More About The Whit’s Neighborhood

  • Across New York Street from The Whit, University Park is popular for sunshine, dog walking, and squirrel watching. The space was set aside in 1821 for a state university, although the plan was never developed. However, it was later the site of a seminary, churches, and the city’s first high school. The area now features several sculptures in a beautifully landscaped setting.
  • The neighborhood was once home to the Indianapolis Star and is known as Pulliam Square because the newspaper was owned by the Pulliam family for more than 50 years before it was sold in 2000.
  • The iconic Soldiers & Sailors Monument, a beloved Indianapolis landmark, is just a stone’s throw away from The Whit. Grab a coffee, park at The Whit, and take a stroll around this historic gem.

Our team is fueled by energy and integrity, based on long-standing family ownership to create a culture where everyone is treated like family. From employees to customers and clients, we give everyone the same respect and care we show each other, ensuring a truly personalized experience.

Quercus Technologies: Artificial Intelligence takes control of the new SmartLPR – QAI Inside!

February 08, 2024

Artificial Intelligence takes control of the new SmartLPR: QAI Inside!

The best LPR ever created New%20version%2C%20new%20name_SmartLPR

Quercus Technologies, a forerunner in All-In-One license plate recognition cameras, is proud to announce the launch of its latest innovation, the new version of the SmartLPR system. This advanced license plate recognition system redefines industry standards, introducing novel key features that will mark a new era in vehicle recognition, while maintaining the essential characteristics for which Quercus was the first to market.

With the latest version, we’ve not only made significant improvements to the product, we’ve also changed the name of our cameras, from SmartLPR Access to SmartLPR. The change comes as a result of our decision to go back to the roots of Quercus, consolidating our identity and highlighting the constant evolution of our LPR technology. This new name also represents our determination to lead in the field of artificial intelligence applied to license plate recognition systems.

QAI_greyQuercus is consolidating its role as a forerunner by incorporating its internally-developed Artificial Intelligence technology into the core of its products: QAI Inside! The main innovation is based on the use of artificial intelligence algorithms to detect and recognize license plates (OCR).

With the latest evolution of our technology and integration of artificial intelligence, we’ve also made major improvements to the Free-flow operation mode. These optimizations are taking the camera’s reliability rate to new levels, truly enabling ticketless and barrierless systems to work perfectly. In fact, we now quantify faults in terms of incorrect license numbers per thousand read, instead of one hundred, as had been the practice until now. The combination of advanced license plate recognition capacity and the power of our artificial intelligence has boosted the accuracy and reliability of our system, contributing to more efficient all-around parking management.

SmartLPR_ai

Our system now has the capacity to simultaneously read plates from an unlimited number of countries, doing away with the need to previously specify which ones it should be able to read. This advancement is a landmark, as it makes the system more flexible, and expedites its configuration.

The main goal has always been the same, simplify the experience for operators and enhance that of users. At the heart of this mission is a solid foundation of internal research and development. Our highly specialized team doesn’t just follow technological evolution: they drive it. Constant research, exploration of new frontiers, and the improvement of existing solutions are essential ingredients that define our commitment to ongoing development.

IMAGE QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

Another major advancement is the taking of better-quality images, with higher levels of definition and sharpness. Compared to prior versions, images are now seen with exceptional clarity and a more attractive overall look for operators’ visual perception. Enhanced quality and brightness play a crucial role in creating more vivid, user-friendly images.

QUERCUS FIRST

Throughout the years, we have been pioneers when it comes to launching different solutions that set the pace for the industry, a sign of our undying dedication to innovating. Quercus First (QF) reflects our ongoing commitment to leading with a visionary, even revolutionary, approach.

  • Worldwide Use: With recognition in over 200 countries, this advanced license plate recognition camera redefines geographic limits. With the same model, the Smart LPR enables successful implementation in a wide range of settings and conditions, ensuring efficient, accurate responses at the international level.
  • Wide Angle Recognition: Optimal license plate recognition at hard-to-read angles.
  • Dual Lamp – Color and IR reading inside the unit. The camera ensures exceptional performance even in dim conditions, for any type of license plate (reflective and non-reflective, in color or black and white).
  • Motorized Lens: The motorized lens provides exceptional agility and unbeatable accuracy, ensuring optimal image capture in diverse conditions.
  • HRR: The SmartLPR cameras can integrate two license plate recognition units per lane, for double license plate reading. This system, based on an artificial vision algorithm, is called HRR, (High Reliability Recognition). It is a parking system that combines all the characters and digits of the front as well as the rear license plates, enabling complete recognition of the license plate number.
  • IP67: The IP67 Certification guarantees optimal performance, even in challenging weather conditions, or in cases of high levels of dust generated inside the parking facility itself. This ensures the integrity of the system and fault-free operation.

With the SmartLPR License Plate Reader, Quercus Technologies reasserts its position as a leader at the cutting edge of technology, getting the most from the power of AI to offer new license plate recognition solutions. The new era in parking technology marks another example of Quercus’ ongoing responsibility toward constant improvement and meeting the changing needs of its customers around the world.

Colorado School of Mines Elevates Parking Experience with TKH Security’s State-of-the-Art Automated Parking Guidance System

January 04, 2024

Colorado School of Mines Elevates Parking Experience with TKH Security’s State-of-the-Art Automated Parking Guidance System

Cheshire, CT  – TKH Security (formerly Park Assist), a leading technology provider in camera-based Automated Parking Guidance Systems (APGS), is pleased to announce the prestigious Colorado School of Mines has chosen our cutting-edge parking solutions to enhance the overall parking experience on their campus in C+PKll garage with 871 parking spaces.

At the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the Colorado School of Mines (Mines) is located in Golden, Colorado. Recently celebrating its Fall 2023 Undergraduate Commencement, Mines is a public research university focused on applied science and engineering. Mines once again ranked among the nation’s top universities in U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 edition of Best Colleges, ranking #36 in Top Public Schools nationwide and first in Colorado.

“As we see available land shrinking on college campuses across North America, the need for parking guidance to maximize overall availability is becoming essential,” said Jeff Sparrow, Director of Sales, North America. “Our technology not only maximizes parking efficiency but also offers enhanced security features, creating a safer environment. To the benefit of students, faculty, and staff, campus security will be able to better monitor each parking space.”

The camera-based M5 smart-sensor is the core of our automated parking guidance system (APGS). With two CMOS digital cameras on either side, the M5 smart-sensors are installed above the driving lane to monitor up to six parking spaces each, up to three on each side. Exhibiting a 99%+ accuracy rate, the M5 has a full spectrum RGB (LED) indicator that can be configured to display thousands of colors to indicate occupancy and parking space type. Most commonly, green indicates available, blue indicates handicapped, purple indicates EV, while red indicates occupied. Reducing time to park by up to 63%, the system not only facilities a smoother traffic flow inside the parking garage but it also reduces congestion in the surrounding areas.

Their automated parking guidance system (APGS) package also includes:

  • Camera-based C5 Smart Counting Solution to be placed at key points to accurately detect and count bidirectional traffic, sending the data to both VMS signs and INX,
  • With maximum messaging flexibility, VMS signage will treat parkers with to up to the moment guidance at key decision points, guiding them to available parking quickly,
  • Park Alerts will send proactive notifications for the arrival of important or banned persons, if someone overstays their limited-time space, or if someone parks in a restricted space,
  • Park Surveillance will deliver comprehensive monitoring of each parking space, in and between spaces, by capturing HD streaming video when motion is detected or continuously, allowing security to be on the lookout for suspicious activity in a more efficient way than ever before,
  • And the INX integration will provide Mines with real-time and historical, actionable data including: occupancy, dwell time, turnover, heatmaps, frequency, trends, comparative analytics, environmental conditions, and more.

“Mines selected us based on our leadership in camera-based APGS and our extensive experience in successful parking guidance installations. With installation beginning in Q1 2024, I look forward to working closely with Mines on this project,” said Sparrow.

Genetec announces new version of Security Center

December 06, 2023

Genetec announces new version of Security Center

Company shifts to continuous software delivery model; new version brings map enhancement features, authentication improvements and new automation features.

MONTRÉAL, December 5, 2023Genetec Inc. (“Genetec”), a leading technology provider of unified security, public safety, operations, and business intelligence solutions, today announced a new version of its flagship unified security platform, Security Center. With a shift toward a continuous delivery approach, this version marks a new era in the way customers can stay up to date with the platform’s latest features and updates.

“The fast-changing security landscape is driving a requirement for rapid innovation. By adopting a continuous delivery model, we are able to deliver new features and security updates more consistently with less disruption to customers, while maintaining the ambitious scale of our innovation strategy,” explains Christian Morin, Vice President of Product Engineering and Chief Security Officer at Genetec Inc.

The latest release of Security Center also brings many new features, including:

Map enhancements

The latest version of Security Center brings new mapping enhancements, including a new map widget for dashboards and improved zoom behavior, providing a smoother experience for operators, particularly in large city-wide or multi-site deployments.

With the new map widgets, operators can create mini-monitoring tasks in their dashboards. They can pull cameras (or other entities) from the maps into empty tiles to view video, and easily search for entities they are interested in. The enhanced zoom feature now displays or hides layers depending on how much you zoom in or out. This helps operators see only what’s important at their current zoom level, preventing clutter. For instance, when zoomed out, doors and intrusion zones can be hidden, allowing operators to concentrate on cameras and ALPR units from a bird’s eye view. The hidden features will reappear as operators zoom in to the individual building level.

Authentication improvements

Security Center has also added new configuration enhancements for authentication services. These improvements include a new configuration wizard that walks users through the set-up process, a troubleshooting window to help detect and diagnose problems, and a testing window to check that everything is working properly before deploying it into production.

These enhancements help simplify an otherwise complicated system configuration, and reduce some of the uncertainty in the process so systems integrators can get the system up and running more quickly.

Reaching new levels of efficiency

As part of its continuous delivery model, the latest version of Security Center lays the groundwork for ambitious new platform features that will significantly simplify system configuration, management, and auditing.  This will benefit customers looking to lighten the load of day-to-day activities just as much as those managing large, complex facilities. To be introduced throughout 2024, these new features will enable advanced workflow activities, allowing operators to concentrate on tasks that need their attention.
