At the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the Colorado School of Mines (Mines) is located in Golden, Colorado. Recently celebrating its Fall 2023 Undergraduate Commencement, Mines is a public research university focused on applied science and engineering. Mines once again ranked among the nation’s top universities in U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 edition of Best Colleges, ranking #36 in Top Public Schools nationwide and first in Colorado.

The camera-based M5 smart-sensor is the core of our automated parking guidance system (APGS). With two CMOS digital cameras on either side, the M5 smart-sensors are installed above the driving lane to monitor up to six parking spaces each, up to three on each side. Exhibiting a 99%+ accuracy rate, the M5 has a full spectrum RGB (LED) indicator that can be configured to display thousands of colors to indicate occupancy and parking space type. Most commonly, green indicates available, blue indicates handicapped, purple indicates EV, while red indicates occupied. Reducing time to park by up to 63%, the system not only facilities a smoother traffic flow inside the parking garage but it also reduces congestion in the surrounding areas.

Their automated parking guidance system (APGS) package also includes:

  • Camera-based C5 Smart Counting Solution to be placed at key points to accurately detect and count bidirectional traffic, sending the data to both VMS signs and INX,
  • With maximum messaging flexibility, VMS signage will treat parkers with to up to the moment guidance at key decision points, guiding them to available parking quickly,
  • Park Alerts will send proactive notifications for the arrival of important or banned persons, if someone overstays their limited-time space, or if someone parks in a restricted space,
  • Park Surveillance will deliver comprehensive monitoring of each parking space, in and between spaces, by capturing HD streaming video when motion is detected or continuously, allowing security to be on the lookout for suspicious activity in a more efficient way than ever before,
  • And the INX integration will provide Mines with real-time and historical, actionable data including: occupancy, dwell time, turnover, heatmaps, frequency, trends, comparative analytics, environmental conditions, and more.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J.  — Conduent Incorporated (Nasdaq: CNDT), a global technology-led business solutions and services company, announced a definitive agreement to sell its Curbside Management Solutions and Public Safety Solutions businesses to Modaxo , a division of Constellation Software Inc. (TSX: CSU). Modaxo is a global portfolio company focused on advancing people transportation solutions.

The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter of 2024. The closing is subject to the satisfaction of customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.

“This divestiture demonstrates continued progress in streamlining our portfolio to drive increased focus on our core capabilities and enable synergistic growth to create shareholder and client value,” said Cliff Skelton, Conduent President and CEO. “The proceeds from this transaction and that of our previously announced BenefitWallet transaction , will be used principally to reduce debt. The two businesses, which support approximately 130 government clients across the globe, operate largely independent from the rest of Conduent’s transportation portfolio. Curbside management provides parking enforcement systems and public safety provides automated photo enforcement processing, both for state and local municipalities.

Genetec announces new version of Security Center



Company shifts to continuous software delivery model; new version brings map enhancement features, authentication improvements and new automation features.




MONTRÉAL, December 5, 2023Genetec Inc. (“Genetec”), a leading technology provider of unified security, public safety, operations, and business intelligence solutions, today announced a new version of its flagship unified security platform, Security Center. With a shift toward a continuous delivery approach, this version marks a new era in the way customers can stay up to date with the platform’s latest features and updates.

The latest release of Security Center also brings many new features, including:

Map enhancements

The latest version of Security Center brings new mapping enhancements, including a new map widget for dashboards and improved zoom behavior, providing a smoother experience for operators, particularly in large city-wide or multi-site deployments.

With the new map widgets, operators can create mini-monitoring tasks in their dashboards. They can pull cameras (or other entities) from the maps into empty tiles to view video, and easily search for entities they are interested in. The enhanced zoom feature now displays or hides layers depending on how much you zoom in or out. This helps operators see only what’s important at their current zoom level, preventing clutter. For instance, when zoomed out, doors and intrusion zones can be hidden, allowing operators to concentrate on cameras and ALPR units from a bird’s eye view. The hidden features will reappear as operators zoom in to the individual building level.

Authentication improvements

Security Center has also added new configuration enhancements for authentication services. These improvements include a new configuration wizard that walks users through the set-up process, a troubleshooting window to help detect and diagnose problems, and a testing window to check that everything is working properly before deploying it into production.

These enhancements help simplify an otherwise complicated system configuration, and reduce some of the uncertainty in the process so systems integrators can get the system up and running more quickly.

Reaching new levels of efficiency

As part of its continuous delivery model, the latest version of Security Center lays the groundwork for ambitious new platform features that will significantly simplify system configuration, management, and auditing.  This will benefit customers looking to lighten the load of day-to-day activities just as much as those managing large, complex facilities. To be introduced throughout 2024, these new features will enable advanced workflow activities, allowing operators to concentrate on tasks that need their attention.
