SP+ Brings Technology-Based Parking Payment Options to City of New Orleans

NEW ORLEANS, Dec. 07, 2022 — SP Plus Corporation (SP+), (Nasdaq: SP), a leading provider of technology-driven mobility solutions for aviation, commercial, hospitality and institutional clients throughout North America and Europe, has upgraded the on-street metered parking program in New Orleans to include pay-by-text and pay-by-plate options.

SP+ is the parking service provider for the City of New Orleans and uses its industry-leading Sphere® suite of technologies, specifically designed to streamline high-traffic parking programs and create a seamless experience for parking customers.

For the City of New Orleans, SP+ introduced its technology-based, paperless payment options to simplify the City’s on-street parking process by eliminating the need for parkers to print and display the proof-of-payment on their dashboard, thus also eliminating the issue of misplaced receipts.

Parking customers can use the text-to-pay option or download Parking.com and other popular parking apps to process their payment.

A pay-by-plate option launched simultaneously. Parkers simply enter their license plate number to purchase parking at the pay station and the enforcement system automatically recognizes the valid parking session.

“These upgrades to the on-street metered parking program are state-of-the-art and offered as a convenience for the residents, stakeholders and visitors to the City of New Orleans,” said Bob Kamper, Vice President of Municipal Services at SP+.

SAN DIEGO, CA – Endera, a technology company specializing in all-electric commercial vehicles, charging infrastructure and software solutions, announced its commitment to supply SP+ with 8 fully electric shuttle buses at the San Diego International Airport to replace an older LPG fleet.

“The clean transportation revolution is occurring in San Diego with Endera’s second-ever 100% fleet swap at the San Diego International Airport and the first for an off-airport client. This fleet swap will provide four 25kW chargers and four 50kW chargers along with customized shuttles. Endera will also be supplying SP+ with Endera Go and Endera Transit platforms for full access to ridership data, fleet performance, and reporting through the customer dashboard,” said John Walsh, Endera’s Chief Executive Officer.

Endera’s fully electric customized shuttles supplied to SP+ at the San Diego International Airport

“I am convinced electric vehicles are the way to go. Our employees will not be spending time at the gas station. After successfully testing the shuttle buses, the switch is a no-brainer,” said Richard Abdala, facility manager of Aladdin parking garage. “Endera provided the shuttles that worked for us. They’ve got a good product, they are road tested, and we are super excited to put Endera’s buses on the road.”

SP+ is a technology driven mobility solutions company that sought a superior electrification partner to fit their needs in San Diego. Endera customized the shuttles to ensure a perfect fit into the Aladdin parking facility which has stringent height restrictions for its access gates. To accommodate these height restrictions, Endera commissioned a custom HVAC system to develop the exact shuttles needed. Endera partnered with SP+ throughout the entire vehicle specification process, from the design to the financing of their fleet.

“Having zero-emission shuttle buses picking up and dropping off customers at the airport will bring us one step closer to cleaner air and ultimately a healthier community. In addition to the custom built EV vehicles, Endera will be providing 24/7 connectivity, telematics and fleet management offerings that will help Aladdin know how the vehicles are performing, where they are located, and when they will next need a charge,” added Walsh.

By partnering with Endera, SP+ is forecasts savings on maintenance costs and a 60% reduction on fuel costs. SP+ will benefit from better service to their fleets with minimal downtime. The customized fleet along with ridership data and fleet performance will aid SP+ in continuing to uphold their goals by enhancing the consumer experience with superior electrification solutions. CivicSmart Supports Multiple Parking Payment Apps for the City of Atlanta and ATL Plus

January 12, 2020

CivicSmart Supports Multiple Parking Payment Apps for the City of Atlanta and ATL Plus

MILWAUKEE, WI.  – Duncan Parking Technologies, Inc., a subsidiary of CivicSmart, Inc., (“CivicSmart”) is pleased to announce the enhancement of its AutoISSUE handheld enforcement software to support the City of Atlanta’s acceptance of multiple parking payment apps for on-street parking.

The City of Atlanta recently joined a small but growing number of progressive cities that recognize the desirability of allowing motorists to pay for on-street parking using the app of their choice.

In addition to the City’s long-time acceptance of ParkMobile, the City and its operator, ATL Plus, continue to build on the success and innovation of the City’s “Smart Parking” program by expanding to accept payments from the PayByPhone and Passport apps.

To seamlessly accept these payments, parking enforcement officers need to see real-time payment information in their enforcement handheld software.  For years, CivicSmart’s AutoISSUE software has incorporated payments from Atlanta’s Flowbird paystations and the ParkMobile app.  The most recent release of AutoISSUE software for the City adds payments from PayByPhone and Passport, with work underway to integrate SpotAngels mobile payments in the first quarter of 2020.

The AutoISSUE handheld devices contain a License Plate Recognition engine that instantly checks the paid status of each plate across any payment platform.  If a plate is not paid, the officer can efficiently and accurately issue a citation by pre-populating most of the data.  Prior to finalizing the citation, the handheld software performs a final, “last second check” to prevent an incorrect citation from being issued if a payment was just made.  Officer location and vehicle images are also captured to further document citation details.

The City’s and ATL Plus’ parking system is designed with the highest standards to ensure that every citation that is issued is valid.

In addition to integrating with multiple payment systems, the AutoISSUE software integrates with ATL Plus vehicles equipped with Mobile LPR systems so vehicles that overstay, don’t pay or don’t have permits can be automatically flagged on the officers’ handheld software.  This prevents MLPR vehicles from having to stop to issue citations themselves which can cause double-parking, congestion, and vehicle and pedestrian safety risks.

The AutoISSUE software is also integrated with GE’s CityIQ intelligent streetlights which are being piloted in the City and can show officers images of vehicles that block fire hydrants, crosswalks or create other safety hazards.

About CivicSmart

CivicSmart is a leader in citywide, on-street parking solutions with an 83-year track record providing enforcement, sensors, smart meters, housings and software products for over a million parking spaces.  Based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, CivicSmart’s patented “Smart Parking” solutions have been deployed globally on five continents and serve over 1,500 clients.  More information about CivicSmart is available at CivicSmart.com.
