Bomel Construction Co – Eight-Level Parking Structure Completed for Landmark Office Building in Orange County, California

Eight-Level Parking Structure Completed for Landmark Office Building in Orange County, California

Jan. 3, 2018––You won’t see a lifeguard stand or colorful beach umbrellas near this boardwalk. And a steady stream of bike riders will not be whizzing by on a bright sunny day.

The recently completed Boardwalk in Irvine, Calif., may not be surfside but it does represent the largest new office building to be constructed in Orange County in 2017, according to Colliers International, a global real estate company. And with a spacious, landscaped courtyard featuring cushioned lounge chairs, plank walkways and cabana-style meeting areas, working at The Boardwalk might just be a beach after all.

The 7.5-acre campus, at the intersection of Jamboree Road and Dupont Drive, consists of two nine-story structures forming a “T,” linked by outdoor and indoor walkways. It encompasses 540,000 square feet of office space and 5,000 square feet of space designated for restaurant and retail. The general contractor for the Class A office building was Snyder Langston. Gensler was the architect.

The property also includes an eight-level, 2,170-stall parking structure recently completed by Bomel Construction Co. for project developer Trammell Crow Co.

Matt Prince, Bomel’s project manager, said building the garage had a number of challenges, including productively sharing a construction site packed with workers and equipment while simultaneously erecting two brawny office buildings and a 670,000-square-foot, poured-in-place concrete parking structure. Prince said last year’s wet winter had crews working faster to make up for lost time. Bomel also was Snyder Langston’s subcontractor for the office buildings’ structural concrete and placing and finishing concrete on the metal decks.

“We had to contend with an exceedingly rainy winter,” Prince explained. “We had rain all the way up through May. That said, we still met our obligations and schedule to the owner.”

In addition to Prince, the Bomel team included Garret Hoffman, project engineer; John Bibbens, general superintendent and Doug Smith, formwork superintendent. International Parking Design was the architect for the parking structure.

The garage measures 464 feet by 186 feet. Pine and palm trees accent its west side. There are three entrances and exit points: on Teller, a driveway near the courtyard off Dupont and a driveway on the east side, accessible from Teller.

The focal points of the light-gray parking structure are two 94-foot-tall, glass-enclosed elevator towers on its courtyard side.

ABOUT BOMEL: Established in 1970, Irvine, Calif.-based Bomel Construction Co. Inc. is widely regarded as the dean of parking structure construction in California and Nevada. Passport’s RideSacRT app to receive recognition at annual awards program

March 9, 2016 – Passport was recently selected as “Business of the Year” by the Sacramento Regional Transit District (RT) for its successful development and implementation of the RideSacRT mobile ticketing solution. In seeking out RT’s vision of a connected transportation experience, the RideSacRT app allows Sacramento transit riders to plan, track, and pay for their RT trip from their smartphone.

The “Business of the Year” award is one of five prestigious awards given during the Sacramento Metro Chamber of Commerce’s annual State of RT Breakfast and TransitAction Awards program. This program recognizes models of excellence that have made a significant and positive impact on public transit in the Sacramento region.

“We’re humbled and honored to be selected as ‘Business of the Year’ by the Sacramento Regional Transit District,” said Bob Youakim, CEO at Passport. “It’s remarkable how our technology has impacted the Sacramento community in such a short period of time, and we look forward to continuing to innovate the way RT riders travel.”

In partnership with RT, Passport launched the RideSacRT app in January 2016. Since its introduction, the solution has been well-received by RT, transit riders, and the Sacramento region. RT riders enjoy the convenience of paying and planning for their trip from their smartphone, avoiding the hassle of carrying around cash, and viewing RT transit routes. RideSacRT is just as beneficial for RT, giving them insightful data into ridership patterns that can be used to continue to improve the rider experience.

“RT is focused on expanding the use of electronic fare collection and is excited to partner with Passport to provide a convenient way for RT customers to purchase tickets and passes using their smartphone,” Mike Wiley, RT General Manager/CEO, stated. “RT values this important partnership.”

Passport continuously strives to innovate the transportation experience for transit agencies and their riders. By partnering with innovative transit agencies like RT to provide mobile ticketing technology, Passport helps assist in improving day to day operations and creating clarity around rider data. With greater intel into ridership and operations data, public transportation agencies can make effective and informed decisions.

Passport will be accepting the 2016 Business of the Year Award at the Metro Chamber’s State of RT event on March 9, 2016.

Passio’s IncroMAXX Now Integrates with Transign’s LED Signs

December 16, 2015

passioTechnologies

Passio Technologies

ATLANTA — Passio’s exclusive IncroMAXX transit platform now offers “hands free” GPS-based integration with Transign’s LED Destination Signs, allowing transit systems to better communicate with riders and open new avenues for revenue generation.

Coupled with Passio’s automated voice announcement module, the solution delivers an exceptional passenger experience, said Mitch Skyer, president of Passio Technologies.

This partnership allows a vehicle’s on-board signs to display location-specific information directly from Passio’s mobile data terminal (MDT). With the integration, transit agencies can display on the destination signs a bus’ next stop, major nearby intersections, public announcements and location-based advertising as a means of generating revenue.

Passio’s IncroMAXX platform provides a single, cloud-based management solution with one on-board interface. Drivers automatically receive up-to-date information, and with a single selection, can control multiple devices on the vehicle.

This eliminates the need for manual count sheets, driver time sheets and schedule sheets, thereby reducing the amount of time needed for burdensome data entry. In addition, the platform produces straightforward, meaningful and easy-to-understand data reports that system managers can use to make decisions in real time.

Passio unveiled a prototype of the integration during the Florida Parking Association’s 2015 Annual Conference & Trade Show in Amelia Island, Florida, in early December. The new offering will be available to customers starting in early 2016.

In less than four years, Passio has partnered with more than 50 municipalities, universities and private companies to deploy customized transit technology solutions aimed at optimizing operations and enhancing the passenger experience.

Passio’s solutions have been used to count more than 20 million passengers at transit systems across the country. That number is expected to increase dramatically as current projections put the number of passengers counted at more than 12 million over the next year alone and increasing from there in subsequent years.

Sacramento, CA, December 14, 2015 – The Sacramento Regional Transit system is announcing a new citywide mobile option for transit fare payments. RideSacRT, developed by mobile payment provider Passport, is launching in January 2016, giving users the ability to plan, track, and pay for their RT trip from their smartphone.

With RideSacRT, Sacramento public transit riders can plan their trip ahead of time using the app’s interactive map screen. Riders can even plan their trip based on the desired departure time and/or the desired time of arrival at their destination. Riders can also track RT vehicles within the app. RideSacRT will improve efficiency in the day to day operations of the RT system, and will also provide RT with data intel on commuter patterns, purchases, and ridership.

“Using the new mobile application, provided by Passport, our riders will be able to buy a single ride ticket on their phone and ride for 90 minutes,” said Mike Mattos, Chief of Facilities and Business Support Services at Regional Transit. “Our riders have been requesting a return to the ability to transfer. This application provides transfers without all the paper and fraud issues of a traditional transfer system. You can also buy a day pass on the mobile application. The real beauty for customers is that your smartphone is your ticket. The Passport team was exceptional in their execution of our pilot program.”

Riders are able to pay for their transit fares directly in the app using their secure RT account. Users simply add their credit card information in order to pay for their pass. Riders can then use their mobile ticket to board transit or store their ticket for later use with the app’s Ticket Manager feature.

“We’re excited to introduce our mobile ticketing solution to Sacramento transit riders,” said Bob Youakim, CEO at Passport. “The RideSacRT app allows riders to plan trips around their schedule, and then pay for transit fare in a way that is as convenient as possible. From start to finish, the RideSacRT app ties in every aspect of the rider experience.”

“RideSacRT is an exciting addition to Regional Transit’s technology initiatives,” said Mike Mattos. “We’re looking forward to launching a solution that will allow for our riders to plan, track, and pay for their trip across Sacramento. We’re thrilled to deliver a more convenient option for our riders to travel on the RT system.”

The RideSacRT app will be available in January 2016 in the iPhone App Store and Android Google Play.
