Westfalia Unveils App to Transform the Automated Parking User Experience

The Westfalia Parking App offers a contactless parking experience and allows building owners and developers to boost safety, efficiency, and convenience of automated parking facilities.

YORK, Pa.  – Westfalia Technologies, Inc. (Westfalia), a leading provider of automated parking and storage solutions, announces the release of the Westfalia Parking App, an all-in-one consumer parking solution that will increase efficiency, safety, and convenience in automated parking facilities. Westfalia’s parking solutions are on the cutting edge of digital transformation and the app introduces an easy, contactless experience for the future of the parking garage.

Westfalia’s automated parking technology is found in parking garages around the world, including in Philadelphia, Dubai, Copenhagen, and other locations. Westfalia’s innovative parking solution completely automates the parking experience, increasing capacity while using less square footage than a conventional garage—with zero sacrifice for vehicle or customer safety. Traditionally, these automated parking facilities required drivers to be present to retrieve their vehicle, using an additional key fob, barcode, or credit card.

The Westfalia Parking App is overhauling this process, with benefits including:

  • A contactless experience: The app offers its customers a contactless experience where drivers can call their vehicle from their home, office, or hotel room immediately or schedule retrieval for a later time.
  • By-the-second tracking: App users can track their vehicle throughout the retrieval process, with a live countdown from when the vehicle leaves its secure parking spot to when it is delivered to the customer and its transfer area location.
  • Quick vehicle retrieval: From tapping “Retrieve Vehicle” on the app to opening their car door, the average waiting time for parking garage users is 2.5 minutes or less.
  • Seamless integration: The app is built and managed by Westfalia’s inhouse software engineers. This allows customers to receive timely and accurate app updates, customize the app experience based on their unique needs, and seamlessly integrate with Westfalia’s automated parking systems.

Ian Todd, Director of Automated Parking Systems, Westfalia Technologies, said, “We are thrilled to unveil the Westfalia Parking App for our customers. It will completely change the game for automated parking and bring this innovative technology right to our smart phones. Westfalia is dedicated to providing the best, safest, and most convenient solutions to our customers to help them solve their critical parking challenges, and we’re confident the Westfalia Parking App will do just that.”

With in-house software engineers, the app usability is completely customizable for property owners or developers. Facility owners can tailor the app to fit their needs, from retrieval time limits, number of users and vehicles, and more. The app is available to Westfalia’s automated parking customers on both iOS and Android devices.

Dan Labell, President, Westfalia Technologies, said, “As urban populations continue to grow, fast, convenient, and safe parking solutions are a necessity for today’s property owners, architects, and developers. By connecting our innovative automated parking technology with a user-friendly app, Westfalia is leading the way for digital transformation in parking and storage.”

500 Walnut Automates Parking with Westfalia Technologies

Leading manufacturer of parking systems unveils first-of-its-kind automated parking technology

YORK, Pa. – Oct. 30, 2017 – Westfalia Technologies, Inc. (Westfalia), a leading manufacturer of automated parking systems, announces today that Scannapieco Development Corporation, one of the Philadelphia region’s most renowned and respected developers widely credited for introducing a whole new level of ultra-luxury residences to Philadelphia, has installed the company’s automated parking system at 500 Walnut, Philadelphia’s most luxurious condominium tower.

Opened in early 2018, 500 Walnut was the first project in the U.S. to utilize Westfalia’s new palletless parking system. The 86-space parking system seamlessly integrated with the building structure and maintained the ultra-luxury aesthetics where the residents interacted with the parking system in the two transfer areas located on the ground floor.

Tom Scannapieco, owner, Scannapieco Development Corporation, said, “We are committed to not only implementing the latest and greatest technology in all of our projects, but we are always working to identify futuristic trends and advancements to simplify the day-to-day living of our residents. We worked collaboratively with Westfalia to develop a system that met the unique specifications of our project. Westfalia’s focus on service and the expertise of its engineers made working with them on this project a pleasure and I look forward to working with them again on future projects.”

Westfalia’s palletless automated parking system uses Westfalia’s Satellite® technology that can adjust to the length of the car’s wheelbase, allowing the system to handle multiple car sizes. Once the vehicle is positioned in the transfer cabin and the driver and passengers have cleared the area, users then answer a series of questions on a touch screen, the doors are closed and the vehicle is lowered into the system where the Satellite drives under the car where the wheels are clamped, transporting the car onto the shuttle. The system includes redundancies, such as two independent shuttles, to ensure the system remains operational. Unlike pallet-supported systems, the vehicle is transported into the parking garage and positioned on a concrete deck.

Dan Labell, president, Westfalia Technologies. Inc., said, “We are thrilled to partner with Scannapieco Development Corporation to offer the next generation of our automated parking system at 500 Walnut. The team’s tedious attention to detail and level of interest to all facets of automated parking has motivated our relationship and our commitment to ensure the success of this project.”
