a result of that process of reflection and adaptation, Quercus has created Mobility Division in order to harness the solution of parking guidance based on the sensor by camera in the market. This division commercializes exclusively guidance and mobility projects through a different sales channel than the one used habitually by Quercus for its OEM products. For the commercialization of those, Quercus has created Detection Division.

Detection Division is direct result of more than twenty years of experience in License Plate Recognition, continuing a business model that has turned Quercus into the company it is now: focusing in the making and commercializing of the most advanced and reliable OEM products that the client needs, while keeping a practical and efficient approach through the regular sales channel. A way of remaining faithful to the roots and the origin of the company.

Mobility Division reflects the need of broadening horizons in order boost in the market parking guidance solution based on camera sensors. Using the experience and know-how of Quercus Technologies, Mobility Division commercializes comprehensive and customized projects of parking guidance and mobility systems. They are the new leaves, Quercus’ stake in the future.

Quercus stays strong, facing the challenges without fear and with new proposals and parking guidance solutions. Quercus would like to sum up this new phase in a sentence that refers as much to the name as to the history of the company: “New leaves grow because we stand on our Roots” remembering to us that for new projects to develop it is necessary to always remember the origins.
