Westward Industries: Three reasons municipalities keep coming back to Parking Specific Vehicles.

Westward Industries continues to see a reordering trend among customers and a sudden spike in interest from new customers, keeping their production line busy.

Winnipeg, MB – Westward Industries, the North American manufacturers of the GO-4, just finished the first five months of 2021 with a busy production line, expecting to keep up the pace as Covid restrictions ease throughout the USA.

The most recent orders came from new customers like the city of Manassas, ordering a         GO-4 for their Parking management, as well as returning municipalities like the city of Sarasota, ordering another Electric GO-4 to add to their fleet of PSVs. Westward Industries is also shipping 4 Electric units of our GO-4 EV with Air Conditioning and Genetec Autovu factory mounted LPR to the famous campus Texas A&M.  New MAX-EV’s continue to ship to distributors across the country to create product awareness with Westward customers.

Chris Franz, an owner of Westward Industries, says: “The GO-4 EV is a smart asset for municipalities right now. Our studies have shown multiple benefits of investing in them: fuel savings, minimal maintenance, increased time efficiency and ROI are huge reasons our customers order and reorder our vehicles. It just makes sense to purchase or lease electric right now as we see the parking sector picking up its activities once again.  Electric allows for continued and significant fuel savings which is great to offset compromised revenues from 2020.”

Westward Industries continues to work towards an electric and green future and expects EV’s to become a majority of shipments over the next 12-24 months.   More EV’s shipping and more returning customers means the company is on the right track to make 2021 and 2022 excellent years, a refreshing change in a post pandemic world.

SFMTA Expands Parking Enforcement Fleet with Westward Industries GO-4 Vehicles

Westward Industries, one of North America’s largest manufacturers of parking-specific vehicles (PSV’s), recently expanded its service of the San Francisco Municipal Transit Agency (SFMTA) with the addition of 19 new GO-4 enforcement vehicles. The SFMTA has utilized the GO-4 vehicles for parking enforcement duties for over 25 years, and have been a valuable resource for enforcing extensive on-street parking zones in very dense, high traffic areas.

The SFMTA monitors nearly 40,000 parking spaces across the San Francisco region. SFMTA has utilized Westward Industries in recent decades to provide them with a parking-specific vehicle capable of withstanding significant vehicle miles, along short distance wear and tear that typically limit fleet vehicle lifespans. Recently, the SFMTA added another 19 GO-4 vehicles to their fleet, with another nine to be added in the coming months. This brings the entire fleet to well over 300 GO-4 gas and electric vehicles, with many incorporating LPR and digital chalking technologies. Many of the original GO-4 vehicles are still operating, with a lifespan of 20 years and counting.

The SFTMA utilizes the vehicles for a number of parking enforcement tasks, providing a safe, convenient, and efficient experience for parking staff, while providing a durable and cost-effective alternative to standard vehicles for the organization as a whole. Benefits of the Westward Vehicle series include:

  • Factory-direct LPR integration
  • Custom dashboard features to create a personal workstation
  • Narrow width to reduce traffic conflicts and interruptions
  • Ultra-tough full roll bar chassis for enhanced safety
  • Available in EV models to reduce carbon footprint
  • Dual sliding doors for safe and efficient entry/exit

Westward Industries offers a wide range of task-specific vehicles including the GO-4 and MAX EV lines, as well as the XTF Flat Deck and the XTR Refuse Hauler.

Westward Industries Introduces New Three-Wheel Parking-Specific Electric Vehicle – MAX 3

Westward Industries Introduces New Three-Wheel Parking-Specific Electric Vehicle – MAX 3

Westward Industries, one of North America’s largest manufacturers of parking-specific vehicles (PSV’s), recently released its new MAX 3 electric vehicle. The three-wheel vehicle is the latest innovation in Westward’s series of MAX vehicles designed to serve parking departments and the needs of parking enforcement officers.

Derived from Westward’s new four-wheel MAX-EV, the MAX 3 series is similar in design but overall, more tailored with parking enforcement in mind. The twin passenger vehicle is designed with two wheels up front for higher speed stability yet maintains a narrow width and footprint which is key for a highly efficient PSV. The MAX 3 series includes three options for Lithium Ion battery power: the MAX 3-8, with a range of up to 40 miles on one charge; the MAX 3-15, with a range of up to 75 miles on one charge; and the MAX 3-20 with a range of up to 100 miles on one charge. The vehicles can also reach a speed of up to 45 miles per hour. According to Westward’s Vice President Chris Franz “The MAX-3 is a game changer for customers that need two passengers aboard and may need to travel at higher speeds. A simple deck on the back allows for easy storage of a few wheel boots. The GO-4 continues to serve Westward’s customer base seeking the nimblest parking-specific vehicle on the market”

Similar to all of Westward’s parking-specific vehicles, the new MAX 3 can be delivered custom-fit and ready to go with license plate recognition software. It can also be outfitted to each organization’s needs including optional doors, heat, air conditioning, custom lighting, and more.

Westward Industries offers a wide range of parking-specific vehicles across both its GO-4 and MAX EV lines.

Westward Industries Study Highlights Increased Efficiency and Revenues through Parking Specific Vehicles

July 08, 2020

Westward Industries Study Highlights Increased Efficiency and Revenues through Parking Specific Vehicles

As communities across the country begin to reopen following the COVID-19 shutdowns, parking departments will once again begin to enforce on-street parking. As always, it will be essential to provide parking enforcement officers with safe, efficient, and private workspaces.

Westward Industries recently conducted an efficiency study to identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of parking enforcement operations, while creating a safe alternative for parking staff to perform their daily operations.

Westward’s study addressed the productivity gains achieved by parking departments using a parking-specific vehicle instead of walking or driving standard vehicles. The study found that parking-specific vehicles significantly increase PEO citation rates over walking. The narrow profile of parking specific vehicles allows the officer to park the vehicle along the street between the on-street parking and the road without impeding traffic. This is an improvement over standard vehicles that often need to be parked, and require the officer to take the time to walk to the vehicle to write a citation. Further, parking-specific vehicles allow PEOs to enforce significantly more territory, resulting in increased citations and revenues over walking and standard vehicles. The study highlights a 42% improvement in time efficiency compared to conventional vehicles, and 100% improvement over walking.

Now more than ever, parking organizations will be looking for opportunities to create more efficient parking operations, while generating revenues. Increasing the speed in which parking enforcement officers can cover their territories results in significant increases in citations, as well as increased revenues.
